We went to Jake's for a birthday dinner. I had the macadamia nut crusted halibut and was cooked perfectly, I asked for more of the sauce that complimented the fish. My wife ordered the palm salad and added mahi but the mahi was a little overcooked. We sat out on the balcony which is a little tired and needs sanding and staining. The service was very good, the music was at a nice level. Overall a nice evening.

Service was great! We have eaten here 2 times and very happy with everything!! We have had the pork chop, scallops, calamari, crab cakes (best crab cakes ever with lots of crab meat and very little filler!) Halibut dinner and the special last night was a 12 oz Boneless ribeye and I added grilled asparagus and sauted mushrooms for my sides, excellent!! Presentation is always beautiful! Well worth the prices!! Dessert was the Hula Pie..delicious!

Service is always fantastic but the food was just okay. I understand food costs are higher, due to challenges with transporting fresh food up to Tahoe, every dish we ate (or saw) did not leave me feeling like it was worth the price. Hopefully the restaurant turns it around as this was always a family favorite every time we visit Tahoe (since the 80s).

This is the second time we have been seated upstairs in the "kiddie zone." For these high prices, I don't expect to experience kids screaming and running around. Waitress was great! Food was fair, and slightly over priced.

Wonderful dinner spot. Halibut was a little over cooked this time but it’s always a favorite. Sat in a little nook overlooking the water so service was a little slow due to not seeing us but that gave us more time to enjoy the view. Overall would come back!

My first impression of Jake’s was that the restaurant is well-kept, and the appealing décor along with the view of the marina and lake made it inviting. The overall experience was very disappointing. Arrived 20 minutes early on Monday for a 5:00 PM reservation made three days earlier. Had drinks at the bar where the service was fine, however, conversation wasn’t friendly but rather rude. The dining area was empty when my wife and I were seated at a tiny 2-person table in a small, stuffy, restrictive corner, while much nicer table options were available. That still doesn’t make any sense as those tables, with a window view were filled within the next 10 minutes with parties of two with plenty of other tables still available. Expected more from the Macadamia Nut Halibut, that night’s special. It was quite bland. My wife had a Caesar salad with dry chicken and barely any dressing. Both meals were completely overpriced and disappointing. Atmosphere was one of pretentious snobs. Recommend reading thru the customer reviews before deciding to go!

Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. However, the food was poorly seasoned, overcooked (on both our steaks and sides), and the courses came at odd times (just a lobster tail came out 10ish minutes before the rest of the main course). The drinks were delicious and well made, but they did take a long time to come out as the bar was behind most of the night. We did have a truly delicious dessert at the end of the meal and it was definitely the highlight. Overall, we would say that it was ‘nice’ which is not what we were looking for during a celebratory meal.

Our water, drinks, and appetizer were all there within 30 minutes. Our server was awesome and we had a beautiful view of the lake at sunset. A perfect night. Sunnyside restaurant could learn a few things from Jake's.

Our server was great, but our salad and entree came out within 30 seconds of each other. The place is so big the food is run separately, so nothing the server could have done, but means we ate cold entrees. Food was ok; clearly paying for the view.

We will not go back to this restaurant. We arrived and got seated upstairs (the first warning sign). While the view was amazing, we then waited about 15 minutes to get our order taken. Our appetizers arrived 30 minutes later which was a salad that had a funky taste to it. Then an hour later our food arrived even though we asked for it multiple times. We kept getting told "you're the next ticket up". Meanwhile, we saw multiple plates going by for about 15 minutes. Finally the manager brought the food to the table. There were no apologies. He said "your food took awhile because we had 3 big parties and they all put their order in at the same time". Then they should have told us that when we sat down and not 1 1/2 hours later. The steak was inedible. we will never go back.

Jake’s used to have reasonable quality product at a slightly higher price point for the food. This year, the quality has decreased significantly yet the prices have increased. The environment was poor as well: long wait time with a reservation, chairs were dirty, deck was sticky. $65 for 3 overcooked scallops atop hours old gummy ‘risotto’ was disappointing at best.

Everything was fantastic as always, however there was a 3-top behind us with a girl that was overly loud and would not stop talking. She was making comments about strippers and other things that maybe not everyone wanted to hear. It’s not the restaurant’s fault but that kind of ruined the atmosphere of a nice quiet dinner.

We arrived right at 5:00 p.m. for dinner requested a window table. We were seated at a very small table for two. We asked for the table for four right next to it and we’re told that those tables for parties of three or four. About 15 minutes after we were seated a party of two was seated at that table. I immediately went to the hostess station to complain and was told that a party of four cancelled and they seated the next party of two who requested a window table. I told them that we were not happy and would have liked that table. For dinner we split the bison filet and paid the split charge. My wife’s half of the filet, but mine was chewy and grissly. If we are going to be charged $62 for a filet it should be a very good piece of meat. This was not. Also we both requested a side of cauliflower and got asparagus instead. We mentioned that to our wait person and she talked to chef who told her that he decided to make the change, but didn’t make it on the menu. On the plus side, our wait person was great and even talked the hostess desk about our table issue. When we left the both hostesses apologized to us.

Since this was a birthday celebration, I had requested a table with a view of the lake— wow, did they deliver! We had the perfect table with a wonderful server, who perfectly timed our meal and even brought us a complimentary birthday cake to finish off our celebration. All this combined with live music made Jake’s perfect.

This was a great place to have an anniversary dinner. Service was excellent and the view is great. Food was on the pricey side but worth the expense. Only complaint is that for where we sat, it was a bit on the noisy side for a restaurant. Overall great experience!

We've been coming to Jake's for years, but the last few visits haven't lived up to the price tag. The server can make or break the experience right from the first interaction, and in our case the server was clearly in need of training. She may have been overworked or had too many tables to take care of, but our family of four was clearly an annoyance for her. When I spend over $360 for dinner for four, I would like to think the quality of the service would be commensurate with the price tag.

The food was decent. We ordered the albacore special, chicken Marsala and the fish tacos. Good portion sizes for the entrees but the calamari for our appetizer was very small. Service was hit or misss but it looked like they might have been short servers that night.

A snowy early December Monday in Lake Tahoe is pretty slow for restaurants but Jake’s on the Lake didn’t disappoint. The host greeted us warmly and guided us to a window seat looking over the lake. Beautiful! Kyle, our server was top notch and knows his wine list well. He mentioned cioppino as the special of the night and it was really spectacular—one of the best I’ve had. The broth had a lot of flavor, all the seafood was fresh and delicious, and the addition of vegetables topped with cilantro blended together for one excellent meal. If it’s on the menu don’t miss this. And if you are a TS Restaurants fan, they have Hula Pie! Excellent evening!

Food, view, service were wonderful. Staff worked with us for food allergies with no problem. It's very pricey. We ate outside which was worth it for view but outdoor seating is subpar. Would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our dinner. The only two negative items were thefood came out a little warm instead of hot and we had to keep hearing the server say that service might be slowed as they had a large wedding and another large party they had to service. If they take on large events, in addition, to the other reservations then they should be able to handle that and not have to hear how service might be slow and ok.
