Hostess unfriendly almost rude with no personality.
Seemed to be very short staffed.
Good food, yummy cocktails!! It’s a great space for a date night or a fabulous night out with friends!
Came here for breakfast. Staff was incredibly nice and so accommodating. Loved my breakfast croissant sandwich and the coffee here is some of the best I have had! Look forward to returning!
good food selection. poor wine selection. corking fee is $ 24.00
Limited menu. Small portions for the $. Did not like any of our entrees.
Went there twice during our stay. Brunch and Dinner both amazing experiences! Our server Garret was fantastic and very food savvy. The pork with the mole verde is a hit! And the pasta was spot on!
Great atmosphere but eat before you get there, my entrée portion was small. I ordered an octopus entrée for $25.00 and received one tentacle and a few garbanzo beans. I had to make myself something to eat when we got home. The chef should evaluate all the entrees to make sure they're a good value and an adult feels satisfied after eating. Disappointed...
Excellent service. A bit pricey but food was great.
Fantastic spot! Food is amazing! Already planning on coming back for dinner!
This was our first time to dine At James Republic; we went as part of the Dine out Long Beach event. The craft cocktails (The Flapper and North of the Wall) were excellent, the service top notch, and we both enjoyed the food (scallop on a bed of lentils was memorable). We definitely will return to taste more of the menu.
Great service and cocktails. Portions are small, but very well done.
Brunch was very good.Great food, good service.
The food was delicious. Our server was wonderful and welcoming. It was a great restaurant to have a date night. I will definitely be back again!
May, our server, was great. Bacon was amazing and thick. French toast used multigrain delicious bread.
This was our first time at James Republic and we were both very pleased with our dinner. The food was delicious and the service was very good. Will definitely come again!
we went for lesbian brunch. it was fun. nice spot w/ great food and good service!
The charcuterie, fried cauliflower and fries were delightful. Drinks lovely. Our server was wonderful and the experience was pleasant and went smoothly. Our entrees left something to be desired. I'd definitely go back and simply try other entrees.
Service was painfully slow and the waiter inept, especially since there were fewer customers than wait servers present when we were there. Food was tasty; portions were small. Drinks were overpriced.
This was a cool lil spot,
I definitely want to try it again on a non rainy day. My only minor complaint is that our server wasn’t very attentive. After our food arrived, we barely saw her and after she brought the bill, it was honestly about 15 minutes before we saw her again. Not cool when you’re on metered parking, lol.
Love the farm to table menu selection. The scallops were cooked perfectly and sat atop a spicy dahl mixture. A winner
Cocktail drinks were amazing
Vibe was great. Service was great. The only complaint was the portion size was very small and my toast was completely burnt. I would give them another try though.
Great event and kudos to James Republic for hosting. The food was tasty but a little too greesy
Great food, as always. One recommendation is for hostess to be more assertive and welcoming. We walked up to hostess stand and she didn't say anything at first.
I would recommend James Republic to a friend but not for a bookclub venue. Just too noisy for us to have a decent conversation.
We absolutely loved everything. Including my son's grilled cheese sandwich. 😀
Incredibly flavorful cooking with layers of flavor in each bite simply amazing quisine...from someone who travels all over, this menu is a taste experience you don’t want to miss. My highest compliments yo the chef and pastry chef.
Such wonderful food and drinks! A seasonal and changing menu means that there is always something new and delicious to try. Pricing is good, too, considering it is downtown LB and more of that farm to table style menu. Highly recommend for a date night or just a great place to enjoy some really well crafted food and drink.
Delightful duck breast and tabouleh stuffed peppers
I have yet to be disappointed at James Republic. Every single time I dine there I am delighted with what I order. The wait staff are knowledgeable and helpful if you are wondering about anything on the menu. Delicious. Delightful. Go go go soon!
The host tried to seat us at s horrible table next to the host stand with quality tables open in other places. The service was ok but the staff seemed to want to get go home already. The runner kinda dumped plates on the table and ran off. I used to wait tables and this group was not hustling for a tip.
Like others have said don’t be concerned that this place is connected to the Courtyard, it is far from a typical hotel restaurant. We had Dumplings, beet salad and shared the killer cheeseburger with a beautiful cab. My only regret is sharing the cheeseburger. Note that we are having breakfast here as I write this.
It was our usual date night, it can be accessed by the hotel I suggest valet parking he was supper friendly... we had a reservation arrived early and we were seated right away. It was a cold night and the restaurant left the doors open to the patio — they didn’t offer me a blanket but offered the other lady who came 30mins after a blanket... portion sizes were suggested best for sharing however they were on the small side and I was not impressed. I did however like the different take on the carrot cake.
I think this location would rock during the summer months or by george please provide hearing to customers who are cold ...
We love James Republic and it’s our go-to place for our anniversary. We were a little disappointed this year because although we had a reservation and we were seated immediately, literally 25 minutes passed before the wait staff approached us to take our order. After we ordered another 20 minutes passed before we got our cocktails. The food had already arrived. It would’ve been longer, but we flagged down the manager to ask about them. They were also out of the dessert we like. Again, this doesn’t usually happen there, so we will go again in the future and hope service is better like it usually is, but if it happens again, we will most likely find a new special spot. “Special” needs to be reliable. Oh...and bring a jacket or sweater...it is really cold inside with the windows open to their patio. We thought it was a one-time thing, but it is always cold, even with a full restaurant.
Outstanding meal and cocktails, service was very very very slow. The waiter kept telling us the bartender was backed up. It's a small place, and yet, it took them a good 15-20 minutes to bring our drinks. Even the waiter suggested we order ahead of time for our next round.
Food was outstanding, but portions are very small. Two people got the scallop dish, only 3 scallops.
Most of us were still hungry after dinner, so we opted for dessert which was delicious.
At least we didn't go home full.
Six of us had a lovely dinner before going to a concert. The meals were outstanding as well as the service.
My friends hadn’t eaten at James Republic before and are excited to return.
Marisa our Server was excellent. She couldn't have been more pleasant and knowledgeable
Really hard to give a good review when the BLTA, which is not a real stretch, comes with no avocado. It came to the table on a torn slice of rustic bread and looked extremely lonely. When I brought it to my servers attention she did as little recovery as possible. I got a sad bowl with three slices of avocado.
While nobody died in this transaction what it speaks to is the lack of attention to detail. Service was average and food and beverage were average. This is a BEAUTIFUL space.
Our friends at Ellie's or Taste-Beer-Wine-Kitchen should move here.
Really enjoyed our visit. There were four of us each with a different thought for dinner. It was great. I enjoyed the Manhattans.
As always, we had a great meal and fabulous drinks. This is one of the few restaurants with a tailored menu and yet I would order everything on the menu. We love the cocktails, they are creative and well balanced. I highly recommend this restaurant and only wish they were open later.
