Overall, it was good but not great. Have had better Irish food in past but the quality was good. The service was pleasant but there seemed to have been short on staff. Two had fish and chips, one had veggie wrap with chicken that she thought was very good and the last had shepherd's pie which was tasty but mostly potatoes.
One friend loved it because she could watch sports while eating. The other three in the group were not as sports-minded so the TVs were a distraction.
We would recommend it to friends with restrictions. Also, we would visit again but it would not be our first choice.
Husband & I looking for Irish place to eat, the night before St. Patty's Day. Great food. Both the Shepard's Pie & Bailey's Chocolate Cake were scrumptious & my husband says his Bangers & mash were delicious, too. Mary
Went with a party of 6. The waiter split our checks for us with no problem. Food is always good. Will be back.
I very much enjoyed the environment and the food. The spinach crab dip was delicious. And while I am not a Maryland crab cake expert, I LOVED the crab cakes dinner. The vegetables with it were outstanding, crisp and really tasty.
The restaurant is very nice. It is a large hall more then a quaint restaurant. The bar is very large. And was packed. If you are looking for a lively atmosphere it is a great place. The food was very good too. I. had the onion soup which was probably the best onion soup I have had in a restaurant. My husband had the wings which were really good too. For the main meal my husband ordered the fish and chips which he said was very good. I opted for the Rueben which to be honest was delicious too. The music was very good too. And what is really nice is that the musician is placed high above the bar so the music is not deafening but enjoyable. I would give this place 5 stars not only for all the things I mentioned but also because they have only been opened for 3 weeks and honestly for the most part ran very smoothly. I really wish I had noted my waitresses name because she was fantastic. We were seated upstairs where there are only a few tables along with some bar tables. She had to run up and down the stairs and was more attentive then most waitresses. I would definitely be returning!
We choose the pub food from broad menu, but it's very tasty pub food. We all enjoyed our choices. Atmosphere is good, if a little noisy.... But that seems to be the norm in restaurants these days. Waitress was delightful. We'd definitely go back.
Fish and chips were very good, as were the salads and calamari appetizer.
Needed to grab a quick bite on a Friday night and this was near our hotel. I think I would like this place in the summer. Large outdoor bar area. However, the noise from the bar was deafening. There were some large groups and live music in the bar so it was a bit much. Holiday gatherings...I get it! :)
Food was good but nothing spectacular. Lots of options.
Fantastic staff, great service and good food. Our grandchildren had a ball.
All of us had the Guinness beef stew and we all loved it!
Have not been here in long time but staying across the street at Hilton Garden Inn for work. Wanted quick dinner and they sat me right away and took my order quickly too. Ordered 3 appetizers off happy hour menu and all were great! I love fried pickles and order whenever I see them. These here were one of the best I tried. Chicken kabob was very tender and thoroughly enjoyed as well. Last, there mussels were fantastic; ask for a spoon so you can enjoy the broth. Great Irish bar with all types of food. Great service too! I'll be coming back again!
Our daughter is getting married in Balt this coming weekend.
Our server (Samantha) was superb. Our food was hot, delicious, and served in the order we asked for. We had visited an 'imported' Irish bar in Austin, Texas (B.D. Riley's) - the James Joyce Irish Pub gave us the same authentic feeling - truly felt like you were on the Emerald Isle.
Happy Hour was very reasonable - good amounts of quality beers for reasonable prices (until 7pm).
We were there for dinner before a Steely Dan concert at Pier 6 so the 'convenience factor' was off the chart. However, without the convenience of the upcoming show, this place was still a complete pleasure to experience. We shall return and strongly recommend that our friends do the same.
P.S. We got jammed up in traffic heading north on 95, called ahead to see if we could adjust our reservation. We were greeted with both a pleasant voice and a pleasant attitude - the adjustment was made and we were able to arrive on time - pressure free.
We had a great time and enjoyed our experience . Food was goos
The old bay wings were amazing! The live music was just right!
Hostess was a sweetheart. She saw that we were having problems taking a picture of our group, (my arm doesn't extend as much as I needed it to), so she came over to take the pic for us. Thank you for that!! Our server was very knowledgeable about the food as well as the drinks menu. The only thing was, he hit the wrong button when ordering our food and we received the wrong meals. But they were very quick to correct their mistake and get us the right meals. Great atmosphere. Will definitely go back. Thank you all so much for making our experience great!
If you are looking for a restaurant with cold beer and good food, than this is for you. I had the Sheppard’s pie and it was amazing. The service is fast and friendly. I believe this place is a hidden gem in the inner harbor area.
Dined here based on a recommendation by a hotel clerk. Was not disappointed. Food was good quality and authentic Irish/English pub type. Service was pleasant and attentive. Atmosphere was nice.
We were in town to see a baseball game the next day and made reservations at the pub. There was an issue with a wedding event, but we were called by the manager well in advance to work out a change in the time. They were very accommodating and apologetic. It wasn't an issue, but I appreciated the call and willingness to make it right. My family, two boys 5 and 10, had a great time eating fantastic food and enjoying a game on the large screen tv. The service was quick and attentive. We all left happy!
A themed restaurant with good food! We have been to this place over the years and have enjoyed it immensely. We even took my elderly mother there one year when she was close to 90 years old and she enjoyed it too!
We like sitting outside in good weather. Inside the place resembles a pub. This is a good selection that combines both food and atmosphere. We will return again as usual.
We came on a Wednesday for dinner and the place was hopping and loud too. People seemed to be really enjoying happy hour. We were seated right away and the service was excellent and fast. The lamb stew was delicious. We will definitely come back.
We were pleased that the hours of operation included late food service and not a limited menu. The location is convenient and outdoor dining a plus.
Made reservations for dinner but ended up eating appetizers and dessert. There is not a lot of variety in their menu. Nothing in the menu caught my eye. Our waiter was really nice but the ambience was just not for me.
Lovely Irish pub with great food and Irish hospitality!
Great Irish Restaurant & Bar. Authentic Irish furniture & other genuine items. Great menu & all four of our meals & drinks were great. Smiling service & great ambience. Walking distance to stadiums as well.
Caters to a large crowd of people therefore noise level was high but food and service was great!
First time for us making a reservation rather than just coming in off the streets - got there a few minutes early and we were offered immediate seating by the welcoming, friendly hostess. Prompt wait staff asked for drink and/or apps order, great service, attention to detail, minimal wait for drinks, apps and meals. Food was fantastic as always - enjoyed the famous Guinness stew, mahi mahi and pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes. Love the fact you can get an honest-to-goodness real Black and Tan beer. Nice wine selection. Enjoyed crab dip and fried pickle appetizers - all food served piping hot with minimal wait time. As always, a fantastic dining experience - our go-to when we visit Charm City. Also love the ambiance and authentic Irish decor and menu.
Had a business dinner after a conference with my panel presenters. I chose the place because it looked like the menu had several vegetarian options but once we were there, there weren't that many.
Very disappointed. Made reservation based on advice of our hotel (Marriott Waterfront) while attending a national conference. Service was horrible (shorted on drinks), appetizer came without requested dressing and tasted like rubber. Server and manager confrontational when brought to their attention. Manager, as we left said, "I'll be waiting for your @&TEMP_OC_CONTENT_HEREquot;inch email." I'd say judge for yourself if you want to go there -- I know I won't return.
James Joyce Pub was a great place to end the St. Patricks Day weekend. Our party of three devoured the crab dip . We each had our favorite comfort food; fish & chips, corned beef & cabbage, and stew. All delicious! Service was good. Irush eyes were smiling.
My husband and I look on the internet for a Irish Restaurant and the reviews were awesome. We had Corned Beef, Cabbage, smashed sweet and white potatoes with a special sauce (which had an awesome flavor) it complemented the dish very well. Service was awesome and the beer and Ginger Beer Mule was the best!!!! Portions were very generous also! We will be back again!!!! Would love to have a James Joyce Irish Pub and Restaurant in Harford County!!!!
Took the kids to hear some Irish music on St. Patrick's Day. Despite the completely packed house the service was fast and impeccable. It is not always easy to get servers to cater to small children, but they did an awesome job. We all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I wish I had asked the server's name so that I could give her a personal shout out here.
Good food and beer at a reasonable price (by getting there slightly before 7 I got a 20-oz. Guinness draft for $5). The lamb chops were delicious. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Appears more authentic than most "Irish" pubs I've seen this side of Dublin.
Had a reservation as was Friday evening. Wasn't too busy when arrived but grew near packed before we left. Server, Raphael, was great, funny and attentive. Food was pretty good: mussels appetizer was tasty although kinda small. Bread (rolls were really good). Guinness beef stew entree was very yummy and filling. Guinness was poured well; a single shot of Jameson's was ok, typical just-slightly watered-down restaurant/bar version. Ambiance was good, not too loud, mix of couples, small parties, and families. Prices are on the higher end but expected for the Harbor East area. Overall recommend it for a fun meal and drink.
We went there on a date and had the Irish Nachos, Sheppard's Pie, and french dip. The food was pretty good, and had good presentation, but the sheppard's pie was not the best. It was a little to "sweet" for my liking, I tend to like them more savory than the recipe here. We were also sat at a table with only tall stool seating which my girlfriend didn't like too much.. but it was a busy night and they do have normal tables in the other half of the restaurant. Other than that it was very good and a nice venue.
I love it!
First time going there and found the menu to be good, however there wasn't a kids menu and the vegan options were very limited. Our server was excellent though!
Excellent Service from wait staff.
Mussels app excellent, get a side of bread for soaking up broth.
Eight of us, including myself, went here for New Years Eve - I loved being able to make a reservation via Open Table. We were visiting the area, and were soooo pleased with our food, the atmosphere. I had he Mahi Mahi, my husband had the Crab Ravioli and was in heaven. Once arriving and sitting down we were given a hat or tiara that said, "Happy New Years," and then at 7pm (New Years in Ireland) we were all given free beer samples/shots to rings in the New Year -- such a fun idea. We loved it!
