   Everything was fantastic as always, however there was a 3-top behind us with a girl that was overly loud and would not stop talking. She was making comments about strippers and other things that maybe not everyone wanted to hear. It’s not the restaurant’s fault but that kind of ruined the atmosphere of a nice quiet dinner.

   We arrived right at 5:00 p.m. for dinner requested a window table. We were seated at a very small table for two. We asked for the table for four right next to it and we’re told that those tables for parties of three or four. About 15 minutes after we were seated a party of two was seated at that table. I immediately went to the hostess station to complain and was told that a party of four cancelled and they seated the next party of two who requested a window table. I told them that we were not happy and would have liked that table. For dinner we split the bison filet and paid the split charge. My wife’s half of the filet, but mine was chewy and grissly. If we are going to be charged $62 for a filet it should be a very good piece of meat. This was not. Also we both requested a side of cauliflower and got asparagus instead. We mentioned that to our wait person and she talked to chef who told her that he decided to make the change, but didn’t make it on the menu. On the plus side, our wait person was great and even talked the hostess desk about our table issue. When we left the both hostesses apologized to us.

   Since this was a birthday celebration, I had requested a table with a view of the lake— wow, did they deliver! We had the perfect table with a wonderful server, who perfectly timed our meal and even brought us a complimentary birthday cake to finish off our celebration. All this combined with live music made Jake’s perfect.

   This was a great place to have an anniversary dinner. Service was excellent and the view is great. Food was on the pricey side but worth the expense. Only complaint is that for where we sat, it was a bit on the noisy side for a restaurant. Overall great experience!

    We've been coming to Jake's for years, but the last few visits haven't lived up to the price tag. The server can make or break the experience right from the first interaction, and in our case the server was clearly in need of training. She may have been overworked or had too many tables to take care of, but our family of four was clearly an annoyance for her. When I spend over $360 for dinner for four, I would like to think the quality of the service would be commensurate with the price tag.

    The food was decent. We ordered the albacore special, chicken Marsala and the fish tacos. Good portion sizes for the entrees but the calamari for our appetizer was very small. Service was hit or misss but it looked like they might have been short servers that night.

    On Thursday night at 5:30, wonderful as always. Solo musician at bar started at 6:30. Very talented and energetic music, good for bar but too loud for restaurant.

    May be a different experience during the day, as they have a great location on the lake. Otherwise, a classic waterfront tourist trap with nothing to recommend other than a nice view in the right conditions.

    A snowy early December Monday in Lake Tahoe is pretty slow for restaurants but Jake’s on the Lake didn’t disappoint. The host greeted us warmly and guided us to a window seat looking over the lake. Beautiful! Kyle, our server was top notch and knows his wine list well. He mentioned cioppino as the special of the night and it was really spectacular—one of the best I’ve had. The broth had a lot of flavor, all the seafood was fresh and delicious, and the addition of vegetables topped with cilantro blended together for one excellent meal. If it’s on the menu don’t miss this. And if you are a TS Restaurants fan, they have Hula Pie! Excellent evening!

    Food, view, service were wonderful. Staff worked with us for food allergies with no problem. It's very pricey. We ate outside which was worth it for view but outdoor seating is subpar. Would definitely recommend.

    We enjoyed our dinner. The only two negative items were thefood came out a little warm instead of hot and we had to keep hearing the server say that service might be slowed as they had a large wedding and another large party they had to service. If they take on large events, in addition, to the other reservations then they should be able to handle that and not have to hear how service might be slow and ok.

    We were celebrating a 60th birthday. We made a reservation 10 days in advance. When we arrived it took several minutes for our table to be ready as though we were not expected. We were shoved in a corner with an umbrella in front of our view. The appetizers were great. His main course was good my market halibut was $60 and tasted horrible. I never finished eating barely touched it and was never offered or asked if something was wrong. I will never go back there.

    Our talented server was amazing. Next time when we visit Jakes we will definitely ask to be seated in Ariel’s section of the restaurant. She gave us excellent tips on food choices and advised us on some local hiking. Phenomenal service!

    Best place to eat in Tahoe city . Great view and delicious food. Bartenders both are awesome. Even we had made 2 table reservation and called and confirmed 2 times . One reservation was not there but the manager was great and gave us seats for outside . Only problem is their tables fit 4 to 5 people for outside but that does not keep us from going back.     Delicious dinner and great views. Five of us at dinner. We had pork chops, bison, halibut, and ahi special. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Of course we shared a hula pie for dessert.

    Loved the burrata and tomato salad, the wedge was also yummy. Great wine list, great views and a neat location. Come early to visit the shops right around the restaurant. The braised short rib is enough food for two! Very good!

    Service was poor. The food was ok. My lobster was cold, the mashed potatoes was an ice cream scoop in size and they were lumpy. Some of the lumps were under cooked. The zucchini was over cooked and had no flavor. We were not asked about refills on our drinks. Our waitress never told us about any specials and never checked on us. Overall poor experience

    We had such a lovely time for our Anniversary. The food was delicious and everything was just as I was hoping for. I had the halibut. Cooked perfect and flakey. The sauce was amazing too! My husband had the short ribs. Ooo so yummy too! We loved the Hula Pie for dessert. :)

    We went to celebrate my birthday! Although we wanted to sit outside we couldn’t due to possible thunderstorms. Instead they sat us at a table next to a wall with no view whatsoever. This was next to a huge wall that made you feel like you were in a closet. There were several empty tables around us that we asked about but apparently they were taken. After asking 3 times for a different table our waitress was able to get us to a different location which was much nicer! As usual, the food was very good and we had a waitress that was fantastic! I noticed throughout the evening that no one else was seated at that particular table. My advice is to get rid of that spot. No one wants to sit in a closet when they go out to dinner. Especially at a restaurant right next to the lake. We will definitely go back but would much rather sit outdoors.

    Great service and great food! We were celebrating my wife’s birthday. After we had to wait for a table beyond our reservation time, our glasses of wine were comped for our inconvenience.     Great views - if you get a window table We did after having to wait just a bit at the bar despite asking specifically for one in our reservation No problem, again just a small wait then given a small table with an incredible view. Unfortunately, the table was tucked away such that getting a waitress’ attention was trying. Indeed, after my wife’s dinner preparation was not as ordered, we tried and tried to get someone to attend to it to no avail. In the end the entree was deducted from our bill but my wife certainly didn’t enjoy what she’d hoped was going to be a great dinner. Again, fantastic views Ensure you sit by windows or outside if weather permits Good if expensive menu but you need to be very specific about preparation Actually not a bad deal given ambiance even before the deduction!
