We had a fun experience interacting with the Wait Staff, excellent service, a wonderful lake view, with excellent food and beverages. Enjoy the Aloha Tahoe spirit!

Hadn’t been to Jakes in many years and was pleasantly surprised. Much better than I recall. Always a beautiful view and especially nice on a sunny day after a long winter. My filet mignon was under cooked and they were on top of it. The chief even came to the table to apologize and make sure it was corrected to my satisfaction. The Caesar salad was on the small side but crisp and tasty. Christy, our waitress, was delightful. Attentive and full of positive vibes. And oh their gigantic mud pie was as good as I remembered.

Great environment, front lake view and really a place with a local character and vibe. Food is good, but nothing extraordinary...nice dishes to look at, but flavor is average.
The place is worth checking out, mostly for the view and location!

It's an older place, kind of musty. Great view, service just ok, she screwed up our order and didn't really offer to fix it, my sweet kind husband is easy going and ate what she brought out. The food was good, not great, prices were high. Think one time was good enough for me. I'd go maybe for a happy hour and the view next time "IF" there is a next time.

Dinner was good. Special fish, halibut, was out. My lady’s lobster was excellent. The main complaint is probably one that keep me from returning is the noise level was very loud. Very hard to talk to the person right next to you. The acoustics are very bad in there. The tables are virtually on top of each other. Food great , service ok, ambiance to loud thus poor.

We absolutely loved Jakes on the Lake as a post hike, easy cleanup, classic spot on Lake Tahoe. My Brother went for drinks on his 30th back in June so we decided to drive up from Reno (35 mins) to try the food. Arrived early and had drinks at the bar while they got our table ready. The atmosphere was incredible and the food was to die for. I live in nyc and am constantly searching for great food in other cities. Jake's hit all the marks and we had a very very special night with the fam. I would recommend this restaurant to pretty much everyone!

We are accustomed to excellent service and food quality at Jake's. Our visit on the 10th was a big let down. From painfully slow service to watery drinks to over cooked seafood, it was not an enjoyable evening. It will be a while before go back.

The four of us agreed that the food was okay. We liked the beautiful views and enjoyed watching the boats. The service was outstanding and the wait person went out of her way to get us the calimare that is usually only served in the bar area.

Steak & Prawns: terrific! Grilled Scallops: ditto. Table view of the lake was fantastic. The table for two itself was cramped for foot room and thus a bit uncomfortable. The service was very slow although the waitress herself was pleasant.

Excellent views! I brought my wife here for a nice dinner by the Lake and to have a fine dinning experience. I noticed the special had a NY Steak with Demi glace. I have not had real in house Demi glace in years. Indeed it was. Our Waitress Alysen made our night very nice. (Hope I spelled her name correctly.) The Wife had the Filet and I the NY. They were perfect. I had these little round goat cheese and potato spheres that were cooked to a creamy perfection. By the way, I despise goat cheese. This did not have that musky flavor. They were excellent. The Asparagus sprigs were tender with a slight crispness that was delicate. The Hula Pie with a fudge and macadamia nut topping had made a fantastic finish to our meal. Indeed, there is an experienced chef in this establishment. I will always remember our time at Jake's on the Lake. Bravo!

Great food and view. Been there a few times and the hostess always seems unfriendly and snobby. I’ve seen people walk up and wait uncomfortably for the hostess to greet them, as the hostess is busy on the phone or talking with other staff. You can easily take a moment to just say ‘Hi, I’ll be right with you’. Just acknowledge that the customer is standing in front of you. As this is the first point of contact with customers, they should hire more friendly and customer oriented hostesses. Always leaves a bad taste as you start your dining experience. Advice, greet people nicely as if you care about their day and their dining experience.

Nice atmosphere, a bit noisy, but not exceptionally so. We didn't try the bar, but it was enticing. The menu is all ala carte, but the plates include nice complements so extra sides are only for the very hungry. The sea scallops were wonderful, but sparse (only three); the sea bass portion was just about right, but still on the small side. The presentations and taste were superb for both dishes. Wonderful service. Prices were on the moderately high side ($32 for sea scallops, $34 for sea bass) and the wine by the glass selection was limited but adequate.
We'd go back.

Jake's is a fabulous restaurant with the best views arguably on all of Tahoe. The food has always been excellent and healthy. We are athletes and notice that we don't gain weight, despite consistently sumptuous food. We eat out weekly in the Truckee-North Tahoe area, and this is our favorite!

My wife ordered filet mignon and it was prepared as requested and tasted good. I ordered crab stuffed lobster and it was unedible. The chef added so much salt that you could not taste the lobster or the crab, just lots and lots of salt; it was the only thing you could taste. I ate the meal to avoid disrupting a birthday celebration dinner, but will not do that again; I'll send it back immediately. Usually Jake's food is fine, but not this time. It spoiled an otherwise nice birthday outing.

There were 4 of us for dinner recently and I had been looking forward to my visit. (I have been there many times over the years.) Unfortunately our server was not up to par. It was a long wait until she came to the table to acknowledge us. Table was set for 6 and she only cleared away 1 place setting instead of 2. Her language was inappropriate at times and they brought dessert before our dinner plates had been removed. One friend who used to have her own food business, said she would have fired her.
The food was delicious... No problem there...

Better than expected! There were six of us at an outside table with lovely view of the lake, heat lamps for when the temperature dropped. Our waitperson was Great, but the bussers were too anxious, and removed plates while I was still eating. Everyone enjoyed their main course. The scallops looked to be the more inspired plate if the bunch. Corkage of our bottle was waived with the purchase of another .
