Jalapeno's Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food is excellent; a wide variety of choices so there was something for everyone in our group of 8. While I personally enjoy the Dos Esquis on draft; I did not some took advantage of the homemade sangria and the excellent margaruitas they prepare.
No complaints from our group, which is a good batting average.
We love this restaurant and have been there many times. The food is superb as is the prompt and friendly service. On New Year's Eve, eight of us shared a carafe of Sangria and Margaritas and they were delicious.
I love the ambiance in the main dining area. On New Year's Eve, we were placed in the bar area which I didn't care for very much. The lights were bright, it was louder and wasn't cozy like the main dining area. However, we were probably placed there because the main dining area was full; we just booked the table the night before New Year's. Next time I would request to be seated in the main dining area. But, we all had a great time and the food, drinks and service were excellent.
Best Salsa and chips in the Boston area, and that's only the beginning. A fine selection of meats and seafood to wet your appetite and top it off with dessert. Dos Equis on draft and fantastic sangria = a happy night before Thanksgiving meal.
Bring your family and friends and enjoy for any reason or any occasion.
Food was pretty decent - although it felt like the food was prepared way ahead of time (maybe day or two). Would like to see it prepared the day of (for the dishes that require more cooking time).
Service was very very good - may go back again - as there are no authentic Mexican joints nearby ( I consider Acapulco's on Route 1 as 'meets the lowest common denominator' type of food.
went for dinner. food was excellent very authentic mexican. adults has the carne asada tacos, and the surf and turf. steak was cooked as ordered (med-rare) and scallops and shrimps were good (shrimps weren't cleaned which is a bit yucky). the sauce on the surf and turf was really tasty and a bit spicy, the sauted spinach was a nice surprise. tacos were very good and came with rice and black beans. kids had enchilladas, one with mole and one with green sauce. both were good, but kids liked green sauce better. Churros rocked. house margarita is ok, seems a bit light on the alcohol. service was very good, waitress was attentive, they have a pretty extensive menu, took us some time to settle on dinner and she was patient with us.
We were hesitant to drive the extra 15 - 20 minutes but we thought we would try it out. We were a party of 6 - 2 small kids, 2 teens, 2 adults. All of us are huge lovers of mexican food. We were not disappointed, our waiter was excellent and tolerated our 4 year old very well. Handsdown it is the BEST Mexican in the area. If I was to make a suggestion at all - it would be the kids tacos come in soft or hard corn shells - if your kids prefer the flour soft tortillas - you have to request them.
Best Mexican food around - too bad I spent so long thinking Acapulco's was actually good - Jalapeno's puts them to shame. There's a few two-person tables outside along the street; Walpole center is a nice blend of quiet and active, so it's a nice place to enjoy an outdoor meal.
Try the house sangria - it's awesome! Lots of different tequilas and margaritas too, so the drink menu is as good as the food menu. Never had a bad experience at Jalapeno's...one of our favorites!
I love Jalepenos. It's owned by Mexicans, not some corporation, and the food shows. It's fresh and delicious - spicy if you want, but lots of choices that aren't hot at all (Pollo Tomas!). The dining room is charming and colorful. Soda refills are free and adult beverages are awesome. This place is one of the few restaurants around with quality food, moderate prices and an atmosphere appropriate for group dates, families, girls' nights out, a casual couples dinner, a first date - every situation except fancy/romantic. And did I mention it's not a chain!
Our family enjoys eating here. Sometimes Mexican food is heavy but at Jalapenos it is not. Everything tastes fresh. The desserts are tasty too. At the end of the meal the waiter asked us if we wanted to buy a $25 certificate for $10. We knew we would like to come back so we bought one.
Truly delicious Mexican cuisine that goes beyond your standard fajitas or burritos (though those are included!). Quite pricy with average size entrees. Authentic decor made for enjoyable surroundings. Only truly negative part of our dining experience was the service. Dinner took forever to be served (we finally ate at 9:30 despite being seated at 8:00). Would have possibly expected this had we ordered more complicated fare, but two fajitas and a burrito should never take this long! After all that wait we ate quickly and then had to wait again for our bill, which charged us for a beer no one at the table ordered. All in all, the food quality and selection would lead me to recommend Jalapeno's with ample warning about subpar service!
Food was very good, but the service was absolutely terrible - waitress didn't know the menu, didn't let us know about the specials or provide a list of them (but did grab one to reference while we were ordering), and left the 5 of us (incl. 3 kids) with empty drink glasses for 10-15 minute stretches on two separate occasions. Our meals took an hour to arrive, but not sure if this was a kitchen issue or a server issue. If not for the service issues, I'd be very comfortable recommending Jalapeno's Grill to others.
Food was the antithesis of chain tex mex- fresh, authentic flavors jumped off the plate, margaritas were huge, and the owner/waiter was genuinely excited to share his restaurant with us. Great location right in the center of town. Kudos to Jalepenos, and we'll be back many time over.
