Stopped in while I was in town for a conference. Excellent Guiness Beef Stew paired with very tasty, warm brown bread and a Smithwicks made for a wonderful meal. Very nice waitstaff and a quiet atmosphere, I was there early evening.
Our food - potato soup, broccoli/spinach soup, beef stew and beef dip sandwich - were delicious. Service was below par - drinks not brought until we asked again after receiving our entrees - no drink refills - disappearing server - but the food, as always, great!
I was surprised by the quality of the food. I was expecting the normal pub fare, but my chicken sandwich was awesome! Very well prepared on great bread. You can tell there was care put into the food. We had a great time!
We had a fabulous server who made great recommendations. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
Our food was taken to the incorrect table. We had to ask multiple times about our meal. Waitor was very apologetic however, the overall experience and quality of the meal was fair. Not some place we would revisit.
We ate lunch here on a quiet Monday at noon. The service was excellent. The beer selection was also excellent. Terrific fish and chips! Highly recommended.
Nice place for grabbing a beer and watching a game I'm sure but we were trying to grab a quick bite to eat and it took over an hour to get our food. When the food finally came out my wifes fish and chips we're soggy, and my omlet was luke warm at best. If I'm ever back in Baltimore I can't say I would go back.
Good average pub food. Atmosphere was fun and service was awesome.
I made reservations for a business dinner at James Joyce and it was the perfect choice. 6 of us were seated outside & the weather was delightful. We really had to work while eating (laptop on the table, collaborating on schedules & workload all through dinner), and we were comfortable enough at James Joyce to get everything done AND enjoy a great meal. The menu is really large and has selections to please everyone. The price is super reasonable too!!
After watching the 4th of July fireworks on the harbor, finding a place to eat that was still open, and not to expensive was challenging. The Pub was able to accommodate a late night meal. We ordered the fish and chips. Our meal came out hot and was delicious. Our server Antonio had several tables but still managed to be attentive to everyone. He even provided us with drinks to go since it was so humid outside.
It has good pup food, but their Lamb Stew is fantastic. We were there when they had an ok Irish Musician on the night we were there .
Great service. Food is average. Prices on the high side
The food and atmosphere were great. Donald, our server, was engaging and helpful. Will be back on our next Baltimore trip.
Been here several times and it never disappoints. It is what it is a great Irish pub
The pub offered everything that would be expected. The choice of beverages was extensive and the staff was very friendly and helpful in guiding selections. The food was perfectly prepared, plentiful and...most importantly...very tasty ! Fine location for anyone looking to relax and enjoy. Thanks to everyone for a very pleasant lunch experience. Look forward to a return should the opportunity arise.
Went here with my family for Mother's Day Brunch. How have I never heard of this place before? Amazing food, amazing service, great ambiance. 10/10!
Great dinner selections and service. It was a little loud but they were televising the Kentucky Derby and then had a one man band :)
Food and atmosphere was great. Our server Andrew was a little soft spoken and very hard to hear with the level of background noise. Also he was very perceptive to the facts that our beers were empty halfway through our meal and don’t ask if we wanted another round. Just brought us the check when we were done. Would of been a great experience As the food and atmosphere were great.
We stopped in on a Saturday night. There was music and lively conversations. We enjoyed Magners and Guiness and great food. Shepard's Pie, Lamb stew with brown bread, French dip etc... There were no complaints from our group of 6 ! The music was fun too.
We made a mistake of coming here for my husbands birthday in that it was so loud and noisy and the music was not very good. Conversation was impossible but that was our fault not the restaurants. We had no idea it is really a bar and not a restaurant because of the above reasons. The food was very good. The service, was fine though not great. We will definitely go back but not on a night when we are looking to sit back and chill with good conversation.
Overall, it was good but not great. Have had better Irish food in past but the quality was good. The service was pleasant but there seemed to have been short on staff. Two had fish and chips, one had veggie wrap with chicken that she thought was very good and the last had shepherd's pie which was tasty but mostly potatoes.
One friend loved it because she could watch sports while eating. The other three in the group were not as sports-minded so the TVs were a distraction.
We would recommend it to friends with restrictions. Also, we would visit again but it would not be our first choice.
Husband & I looking for Irish place to eat, the night before St. Patty's Day. Great food. Both the Shepard's Pie & Bailey's Chocolate Cake were scrumptious & my husband says his Bangers & mash were delicious, too. Mary
Went with a party of 6. The waiter split our checks for us with no problem. Food is always good. Will be back.
I very much enjoyed the environment and the food. The spinach crab dip was delicious. And while I am not a Maryland crab cake expert, I LOVED the crab cakes dinner. The vegetables with it were outstanding, crisp and really tasty.
The restaurant is very nice. It is a large hall more then a quaint restaurant. The bar is very large. And was packed. If you are looking for a lively atmosphere it is a great place. The food was very good too. I. had the onion soup which was probably the best onion soup I have had in a restaurant. My husband had the wings which were really good too. For the main meal my husband ordered the fish and chips which he said was very good. I opted for the Rueben which to be honest was delicious too. The music was very good too. And what is really nice is that the musician is placed high above the bar so the music is not deafening but enjoyable. I would give this place 5 stars not only for all the things I mentioned but also because they have only been opened for 3 weeks and honestly for the most part ran very smoothly. I really wish I had noted my waitresses name because she was fantastic. We were seated upstairs where there are only a few tables along with some bar tables. She had to run up and down the stairs and was more attentive then most waitresses. I would definitely be returning!
We choose the pub food from broad menu, but it's very tasty pub food. We all enjoyed our choices. Atmosphere is good, if a little noisy.... But that seems to be the norm in restaurants these days. Waitress was delightful. We'd definitely go back.
Very friendly and fast service. Easily accommodated my large party and even took car of separate checks. Will go back and recommend to friends.
Fish and chips were very good, as were the salads and calamari appetizer.
Needed to grab a quick bite on a Friday night and this was near our hotel. I think I would like this place in the summer. Large outdoor bar area. However, the noise from the bar was deafening. There were some large groups and live music in the bar so it was a bit much. Holiday gatherings...I get it! :)
Food was good but nothing spectacular. Lots of options.
Fantastic staff, great service and good food. Our grandchildren had a ball.
All of us had the Guinness beef stew and we all loved it!
Have not been here in long time but staying across the street at Hilton Garden Inn for work. Wanted quick dinner and they sat me right away and took my order quickly too. Ordered 3 appetizers off happy hour menu and all were great! I love fried pickles and order whenever I see them. These here were one of the best I tried. Chicken kabob was very tender and thoroughly enjoyed as well. Last, there mussels were fantastic; ask for a spoon so you can enjoy the broth. Great Irish bar with all types of food. Great service too! I'll be coming back again!
Our daughter is getting married in Balt this coming weekend.
Our server (Samantha) was superb. Our food was hot, delicious, and served in the order we asked for. We had visited an 'imported' Irish bar in Austin, Texas (B.D. Riley's) - the James Joyce Irish Pub gave us the same authentic feeling - truly felt like you were on the Emerald Isle.
Happy Hour was very reasonable - good amounts of quality beers for reasonable prices (until 7pm).
We were there for dinner before a Steely Dan concert at Pier 6 so the 'convenience factor' was off the chart. However, without the convenience of the upcoming show, this place was still a complete pleasure to experience. We shall return and strongly recommend that our friends do the same.
P.S. We got jammed up in traffic heading north on 95, called ahead to see if we could adjust our reservation. We were greeted with both a pleasant voice and a pleasant attitude - the adjustment was made and we were able to arrive on time - pressure free.
We had a great time and enjoyed our experience . Food was goos
The old bay wings were amazing! The live music was just right!
Hostess was a sweetheart. She saw that we were having problems taking a picture of our group, (my arm doesn't extend as much as I needed it to), so she came over to take the pic for us. Thank you for that!! Our server was very knowledgeable about the food as well as the drinks menu. The only thing was, he hit the wrong button when ordering our food and we received the wrong meals. But they were very quick to correct their mistake and get us the right meals. Great atmosphere. Will definitely go back. Thank you all so much for making our experience great!
If you are looking for a restaurant with cold beer and good food, than this is for you. I had the Sheppard’s pie and it was amazing. The service is fast and friendly. I believe this place is a hidden gem in the inner harbor area.
Dined here based on a recommendation by a hotel clerk. Was not disappointed. Food was good quality and authentic Irish/English pub type. Service was pleasant and attentive. Atmosphere was nice.
