You go to James' Beach for the atmosphere. The food was sub-par and the service was nonexistent.
My server was not bad I only gave 3 stars because they were understaffed. But they were very friendly and the food, especially the tuna poke was awesome! Good prices, nice little spot! The manager was super nice and personable. He came over and said hello and apologized that we waited. It made all the difference in th world too! We will be back for sure!
Unfortunately our waiter ignored us instead of coming to check in when It️ became abundantly clear our order had been lost. There were other waiters and busboys who became attentive and took additional drink orders, brought water glasses to the table, and asked how we were doing. No drinks comped, no apologies, in fact the waiter didn’t even speak to us after our entrees were cleared he just put the dessert menus on the table and walked away. Strange meal out.
Awesome outdoor dining and feels away from the crazy of Venice beach. Great service, awesome fish tacos. Volcano roll is a great sushi appetizer and I love Dogtown Duck Ipa. Will definitely return.
Food was absolutely horrible! Tuna poke was kind of gross. Rotisserie chicken was dry with stuffing? It was just burnt croutons. The brussel sprouts were hard and flavorless. My friend said her meal, duck tacos, was not good. Ok, the truffle fries were good but that’s it.
James Beach is a perfect combination of location, great food and great service! The inside patio is really fun for lunch or to sit at the bar - I have been there so many times but never actually eaten on the restaurant side. Menu has fresh, local ingredients and always has a few new dishes to try. We live in the neighborhood and James Beach is our go to weekend lunch spot and fun place to bring visitors - you won't get better food and service this close to the beach in Venice!
Totally enjoyed this brunch. But please, please, eliminate the plastic straws for the drinks. WTF, you are at the beach Save the Bay.
The Dinner here is always consistent. A fun restaurant for a double date or entertaining a client. The indoor/outdoor area give a fun flow to both rooms.
Delicious brunch, great service and James is the kindest!
Good time and great service. The food was okay - falafel burger was dry. But overall a great location.
This restaurant was horrible. I asked for a Tito’s martini and it tasted like rubbing alcohol. The menu was overpriced and the food was not fresh. I asked if the crab cakes were fresh & were told they were but they were most definitely not. The food was dry & we left very disappointed. I wish we had not gone here it was our first night in Venice & thankfully our only poor dining experience of the trip.
We have been coming to James Beach since it opened. James and Danny the owners are consummate restuaranters. The food is freshly cooked and delicious. The service personal and first rate. It is home.
On top of this Danny is a phenomenally good artist and his paintings on the wall express the feeling of what it is like to lead a west coast life.
It is an experience not to be missed.
We made the trip to L.A. from N. CA and had James Beach on our must visit list. You did not disappoint! Thank you for such beautiful service and a lovely lunch....xx
We went to James' Beach on New Years Eve. Due to the Rose Bowl, I had made reservations in advance. When we arrived, the restaurant was not full. We had a party of 7 and service was exceptional. We were checked on many times during our meal. My daughter and I both had the Mahi Mahi Tacos. They were really good! I would recommend James' Beach to anyone visiting Venice Beach. The Christmas decorations were really fun!
JJ WAS IUR SERVER AND SHE WAS SO NICE AND FRIENDLY. Food was great! Service was great! Ambience was cool!
This is my 3rd or 4th time at James Beach for brunch and I still adore it. The ambience is so comfortable and the staff is very friendly. It's in a great location and the service is very quick. I love their salads and all of the breakfast options. Mimosas and bloody marys are great as well!
Great place, excellent menu / not big but everything on it is very good. Salmon, turkey burger gourmet, specials like fried chicken, excellent steaks, and a very good wine list. Modest pricing for a high end restaurant on the Westside. A jewel. Highly recommended.
Mahi mahi tacos outstanding. Getting a server’s attention near impossible.
Loved the fish tacos! Received a free dessert for my birthday. This is one of our favorite places to eat at the beach!
Extraordinarily overrated. Terrible tacos - despite the fact that this is literally the main thing they claim to be famous for. Food was overpriced and inauthentic. So disappointed. Do not recommend.
