About Jake and Telly's Greek Taverna
In 1997, brothers Telly and Jake Topakas moved to Colorado from Philadelphia and opened Jake and Telly’s Greek Taverna, then simply known as Jake and Telly's Bar and Grill. Though at the time the brothers were relatively young, they were third generation restaurateurs and had gathered much second hand experience and knowledge from their father, uncle, and grandfather about the restaurant business.
They soon noticed that many of their customers were enjoying the Greek specials they were offering over the standard American-style menu items and thus began the transition from a bar and grill to the only full-service Greek restaurant in Colorado Springs.
A few years into the business, Telly and Jake became interested in carrying a better variety of Greek wines and began educating themselves about wine and food pairings in general.

Jake and Telly's Greek Taverna Ratings and Reviews
Got the wedge salad and Fisherman's Stew. OMG was it good. Potatoes and carrots in a tomato base, with loads of fish, shrimp, mussels & scallops. Portion was enough for another meal the next day. Received a complementary taste of Uzo, which was interesting.
We were in Colorado Springs for just a couple of days. This restaurant was recommended on several sites so we decided to try it. The restaurant clearly met our expectations. We had a Mediterranean chicken with tomato and capers that was fantastic. The humus was delicious as was the Greek salad. We had coffee crepe brûlée for dessert and it was excellent. We will definitely return.
Great food and specials. Complimentary warm pita bread was excellent. I had a rib eye steak special that was amazing and my date had the chicken kabobs which were excellent. The service was very attentive. The blueberry bread pudding for dessert was also excellent and complimentary for my dates bday. Ended dinner with complimentary Ouzo shots. Very fun evening.
I love Greek food!! I was visiting Colorado Springs for business and looked to Open Table for a good local restaurant and found Jake and Telly's. Ends up, these guys are from Philly and so am I! GO EAGLES!!! I had some lamb kabobs and they were very tasty. The service was excellent. The food was great. And the outside tables were very nice. I recommend you try this place. You won't regret it!!!
Food was good. Service was awful. We waited 30 min for the server at the beginning who spilled someones mostly dranken martini on my son without assisting him in cleaning up. We then had to wait another 30 min after we paid to get the dessert we ordered to go. In addition, the house red wine- which has been good in the past- tasted like my husband's home brew. Usually this restaurant is a good exoerience.
Jake and Telly's was wonderful from the moment we entered. We had made a reservation and they seated us immediately upon arrival. The place does get real busy. Our server was friendly and accommodating. We never felt rushed. They checked in on us in an unobtrusive manner - not too often or overbearing. All of the staff were polite and friendly.
The food was excellent. Everything tasted fresh. They also have a full bar.
What a great find. We highly recommend Jake and Telly's.
Always a reliable restaurant for lunch or dinner. My wife and I were there for our 19th wedding anniversary and had a nice veranda table out front. The food, drink, and service are always good. This evening, my wife had a great spinach and eggplant dish over noodles and I had my usual roast lamb leg with vegetables and orzo. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasty. My wife enjoyed her German reisling wine and I tried a new (to me) Greek red (xinomavro). We both enjoyed them tremendously.
The staff is always great, this night being no exception. Friendly, courteous and helpful with any questions or concerns.
And, of course, the complementary shot of ouzo (Opa!)...
Sure, some times and dishes are better than others, but of late, every time we have gone, we have been had excellent food and service.
