Jamaica Me Hungry Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is small and not fancy. However, the service was excellent and the food was very good. The curry could have a little more spice. The jerk seasoning is excellent. The location is small but bright with excellent music. Our server offered extra jerk spice and barbecue sauce without being asked. The portions are large.
I thought an automatic gratuity for parties of five or more was a bit surprising. I would think eight or more is more the norm.
It was very quiet in the restaurant so we didn't need a reservation but when we got there and said we had one she had no clue what we were talking about. The AC was barely on so it was stuffy and warm in there on a very warm humid night. The coconut shrimps appy was very good. The ribs were good the fish and chips were good but the Caribbean Crab Cakes really had no flavor. The sautéed garlic string beans were severely overcooked. Over server was very attentive and she was there alone and a large group came in too.
Had the Cuban sandwich.. Really good and authentic. Family ordered quesadilla and were great.
Went back for breakfast to load up again.. Very good. Servers all helped each other .. Nice place.
Gets a little loud with the kids but after all... it's the shore..
There was nothing to choose on the list to check great for dinner and we went for dinner. Make a reservation for better seating. Very small but great service and food. The meat pies are amazing and the spicy sauce served with YUM! My husband and I ordered the special which was a shrimp and scallop combo. I almost didn't order that because I'm not that keen on scallops but am so glad I did. They were the sweetest, best cooked most delicious I've ever eaten! It's a B.Y.O.B. The teens ordered the ribs which are smoked on premise and were delicious and the burger which was the highest quality. This was our 2nd visit, the 1st being last year on vacation. We went on a Wed night then for the all you can eat ribs and enjoyed it so much we made a point to go back this year. I'm afraid I don't remember our servers name but she was an attentive and sweet blond girl. Both times I've been there the service was fantastic!
Food was good. Service excellent. Went for the all you can eat ribs on Wed evening. We were told they were out of crab cakes and the macadamia fish. Thought that was strange as it was only 6. One of our 4 didn't care for the ribs as hers was over cooked. The meat pie and soup was very good. Family run business. Nosy atmosphere. Only a few tables so reservations a must!
This was my first visit, so I didn't know what to expect. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted by our server and seated immediately. The lace is small, but decorated really cool; quite the island feel. Also, it's immaculate. The menu isn't very extensive, but still has something everyone can enjoy. My husband had the ribs, which were fabulous. I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich, it was delicious.
Highly recommend the crab bruschetta! Will definitely go back again:)
My son and I visited recently - picked it out as a reasonable dining experience. Arrived right on time (6pm), were seated in the back of the restaurant - which is fairly cozy - and then remarkably waited 20 minutes for anyone to talk to us. Mind you - 4 servers and 7 tables seated, including us. Huh? I was ready to leave, but a nice waitress (Romanian exchange visa) asked if we had been helped, and then took over. Everything went very well after that - food was very good (except coleslaw was warm...). One other issue - didn't know it was BYOB - but wasn't drinking so it didn't matter - but if you want a brew with your ribs - better bring it.
