Jake's - Palm Springs Ratings and Reviews
Great casual dining in the heart of Palm Springs. Service was very good. We had a patio reservation for lunch and were seated immediately. Blackened shrimp tacos and soft shell crab blt were fab. Great wine list by the glass...as a winemaker I really appreciate this. Neapolitan cake for dessert was HUGE and amazing.
Wonderful food - big portions! We took half our entrees home including delicious chocolate cake(couldn’t resist the desserts). Our service was top notch - thanks to Jerry (or Gerry?!?). We were not seated in the “patio” part of the restaurant which may have been more amiable but didn’t matter. Great place-don’t miss it!
I was extremely disappointed. It may sound trite, but I went in LARGE part for the Coconut Cake. Told the waitress "I too am ordering the Fixed Price, other 2 in party had ordered it." The lighting is poor when trying to read the menu, there is one electronic candle. Could not read the menu. When ordered the crab cake had the waitress advised that is not on the fixed price menu, I would have changed. I just chose an appetizer. Apparently there is some type of marking on the menu indicating what was covered. After she told me I could not order, I explained their (not mine) problems with the lights (usually I have my cell phone.) The matter got worse when she told the owner who kept starring at me and did not come to address the matter. Such horrible management for a small city with few decent choices of places to dine. I expect better of Jakes having dined there often and will certainly recount this story to many friends and think twice if I suggest we go again with friends. If the owner doesn't care, why should we support their business. I could have ordered the cake, but it was the matter that the owner did not address the issue with the patron, the waitress did not advise when ordering and the owner kept looking from behind the counter with direct view. How terrribly rude and offensive.
One of the best kept secrets of Palm Springs (except it’s not a secret)! The food is fantastic. The atmosphere is interesting. Must request outside seating when booking online. Dessert rivals anyplace in the desert! 5⭐️‘S Jake’s is definitely one of my favorites.
We were visiting the area to hike and wanted a good small local restaurant w/good food.
Checked reviews and liked the ratings and casualness of Jake’s. We were not terribly happy about our table right by front door but very much liked the people serving us. Our dinners were fine and the wine selection and price point were excellent. If ever this way again from San Diego we would probably stop in again.
We spent New Year's Eve at Jake's, had an excellent waiter, and almost died eating all that delicious cake. My off-menu vegetarian option (quinoa stuffed pepper with avocado) was a great meal considering this place is mostly a grill, and my friends loved their steaks and salmon.
We had another wonderful evening at Jake's. We spent New Years Eve here with family and enjoyed a delicious meal in a very cozy, intimate setting. This is our second year, so it looks like we have a new family tradition.
Our dinners were delicious and the service was outstanding, from start to finish. Thank you, Jake's. We will be back again soon!
New Year's is always a tough dining out night. The problem here was with the hostess. We were on time with our reservation, but she placed us in the worst table in the house. Right in the center path of the front desk, kitchen, bathroom, bar and all the other tables. There was one other table available, but it was pre-set for a larger party (who was late). We asked to move to the side. Her response was poor: we are putting larger tables (4 people!) on the side. If you want to be on the side, you should have requested that with your reservation. Always a good move - to blame the customer for what is just bad luck.
I understand it's New Year's and every table will be used. But can't you show some empathy? This is a very special annual dinner for us, and they treated it like it we were there for a quick bite. Starting off on the wrong foot really became insurmountable once we saw the non-stop parade of employees and customers. Hard to have a conversation when it was so crazy busy and we had to lean in to not be hit in the head with passers-by. It still happened a lot.
Food was very nice, and the server (Mark) was awesome. He was relaxed and did not try to move us through like cattle, even though the hostess was eager to turn our table. You can't clear plates and drop a dessert menu within 15 seconds of putting down a fork. I know you have another party coming in, but really, they are not going any where if they have to wait 5 minutes on NYE. We dropped $200 for dinner. Let the server decide who has over stayed. The table of 4 who took the side table ran passed the end time you gave them, and they were not nudged out. The awkwardness did not stop for us this night.
We like Jake's a lot. This was not their best night for us. I was hoping to start a NYE tradition, but I'll keep looking.
My group of 6 had a fun & delicious brunch here on the Sunday of New Year's wkend. I made an advanced rez online & were seated outside in their lovely patio. It is a very lovely setting with a bar towards the back (with a HOT bartender), a large wall of ivy, and open overhead. The waiter & support staff were great & attentive. Our orders & drinks all came out as ordered & were delicious. The place was pretty busy being a Sunday of the holiday wkend which didn't negatively impact our experience. Not a long wait to be seated or to get our drinks or our meals. I would absolutely recommend a fun & yummy brunch here with friends.
We had reservations at 6:45 and were promptly seated indoors as requested. My husband said his filet was the best he has ever had in Palm Springs. My salmon was perfectly cooked but too heavy on the chick peas. The reason for 3 stars for ambiance is that the tables are very close together.
