Always a good time!
Birthday, waitress brought us a free cake and kept our bottomless mimosas flowing!
Excellent meal as always, thank you Chef. Service was better this time, but still does not match the excellence of the menu. Always disappointed with the service, it WAS a bit more attentive and checked on the table more than usual. Still gaps in server presence, bad timing getting drinks (this is typical).
I have been to James Republic a few times: brunch, coffee, late breakfast (aka early lunch) and now dinner. If you are showing up at prime eating hours, you should make a reservation. They have great coffee and also amazing cocktails. Love their creativity behind the bar.
The food is dynamite. It's not a huge menu and dishes are meant to be shared. It's more than Tapas but smaller than a main dish. I hadn't seen my friend Mary in about a month and she happened to be in town for a business meeting and we met up at the restaurant.
We split the brussels sprouts -which are exceptionally tasty.
We split a hamburger -- so incredibly good. It tasted like the beef had been freshly ground. If you want it less pink in the middle, go with medium well done. The bun is very flavorful too which is a huge plus.
The Pomme Frites are extraordinarily crisp and sprinked with grated cheese..
Dessert was an apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream and hot caramel sauce. VERY Unusual as it was served in a mini skillet in which it was cooked. The edges were crispy and it looked more like a cake than it did apple crisp. I don't remember it being the fruit-filled dessert that I expected it to be but it was amazing despite my expectations.
Mary had a great cup of coffee and I had a capucinno. I had forgotten they did a Mexican Mocha hot drink which I would have ordered that. It's one of their signature coffees.
Service was really very very good.
Lovely time on a quiet night. Love that they add a plethora of daily specials to the menu!
Excellent food and service! We had a party of six on New Year’s Eve. We ordered a charcuterie board for starters and were not disappointed. The smoked olives were amazing! The entree selections were very good including a few vegetarian. The menu changes daily and ingredients are sourced locally. Our entrees included congee, chicken, steak, and the grass fed burger. The food was indescribably good and everyone left very satisfied. Don’t forget the desserts- delicious!!
The food here is always very good, some of the best in Long Beach. Great value for the money. The food is high quality and portions are generous.
The service was great!
I had high hope from walking in the door because it's beautiful. But unfortunately was ruined by the women server who waited on us. And was left waiting an 1 hour and a half for our food that according to the waitress we "never put in our order, but oh, you wanted me to put in your order earlier? " with an unapologetic attitude. Management came and tried to save it. But the food was poorly put together and executed. So we will not be coming back.
