Jake's on the Lake
Great service, food and views. What more could you want.
Food deeee-lish. Cocktails can't go wrong. By observation, patrons were seated faily far apart. My wife and I were seated outside on the deck which being around 5pm had a wonderful fall view with the beautiful yellow leaves kissing onto the summer green. The lake was calm with a light breeze. The Menu offers a short but focused menu ranging from sea food to chicken. Because of my Lupus I can't with the Sea food and because of my Celiacs definitely not eating Gluten. Now the menu definately does not notate in anyway gluten free. You will feel like you have to say something. I didnt. The menu was self explanatory. I had the Apple Walnut Salad to start with the Jidori Huli Huli Chicken being my main course, paired with Spiced Blood Orange Prosecco Punch Coacktail. The Chicken is Gluten free. My wife being the Lucky Gluten eater started with the Warm Baked Brie, Slow BraisedShort Ribs and paired it with Warm Kahlua Coffee spiked. Together with Tip for a table of 2 we spent 150 with 20.00 Gratuity. The only thing I would encourage management to change with indicating menu as to which meals are gluten free, instead of having to ask a waitress about gluten, when they have no clue as to what your referring to.
Everything was excellent!
We had the halibut and sea bass. They were delicious!!
The setting was perfect. The wait staff was attentive without being obnoxious. The salmon special was delicious. The short ribs were a bit tough. The ribs definitely needed to be cooked longer for the desired tenderness
The sea bass my girlfriend got was under cooked.
I had always heard good things about Jakes on the Lake and Decided to check it out instead of our usual go—to, Garwoods. We were extremely disappointed. In the pandemic, I’ve lowered my expectations and given all restaurants and their employees the benefit of doubt because I know they are under tremendous pressure. The same privilege was applied here. We arrived to our 8pm reservation a couple minutes early and were told that they were cleaning a few tables and to wait outside. It took 25+ minutes to seat us, at which time we were seated at the worst table on the deck....furthest from the lake, next to the busy bus station. That happens. There was a better table (not much better) open, but I refrained from asking for it. Next, we were not approached for a good 10 minutes. Finally we had a drink and appetizer order taken. When I asked for set-ups, as the table next to us was given them upon being seated, our server took offense and acted as if my request was a reflection on her. It wasn’t, but then by her attitude, it became so. We ordered oysters. I don’t eat them, but the other 2 diners were going to share. We got one order and it was pathetic. There were 4 oysters, which ended up not even being that good; each were between the sized of a nickel and a quarter....for$18. Ripoff. I ordered the soup of the day, chicken tortilla. It was like a thick paste with very little chicken; by no means anything “Special”. Since we had a late lunch, we ordered salads for our entrees. All three of them were tremendously overdressed. Mine was so soggy that I literally couldn’t even eat 1/2 of it. After our food arrived, our server disappeared so there was no point in complaining. We just wanted to pay and get out of there. We asked for the check from someone else and still no server. I happened to have cash so we just paid cash. As we were leaving, she finally reappeared. I expressed my displeasure. She really didn’t care. We won’t return.
Would have been a 5 star if we did not have to wait for 30 minutes
Amazing all around!
Excellent. The food and the ambiance were so much better than other restaurants. Loved it
Great outdoor seating with view of the lake. Food was good (not great), but a bit over priced.
Beautiful setting on the deck overlooking Lake Tahoe at Tahoe City!
Nice outdoor dining experience
Jakes was OK, but we arrive early for our reservation (at OPENING) and were told to wait until they opened at 5 in some Adirondack chairs they had set out, away from and out of sight of the entrance to the dining area. We sat there an additional 10 minutes past the opening, thinking someone would come and get us (since we had a reservation, and identified ourselves when we arrived). By the time we realized they weren't coming to get us, they had seated many other people, and we nearly lost our outdoor seating
Once seated, the service was great, but the Mahi Mahi fish dinner which two of our party ordered was utterly flavorless. We thought maybe the chef forgot to add the seasonings.
The short ribs were divine, however!
Dinner date with girlfriend after weekend wedding
We have enjoyed Jake's for years. This year didnt disappoint! Fun, active location.
We usually love this place. Food & service are always excellent.
But we were very disappointed that they were not following social distancing protocols. After we were seated , they seated two other tables right next to us. The entire rest of the room had no occupants at all .
We had planned to have drinks, dinner and then hula pie. Instead we felt uncomfortable being in close proximity
To 7 other people . We decided to only have dinner & skip cocktails & dessert
So we could leave as soon as possible.
Unless things change, we won’t be back until corona virus is under control.
Food was delicious, service was excellent, lake view was beautiful. We’ll be back!
Very nice place for a Valentine dinner
We got a very cosy and quiet corner table feeling very private
Waitress was all about smiles, we enjoyed our dinner
Our waitress was awesome and the food was amazing!!! A beautiful sunset view made it that much more special
Jakes is a good restaurant and I’ve been before but this time i was sick from the food that night. Maybe the salmon was bad?
Overall good restaurant.
Always great food and that night the ribs were outstanding
The clam chowder soup is delicious!
Nice location, good food, weird seating choice given to us by the hostess. I am 6'8 and was put up against a wall on a tiny 4 top table with my wife and kids. Figured they did not give us the 6 top as another reservation had it but then they walked another party of four and sat them right down. Didn't make us feel too special.
Considerate service, great food, wonderful views made Jake’s an excellent option for my husband’s birthday celebration. We will be back often.
Our goal was to find a place on the lake with a beautiful view and great food and Jake's provided just that! We sat out on the patio, the heaters kept us plenty warm and the service was great. We would definitely go back.
Good location on Lake Tahoe, but 20-25% overpriced.
Great view. Most food and cocktails were excellent. Only exception was the petit filet and prawns which were way overcooked and tough (ordered medium, but received something closer to well done; completely grey center).
Went there for my birthday celebration and had a great time. We were seated outside with a beautiful view of the lake. Drinks were great. Dinner was delicious especially the Macadamia Crusted Halibut! All staff were friendly and professional! A little pricey but would definitely recommend...especially for special occasions.
An amazing experience ❤️
Love the food and ambiance
I especially like the variety in the temperature and textures of items on the plate. The ambiance and service were as good as always.
Good service. Awesome menu options. Hamachi crudo was great. Can’t beat the sunset view. One of our favorite spots in Tahoe.
The waitress was very nice and educated on the menu. The main dishes were very good, I ate lobster and my mother ate some halibut fish and my daughter had chicken teriyaki. The only disappointing thing was the desert which was peach cobbler. They mentioned it was gluten-free which is fine but didn’t mention that there is absolutely zero red in it. Second thing is they mentioned that his the season or dessert that is served but forgot to mention the canned peaches are included in that
Food is good but the views are the best. Service was very good as well. We'll be back!!
Food, service, atmosphere And view of the lake made for a perfect evening
Jakes is always great!
Nice views of the lake. Good service. Food was average and fairly expensive but as good as most North Tahoe restaurants. Very pleasant dining experience on a warm July night.
It was great. The baked Brie is unbelievable. The Manhattan martini was perfect. We had s great dining experience twice this month. Will try to make it one more time.
