Jake's - Palm Springs Ratings and Reviews
Jake's is favorite and going there is like visiting a friend's home. I'm always welcomed. The food is great, though I have to admit that I go back and forth between two dishes nearly every time: the Miami Vice and Ahi Tuna salads. However, next time I'm going to have a steak salad one of my friends had, though I don't see it on the menu at the moment when I searched for its name (perhaps it was a special).
One of the reasons I like dining at Jake's is the outside patio. The weather in Palm Springs is perfect (and will be until late May!), so the patio is delightful. It's small and enclosed on one side by a huge ficus hedge. You feel cozy and "outdoors" at the same time.
Generally fine. Our server & other staff were wonderful. The food was generally too spicy especially the roasted potatoes & fish tacos. Good thing we were able to tolerate it but it shouldn't have come that way without notice. One of us ordered chicken quesadilla which came without cheese. Though it took a bit of time, a new one was prepared for him. feels like the chef on that afternoon wasn't on top of his/her game. Of course we'll come back but if this keeps happening, at some point we'll be much less likely to do so. Our server, again, was wonderful, really added to the fun of being there.
Without realizing until we were ready to order, we all ended up requesting the cioppino. It was delicious and loaded with lots of seafood, more than expected, even including a soft shell crab on top. Of the best we've ever had. Definitely will plan to come back again for more!
We were attending a conference in the Palm Springs area. I do not like being trapped at golf resorts, so off we went to Jake's for brunch.
It's rare to find a place that has such consistent reviews--and now that we have eaten there, I'm joining the fan club. I had avocado toast--I know, it's a thing--but truly, this was very much above what I expected. Hubby had the croque and eggs--he raved too. We could not resist the carrot cake for dessert--and our server gave us a half portion (still way too much) so I felt better about not wasting such a delicious cake. Don't miss the baked goods!
The menu is eclectic, and the food outstanding. Drinks are just as good. Lovely patio area--with enough shade for a person prone to sunburn to be comfortable, but still have nice natural light.
Our server was great. It's clear that this is a place that locals love--and we will definitely be back next time business brings us here.
This small, intimate, buzzing, and casually elegant spot is a must for getting together with valued friends. Always congenial, Jake's greets us warmly and is attentive to our interests. They deliver high quality meals with personal care, yet let us become engrossed in talking with friends without interfering. We loved the barramundi and shrimp along with watermelon gazpacho. It is atop our favorites list.
Jake’s is a fine experience and well worth an evening with friends. The meals we had were perfectly prepared, well presented and delicious. Service was appropriately attentive and pleasant. Other patrons were enjoying themselves and seemed to be as satisfied as we were. If there is anything to change it would be the chairs. That said we’ll return again. A delightful evening.
I have been to Jake's several times and I have never been disappointed. We were there on November 22, 2017 and we had a delicious meal. The ambiance is always a favourite and staff are always pleasant. Food is very tasty and the desserts are irresistible.....
I look forward to my next dining experience there.
We have been going to Jakes since it opened in Palm Springs. It is our favorite place to take friends and family. The food and service is always the best. We have so many favorite Lunch and Dinner items. For lunch the seared tuna wrap and Miami vice salad are our lunch favorites. The dinners are the most impressive with fine dinning quality. The specials are always amazing. We live in Old Las Palmas and we always meet neighbors at Jakes. The owners are always present and working so hard to make sure everyone is happy. The cakes have to best in the Valley. Jakes is the best resturant in Palm Springs!
Have been a big fan of Jake’s for the last several years. Service and drinks are always good and so is the ambiance. We were here last year, about the same time and we were REALLY surprised at the small size our appetizer and entrees. Their portion size in the past was much bigger and this was quite surprising. We actually were still a bit hungry when we left. Food was good, although expected more from this visit.
The last two times we have eaten at Jakes have been definitely disappointing. We thought we'd take our out of town friends to a nice place for brunch on Saturday.
The food was horrible. The Cuban sand which was dry and cold. There is too much bread and it was not even toasted or grilled very much so it was like eating dry meat and cheese with two slices of semi-mushy thick bread. Hardly any pickles or flavor whatsoever and the salad dressing was like a sour dish soap. Milky and watery. One guest ordered egg whites and bacon. There looked to be only one egg on his plate and way over done and greasy bacon. How do you even manage to do that??? Overdone but still greasy??
There are virtually no gluten free options on the menu except for bland "salads"....the tarragon chicken salad had absolutely no tarragon flavor. If you're going to sell a salad as "tarragon Chicken Salad" at least put some of the main herb in it. A little salt and pepper would be helpful as well.
Overall we are pretty much done with this place. The only thing going for it is the atmosphere which is a cute and outdoorsy patio...but the food doesn't have any value.
Jake's is our regular easy dinner out - when we can get a seat outside. The atmosphere in the courtyard is exceptional but the inside is a little too cramped and cozy for our taste. The food is generally good, but not spectacular. Best of all, the bar is a great option if you can't get a table. Fun place to be and watch the always-playing vintage movie on the screen behind the bar.
Fabulous brunch at Jake’s. Amazing Bloody Mary’s - particularly the Horseradish infused vodka. Delicious. Great food - my hubby was blown away by the maple bacon. I had eggs in purgatory which were good too although I wish they’d been baked all together in a skillet it felt like they were constructed into one bowl after each component had been cooked - asked for toast to mop up the sauce though because it was still tasty. Took several slices of the coconut cake home and ate them later - totally delicious. We loved the decor and the vibe - laid back, stylish and very very welcoming. Great job Jake’s - if we’re ever in Palm Springs again we will be back! Thanks for having us!
Brunch was terrific! Great menu items. Everything is delicious. Jake's is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. But here's a little non-Jake related request: Diners...when you are going to a restaurant, please don't slather yourself with perfume or cologne. Doesn't matter how expensive it is, I want to taste my food, not be overwhelmed by your cologne.
