Jameson's Charhouse - Bloomingdale Ratings and Reviews
This was not the best dinner I have had here. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and it came out pink and dry as if it had been reheated. I asked for au jus and never got it. Being that my other dinners have been good I guess this was an off day for the kitchen.
The salad is uninspired (just a small portion of lettuce with one cherry tomato and a few grated carrot pieces) as are the vegetables (just plainly steamed broccoli, no seasoning.) The foyer/reception area is unwelcoming with only a few dining chairs for seating. It needs some comfortable chairs or sofas around the fireplace, which was not lit on a chilly night.
This was not the usual Jameson experience. We had a reservation, and on the form indicated it was for an anniversary. We were taken to a table in the bar area (we have never been seated there before.) The booths there are terribly cramped for four, with 2 large posts under the table. Service was incredibly slow. We were seated at 5:30 and it was 7:15 when we left. Also, I ordered kabobs which were supposed to have mushrooms. When I asked about them I was told they no longer came with mushrooms but that the menu had not been updated. When we go there for special occasions we never mention the occasion, but since it asked on the form I put it down, but it was never mentioned to us by the staff. Very disappointing experience.
Five of us who are retired from the same place of employment got together for lunch. Three of us had the chopped steak for $10.95, a very good deal. Service was very good. Had minor problem with Arnie Palmer drinks as the apparently didn't realize that they ran out of lemonade, but this was quickly rectified. Would recommend it for any ocasion.
Our meals were not prepared as ordered, and items were missing. By the time we received our steaks, everyone else was done eating. Although we were there celebrating a birthday, it was Sweetest Day so needless to say it was extremely overcrowded. They sat us at a table that sagged and a chair was broken. They took the chair and put it at the table next to us. We told the patron before they let their disabled mother sit down on it. Our family has been here on many occasions and have enjoyed it but this time was a bit too much of a disappointment.
We always have a wonderful experience when dining. However, our server this time was less than attentive. I nursed the same glass of water the entire hour I was there and she never came back to refill my glass or my husband's iced tea until she brought the check. Thankfully our food was amazing and the busboys and other staff helped deliver food and clear plates. So we'll definitely be back because I'm sure she was just having an off night.
As usual, the food was very good and the portions are generous. I don't understand, when there is ample room to walk around a table, why the server would hand the plate of food across the table to the diner. The servers need to be trained better about this. Will continue to go to Jameson's, hope the server will be better.
This is the 2nd time we have eaten here. When I asked my mom where she wanted to go for her birthday, this was the first restaurant that came to mind for her. There are a lot of good restaurants in our area, so that says a lot.
Both times that we've been here, we had steak. It's tender, flavorful and perfectly prepared. The prices are reasonable since we got soup and salad, bread, potato and vegetable with our meal.
We will come here again.
I go often. Service timing was way off. Long delays between courses 10- 15 minutes, another 15 minutes to get check after food was cleared had to ask for it. Looked like server was trying to course two tables at same time and we were second table. If this had been my first time I would not return. My guest will not it was her first time.
