Jake's - Palm Springs Ratings and Reviews
Had to wait a half an hour after our reservation time but we had a nice table in the corner on the front patio so the wait was worth it. Filet of sole was excellent (but would have liked to have seen it paired with a green vegetable instead of faro--if for nothing else but a little color!). Our waiter (Mark?) was very attentive, friendly and professional. All this is why I'll come back again.
The salad which was on every plate was dressed with a rancid tasting lemon vinaigrette. We suspected either the lemon wasn't ripe or sat too long after it was mixed but it was awful. My saltenbucco sandwich was gross with boneless skinless flavorless dry chicken with cold mozzarella, I expected melted and prosciutto. The prosciutto was good . I picked it out and left the rest but no one noticed. The tail meat lobster roll looked like it was on a small wiener roll. The tail meat was minced so it could have come from anywhere. Horrible. There were four of us and only one meal was acceptable. Even the luscious looking banana chocolate cake for desert had dry chocolate icing that cracked and wouldn't stick to the fork. One in our party was sick the entire next day.
Was highly recommended by family members who have gone there for lunch. We booked a table for early dinner on Valentine's Day. We ate inside but noticed that there is an attractive inner courtyard. Attentive and friendly service, not at all stuffy. We were offered a complimentary appetizer. There was a special limited menu and we were both able to make choices easily. The quality and presentation of our dinner was excellent. We did not order dessert but were offered complimentary chocolate dipped strawberries. We noticed that they are known for their cakes. Will definitely return when in Palm Springs.
Second time we have been to Jakes, and it did not disappoint! Staff is extremely friendly and prompt, food is amazing and the cake for desert.......WOW! The atmosphere is absolutely incredible! We will have at least one meal there every time we visit Palm Springs from canada.
6 of us for a pre-valentines day get together. we had a wonderful time, thank you jakes! we ordered a variety of dishes, from the comfort food meatloaf with truffle mac+cheese, to perfectly cooked steak filets, blackened salmon, sea bass and cioppino...so good!! great service, very pleased.
Always tasty menu and good service at Jakes. I had the Cobb salad which was very good. One of our party had the french toast breakfast while another enjoyed a mouth watering BLT. We topped it off with a piece of cake for the table which was enough. Jakes is always a good choice for lunch in Palm Springs.
Our dinner at Jakes was the best cooking we have had in Palm Springs this season.
Steaks perfectly done, not one bit overcooked like another high end in town, that I won't mention.
Service was attentive, but not pushy, felt like we were there to have our own fun, not to be rushed in and out.
It is on the top of our list!
Came to Jake's because we loved the story behind the name. Jake was so cute and especially loved his pictures on the walls. Just wish we could have seen Jackson on the premises. Visited with old friends on the patio for lunch and we all had a great experience. Would definitely return.
As usual, everything was excellent. Consistently great service, consistently great food, consistently great atmosphere. I love bringing friends who are first timers... they are always impressed by every element. And that you actually had my Salted Caramel Vanilla cake on this visit made everything stellar! Another fabulous lunch! Proud to call Jake’s my favorite eatery in Palm Springs! Thanks so much. I’ll be back again soon!
When we arrived, it was about 74 degrees outside and the restaurant had the overhead heaters on. They seated us beneath two heaters and it was at least 90 degrees. Why they did this, I don't know. They did turn them off on request. The restaurant seems to think that everyone likes disco music and plays it loudly. This interferes with the dining experience.
We had a great Saturday brunch at Jakes. We sat in the courtyard and the service was excellent. You can tell everyone enjoys working there and the soft shell crab sandwich was the best I've ever had. My husband had one of their infamous bloody mary's and being pregnant, I enjoyed their European Lemonade mocktail which reminded me of a mojito- yum! We ended brunch with their coconut cream cake and next time we are in Palm Springs, we will be back!
