Food was fine, although liver not as good as it used to be. I certainly would go back.
We enjoyed our meal but my partner was very disappointed when he heard the specials being offered to someone else and we hadn't been told about them. He would have gotten the special in a heart beat if he had been told about them.
Birthday - provided a candle and message on the desert plate
Had a glass dropped on me. Not the end of the world, the waiter was very apologetic. With myself and the table cover in glass shards we where moved to a different table. Where I realized I was bleeding pretty bad from my hands wrists and had a shard in my eye. I went to the bathroom cleaned myself up but bleeding wouldn’t stop. I finally guilted the manager into getting me some bandages. To say sorry they gave just me my glass of wine on the house. I felt the severity of the situation required more of an apology then that. I’m not one to ask for a handout or get upset all I look for in a restaurant is to serve me how you’d like to be served and food that you would like to eat. If I where the manager in this situation the costumers would have been fully compensated and received vip service.
Fantastic food! As requested, we were seated at a quiet, comfortable table in the back corner near the wine cellar, to catch up with an old friend.
Coopers is in the heart of Manyunk, a great neighborhood in the city of Philadelphia.
They have very good brick oven pizza and
small plates. Wine list is very good too.
It's a cool dining space. I frequent this spot for all it has to offer. Will be back again soon!
Contemporary design with good food and accommodating pleasant service staff. The crab cakes are virtually all crab with very little filler. Prices are reasonable and one doesn't feel rushed. Food is not overly salted which is appreciated. My only disappointment was the homemade ice cream sampler with little flavor.
Great wine by the glass and interesting small plates. Even the " cheap red" @$22 a bottle was quite good! Beef cheeks were terrific! Salads were very good as well.
Great night out! Hugh was our sever, he was great! Food was marvelous. Duck liver mousse and Tuna tartare were fantastic. We decided to try the specials and were not disappointed. My wife had the whole Bronzino, which was perfect. I had the surf and turf, short rib with lobster tail over lobster pomme purée finished with a red wine sauce, also wonderful. We share a bottle of “cheap” red for $22, what a deal! We finished the night with a beautiful cheese plate. Jakes is always a special treat, thanks for the great dining experience. Can’t wait to go back!!
Jake’s has been a staple in Manayunk for a LONG time. Just their longevity should say something. The food was amazing, ambiance exceptional and service professional and exceptional. Don’t change a thing. We’ll be back!
We had a great time eating here. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating of us having to bring our infant daughter. They helped us stash our stroller and find a table she could be at and that we could sit at comfortably.
Wonderful experience! Food was delicious (had the escargot, lamb shank and duck l’orange) and service was impeccable. You get five star experience at very reasonable prices!
We went to Jake and Cooper's a few weeks ago and liked it so much that we made a Valentine's Day reservation. I think the food is good, the prices are fair, and they have good drinks. Perfect for a date.
Been here twice. Once for a ten year anniversary and recently for Valentine's day. The first time was so special and everyone , especially our waiter was very very nice and went above and beyond to make our night great. I wish I remembered his name. But he brought us out complementary champagne to celebrate and we felt so special. The second visit was just as nice. Staff is so attentive, and upbeat. Everyone greets you at the door, and the food comes out at just the right times. It's so cozy and so romantic, my husband and I will definitely be coming back again for more date nights.
We eat at Jake's often because the food is always consistent and good. This time it was better than ever! The waiter was super nice also. We'll be back soon
Pleasant service. A delicious menu and comfortable atmosphere.
We had a number of allergy restrictions and our waiter went above and beyond to try to find the items in the menu that would work best for us. He went back to talk to the chef multiple times and brought various items and condiments to add to our meals.
The food was delish but over priced. The service was ok and it was very loud. The dessert and coffee were sub par. Their pizza meatballs and crab cakes are the best things on the menu.
This has always been our favorite restaurant in Manayunk!
The food is always good here, I have never had a bad dish. The Brussel sprouts and arugula salad was delish. The cheese plate and olives were a great appetizer. The server was very attentive and helpful with my cheese plate choice. Can't wait to visit again!
Excellent crab cakes, onion pizza and desserts.
Very attentive service
This was a very nice small bar/restaurant that has a wall to separate the dining area from the bar. There are booth on the bar side. Small menu but amazing food. I could go back again and again. and order everything on the menu
started with a 7:30 reservation - did not get seated till 9:00 pm . ordered a margarita pizza - was nothing more than a cracker like shell with sauce that tasted like it came out of a bottle from the supermarket. the rest of the meal was average at best. the only thing that stood out was the service . the people were very nice. i doubt i would ever go back.
Our server Ebonee was awesome! Great food
Food was great. We had the crab cakes. Our server couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating. I hadn't seen my friend in awhile and she gave us time to talk and catch up, spacing our courses nicely. Very nice experience.
We always enjoy eating at Jakes.
The food is fresh and deliciously prepared.
They are also well able to accommodate gluten free eating.
(though no GF pizza)
The wine bar has a great selection.
And the atmosphere is warm and quiet enough to have a real conversation.
We ate here for my husbands birthday. We shared the short rib pizza as an appetizer - very good highly recommend! For entrees I had the crab cakes over spaghetti squash. The crab cakes were great but the spaghetti squash was overly mushy. He had the lamb shank. The side of Brussels sprouts were delicious. Happy hour menu daily.
Good food and good service. I’ve been here for lunch and drinks after work. Both are good but the bar scene is for a younger crowd.
My friend and I had a late dinner on new year's eve 2017. We had made reservations via Open Table, arrived on time, and were seated immediately in the dining room. Decorations were appropriate for new year (tasteful balloons & streamers); jazz music which was not overwhelming; overall festive but sophisticated ambiance. All tables were full - a busy night. She and I shared a bottle of wine from the wine list (a fairly good selection of fine wines) and also 3 small plates and a side. Crab cake was outstanding...mussels pretty good (served not quite warm enough & a couple were gritty, but overall were just fine). Service was absolutely excellent. Nice to celebrate new years in a casual but sophisticated atmosphere, quiet enough so that you could talk without wondering if you'd been heard over the music. Would recommend.
So pleased to see Jake's and Cooper's Wine Bar back in business after last year's hiatus to renovate post-Manayunk Main Street flood. Jake's and Cooper's is our preferred Manayunk dining spot - good food, good wines by the class, good ambiance. It's a restaurant for grown-ups vs. the young-folks-bar scene in most of this neighborhood.
Going to Manayunk is always a bit of an excursion for me. Jake's and Cooper's made it worth the trip. The goat cheese pizza and crab cakes were delish...freshly sourced and incredibly tasty. Kale salad too- crispy sweet and filling. We celebrated our birthdays with wine and coffee and dessert. It got crowded while we were eating but no one rushed us. I'm going back again soon.
The food and the attentiveness of the staff were great!
reliably excellent food and wine , very pleasant service staff, cozy ambiance - in the competitive
environment of Main Street dining, Jake's has always delivered!
We enjoyed the fact that although it is not aBYOB we we’re still permitted to bring our own wine for $15 per bottle corkage fee. Great food and reasonable prices!
Reviews on line and lived up to my expectations. Nice, but simple menu. Service and staff impeccable. Would recommend.
Our server was excellent, very attentive, gave great recommendations!
Great atmosphere, food and service. Prices are higher than the $ Open Table lists it as.
Overall very good, but service and food prep was very slow.
Brought a friend for dinner for her birthday. Had a wonderful meal and great time, as always. I love the understated sophistication of J&C's. Large, comfy booths, excellent service and always delicious food. My go-to place for a great meal and nice ambience!
