Service was so slow. I think our server was either new or just working in an industry that isn’t his calling. Food took 70 minutes after we ordered (it was fried chicken, MR filet and a pasta). He either forgot to put in our order or assumed we had all the time in the world.
Water glasses were often left needing to be refilled and he missed a lot of the small gestures that make Jakes so appealing to us as a place to dine.
Ordered the featured dessert - peppermint chocolate cake. It was not at all what we were expecting and needless to say, we didn’t finish it. Definitely won’t make that mistake again.
My husbands birthday. Our server was great!! She was fun and friendly and on top of all our needs!! And the food was amazing!! As it always is!
Everything was simply spot-on. The service, the food, and the ambiance. I loved the char on my ribeye, and my husband loved the cook on the coconut shrimp. When we go out to eat, which is seldom, we expect something above and beyond what we prepare at home. They captured that completely. Loved that service was attentive, but not overwhelming. Some servers can distract from your date - they were very respectful of the fact that we didn't choose to dine there to have a date with those waiting on us. We will back.
Visited Montana and decided to try this restaurant as we were in the hotel next door. Enjoyed our meal thoroughly. Service was excellent. Will definitely go back.
My twin sister and I chose Jake's to celebrate our birthday. Our waiter, Peter, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our meals were delicious and the butter cake out of this world!
Outstanding service and very tasty food! Our server was excellent!
All 3 of us loves our meals. I had the chicken Oscar and it was amazing. Daughter had shrimp and husband had a berry salad. Would absolutely go back!
The food was delicious and we had a good waiter, he was a little awkward but not enough to ruin the night. Would 100% recommend for a fancy dinner night out
The meal itself was wonderful. I had the 16oz ribeye with halibut. I just wish the potatoes were smaller and was hoping for some asparagus.
The food was excellent and the service, staff and restaurant are top notch! Always enjoyable!
Food was very good, but the duck was not crispy, delicious but not crispy, otherwise would be 5 stars for food. Service was wonderful, drinks delicious
When server brought salads asked if we wanted bread. Arrived after done eating salads. I had shrimp. It was okay at best. Two in my party ordered rib eyes which were delicious. One ordered garlic mashed and one rice. Both came with potatoes. The other guest ordered one of the salmon or halibut specials with asparagus but did not receive asparagus. A team came quickly with rice, asparagus and something that needed to be sprinkled on the fish. When the server followed up she said “maybe this is where the missing rib eye went.” When the leftovers were boxed the potatoes, not the rice were included. My wife and I were with family so I didn’t make a scene but feel the server should have made an adjustment to our check.
My husband and I took 2 couples from his company out for dinner. We were seated right away with drink orders taken that was the last time anyone asked us about drinks throughout the entire dinner. We finally gave up and brought a pitcher of water to our table.
Once the food arrived for the table my dinner never did. About 5 mins after everyone's food came out we finally caught our waiter as he leaving another table to ask about my dinner. He explained my steak was cooked wrong and another one was being prepared. The issue here we had to ask, normally your waiter would come out immediately and explain. After asking a 2nd time and everyone else was almost finished eating my dinner finally arrived. He never came and asked anyone if their order was correct.
They did comp our desserts. The issue here was lack of service not the food. For that reason I cannot recommend Jakes when you are in Billings.
Overrated. Give it a 3 star only. Ok but not even close to 4 or 5 star.
Great baseball steak. Beefy chicken soup is excellent!
As always Jake's was excellent. It's my husband and my favorite place for date night and special occasions. Food, service and atmosphere are off the charts!
The service was the best I have ever had. Attentive staff, welcoming, knowledgeable, followed all the correct service steps. The food was amazing. The special salad dressing was fresh and tasty. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Everything was the best that it could be. I have been twice in the last month and both times were incredible experiences. Thank you for having a true dining experience, not just throwing some food down on the table.
The seasonal Huckleberry martini was good. The prime rib was a great deal for the size!
Dinner was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and the appetizers as well. Room was very noisy but that might be due to the fact that it was a very busy Friday night and prime dinner time. Server was very friendly and cheerful and food arrived promptly.
The server was awful, I will not plan returning any time soon. The server was Conner and he should really be working at McDonalds and not Jakes. He was more worried about the larger tables and the tips. Sadly, I still paid him 20% anyway. Very disappointing!
Best steak in Billings! Do eat Jake’s Great Filet - amazeballs!
It was my birthday and I had the honor of being escorted by clients. Prior to seating Peter came out and visited with us as we waited to get the table ready. He was the manager on duty and I know he didn't need to do that but he went out of his way to make us feel special. Upon seating the service was second to none with the waitress always checking for beverages, appetizers, deserts, etc. Although pricey, the meal was of the highest quality. I had the prime rib and it was cooked just the way I wanted it. I don't think I have ever had a meal that tasted better. My hat is off to the crew at Jakes for a wonderful dining experience.
Steak was good, but I wouldn’t say great. Overall satisfied
Quite possibly the best service I have ever experienced! Food was just as outstanding! Well done in every aspect Jakes.
I arrived a few minutes before my reservation. The hostess was on the telephone and there was a large party waiting who did not have a reservation. I moved to stand so that when she was off the phone I could let her know I had arrived, but when she hung up the phone she just walked away not even acknowledging I was there. When she returned the manager and another hostess were with her. Neither acknowledge me. I understand they were trying to accommodate the party behind me, however to be standing not a foot away and not even look at me was odd. They all walked away again. When the two hostesses finally returned the first one walked around me to attend to something else, the other finally looked at me and although it seemed to pain her asked if I had been helped. I replied no I haven't and she said, "What?", so I repeated myself and was finally shown to my table. The service the rest of the evening was wonderful, our waitress was nice, attentive and knowledgeable. I have until that evening only eaten at Jake's for lunch, and for the prices on the dinner menu was expecting incredible food. My experience was that the food was just okay, nothing really of note or exciting. Even dessert was just alright. I believe I will keep this as an occasional lunch spot as the food I have had from the lunch menu is always good, nothing incredible but at lunch I don't expect incredible.
I don't believe we have ever had a bad experience at Jake's. Always great service, always great food, always great dessert!!
I am not a complainer but since you asked for my feedback I will share some. I came for prime rib and it was a disappointment. I asked for medium rare and what I received was medium well. Jake’s opens at five, I was there at 5:30 thought it would be fresh but It tasted like it been sitting in a warmer for several hours. The rest of the meal was good and the server was great but I came for prime rib.
Decent food and good service. Patrons were obnoxiously loud with poor manners for it being a nice restaurant.
Great service with attentive staff. But my first plate was served with “refrigerator cool” prime rib. The staff addressed the issue promptly and courteously but the second plate was cool with a under cooked baked potatoe. I didn’t feel up to a third attempt so we finished up and moved on.
We loved it! Great food, attentive service.
Our server was great, the Sav Blanc glass was great, Jake's Chicken hit the spot but the chicken itself could've used a bit more seasoning. Kinda loud but I expected that (dining section). Overall I'll def be back!
Our appetizers and wine were delicious! Our steaks weren’t as tender as we would have liked but overall great restaurant!
Had my first meal in Billings at Jakes after my interview at St V. Now moving to NC. My last meal in Billings at Jakes
Good meal. Good service. Altogether very nice. As always
Good as always, but it would be nice to see more lower fat, healthy options.
Greeters were very friendly, decently quick service at the bar while we waited for our table. Table was ready right on time. Our server didn’t introduce herself and was a tad awkward. She got our order correct and refilled drinks quickly. Decent food, although my date found a hair in his horseradish. His meal was comped (as it should be), but overall the awkward service and hair-finding put a damper on the night.
Loved the shrimp scampi - not loaded w/ cream. Pear parfait was excellent. Relaxed, comfortable dining area.
Coconut shrimp was very tasty and was served well before the entree. Ribeye was cooked to medium rare perfection. Service was excellent.
Food and service were great. Had to wait a little while on the entree but the desert more than made up for the delay.
