Jameson's Charhouse - Mount Prospect Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter was inattentive (May have seen him 2 times the whole time we were there). Water glasses were left unfilled and forgot to place our appetizer order. Overall let down by the service.
To make matters worse someone was given a totally burnt steak (completely over cooked and incinerated). The steak looked very odd given they ordered a medium rare steak. We should have complained, but my father in law is a proud man and doesn't like to cause a scene. Overall, we don't plan on going back, which is a shame given that we like to come here for special occasions.
I'm not sure if this was an isolated case or an indication of the beginning of a slide, but we have been here a bunch of times before Saturday. Never have any serious problems...not this time.
1. some type of gnats or other insects flying around our booth
2. waiter seemed more interested in telling us about where else he works, a fine dining place, than in getting us some bread...finally got it after salads.
3. 3 of us ordered soup to go, my daughter wanted hers at the rest...never got it.
4. we ordered a second bottle of wine and after about 10 minutes he came back to confirm we really wanted another bottle. There were 4 of us drinking wine.
4. I ordered a filet, he brought me a strip steak. I told him I'd eat it since everyone had their food.
5. My two adult childeren ordered filet's with a crust. My son's 11 oz. filet had my Daughter (6 oz) crust on it and vice versa. They used their knife and fork to cut it off and swapped. Waiter no where to be seen.
I spoke with Mike the mgr, after I paid the bill, and just told him I tought he might want to address a couple things for the sake of their following and neighborhood "gem" status
Fantastic experience from parking to departure and all the delicious food in between. I'm a huge fan of Jameson's - Mount Prospect location. Be sure to get in early and try the prime rib as they sometimes run out. Excellent service with a professional yet approachable feel. Thank you for continuing to be a neighborhood gem!
We have been to many of the Jameson restaurants. The food is always good. Our server was not the best we ever had. We have had experience in a few places, that when you decline alcohol, the service is less attentive. Perhaps this was the issue. It was not a comfortable situation when items were brought to us not according to order. It would not stop us from going back to the restaurant.
Always our favorite go to place that does not need an occasion. Soup, salad, and bread with a main course of whatever with potatoes and veges is more than enough to eat at a reasonable price. My salmon was terrific as was my wife's London broil. As MacArthur said, I shall return.
Waitress looked like she wanted to quit her job, setting a vibe for the rest of our experience. Waited 20 minutes to order, once food came, waitress never waited for us to check our steaks and/or asked us if we needed anything else, she never came back during our meal to check on us. My friends second steak medallion was raw. When we flagged another waiter to show him he asked "so are you done with your food?" .... Waited 15 minutes to get the check. Very disappointing overall experience.
I've heard about Jameson's Charhouse for years but this was my first time there. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. I had the 28 oz. bone-in ribeye and it may be the best steak I've ever had. It was nicely chard which gave it a great flavor and was done medium rare to perfection. As good or better than the expensive steak houses at a fraction of the price. The service was excellent and the meal had a good pace to it with a few minutes in between each course.
Lovely experience celebrating my mother's 94th birthday. Food was very good and service was great. After, waiter brought out a slice of Tiramisu with a lit candle, which was very appreciated, esp. because the Tiramisu was excellent!
FYI, I did have to call that afternoon to confirm they'd received and would be able to process my special request (for a table quiet enough that Mom could hear). Hostess said they don't generally respond to Open Table comments like that, but I assured her that other restaurants in Open Table definitely do... Regardless, we were able to get table away from others and we were all very pleased.
Would definitely recommend and will definitely return!
We wanted to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday and went to one of our favorite spots. We were severely disappointed. They changed more than just their uniforms and decor. The quality of the food and service was subpar. Who wants tough Lobster or too fatty you can't eat it steak? Our waitress forgot about us for most of the time. And they decreased the portions while maintaining the same prices. I don't think we'll go here again. Also, they need to embrace the gluten free world so that Celiacs like me can understand and read what we can safely eat.
Nice atmosphere, great for conversation. A lot of food for the price. Soup was fine not outstanding. Salad was good. Got warm bread for the table. All our meals were tasty. They kept coming back and refilling drinks. And they put the bill on the table when it should come - after you are done eating.
I don't eat meat and your Lentil soup is meat based (the other option was chicken noodle) so I asked to take it home for my husband, who also asked to take his home because he knew he would not be able to eat everything. The waiter did not give us our soup. We didn't realize it until we were already driving away.
