Jambalaya Ratings and Reviews
Restaurant was empty upon our arrival at 5:30pm which made me a slight bit concerned. We were greeted and sat immediately. Slight language barrier with server made getting menu recommendations difficult. She made sure to make us aware of the "all you can eat" Friday Fish Fry, but did not elaborate on what was included. Started with Seafood Gumbo that had all of the advertised ingredients, but lacked flavor, just like the Boudin Sausage Sandwich I ordered. Wife had the Jambalaya which she stated was just the right size and flavorful. Bill was presented quickly and visit was concluded with nothing overly special to brag about.
We ordered their Calamari, Tator Tot Tower, Truffle Chips, Kids Mac N Cheese, Kids Hot Dog and Chef Special Honey Blone Beer Burger. The calamari was very chewy, the tator tot tower was great, my 4 year old loved the Mac N Cheese, the truffle chips say it comes with a side of sour creme but it was slathered all over the top, and the burger originally came out with two bottom halfs of a bun and was way over cooked. After the second burger came out it was cooked to the proper temp but they put very little honey blonde beer cheese on it. Needless to say I won't be back for dinner.
We came here both for dinner and did the breakfast buffet. Dinner, even though they were busy, our food came out quickly and hot. The wait staff was excellent. Everything tasted delicious. I had the smothered chicken, and my husband had the lobster mac and cheese. we both left full and happy.
After reserving a table ahead of time through their website, I showed up and they said that they do not accept table reservations. After being seated, we order drinks and an appetizer, which never came until our meals were already being served. The wait staff wasn't attentive.
The place is run down. Needs work. The food was unbalanced. I had Lobster Mac and Cheese. It had lots of Lobster but the cheeses that were chosen overpowered the Lobster. You could not taste the Lobster. Further there was a pool of grease on the Mac and Cheese. Another person had Walleye Tacos with a cabbage slaw that had so much wasabi in it you could not taste anything but the wasabi. The other person in the group had the Ruben sandwich. He said the cord beef was tough and the sandwich was not grilled but the bread had been put in a toaster.
The only good food was the pretzel with beer cheese appetizer.
We couldn't find the restaurant in the building because there is no sign on it. The wait staff wore polo shirts and brought 2 of us water in plastic beer cups, everyone else has glasses. She never offered us a second drink or dessert. The website claims live music, there was none. The good was mediocre.
This place is run down and needs a makeover fast! The seats in the booth were very worn and the entire place just looks (and smells) old. We really wanted to like it so we could support a local business but we won't be back. The food (we had the lobster mac and cheese and fish fry) was just OK and with all the other choices available in St Charles and the surrounding area there is no need to settle.
Food was mediocre at best. Waitress barely spoke English. Waited about 10 minutes before we were asked if we wanted a drink. Then she disappeared for 10-15 minutes. Took our order and my wife asked what came with my daughters meal. She said "nothing". My wife pointed out that it said that she got a side right on the menu. Waitress replied, "oh". Then she disappeared again for 10 minutes while we finished our drinks and waited for her to come back and ask for refills. She brought our food, which was only ok, and then left again and wasn't seen for about 15-20 minutes. I could keep going and going but I'm sure you get the picture. Just a bad place.
The food was bland, and well over priced. It kind of took away from the "nice" dining atmosphere when you had other diners in swim suits, cover ups , and cut offs. I felt way out of place being dressed up to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I would not return.
Went to Jambalaya to celebrate our anniversary. It was our 1st time there. It is a small, very casual restaurant with very good food, drinks and service. Our waitress,Lucia, was totally swamped as it was quite busy. Yet everything was brought to us in a timely manner. My husband really enjoyed the Saturday Rib fest! I loved the fish and chips. Also we both had the seafood gumbo soup. Yummy!! We will definitely be back with the rest of the family.
Extremely bad experience, food to salty, noise level for 1/2 full place was very bad, service spotty, I had a fish sandwich with one small piece of greasy fish in a big roll, very dry . greasy fries all for $10.50, $4 cup of soup 3/4 full no crackers, had to ask for bread and tarter sauce! would not recommend nor would i return!
Went there on Mardi gras night had a buffet with fish, jambalaya, gumbo and that was about it for the hot foods..a great big disappointment...was crowded because there was an event going on in one of the banquet rooms so of course the wait service was slow. Ordered drinks and they came after our first plate was almost done.. service slow, bar is slow and a below buffet...terrible.
Made a last minute New Years Eve reservation and was able to get a table. The food was OK and moderately priced. They didn't appear to raise their prices for this evening like many restaurants do, so that was a good thing. What stood out for us was the service. I think our server was very attentive and helpful. She appeared to enjoy working on a night traditionally reserved for partying.
