With her creation of the first Jaiya in Elmhurst, Queens, she single handedly changed the Asian Culinary landscape of New York. The dedication and passion she put into Jaiya and its menu, truly expresses the love she has for the art of Thai cuisine. The heavenly herbs and spices transports you directly into the heart of Thailand. Her dedication has not gone unnoticed garnering recognition from the New York Times as well as from Michelin. Jaiya - UES Ratings and Reviews
It was the four of us ladies who went there for our friend's birthday. It was okay, I wasn't so impressed with food and staff. No one was mean or rude to us it just wasn't as welcoming and inviting as we expected. Me especially, I eat slow and we wanted to chat and catch up and we felt like we were being pushed out. Also when we tried to take pictures near the buddha statue the staff just kind of worked around us instead of giving us a few seconds to snap a photo. The food was just okay, I've read great reviews but we all agreed that we had better Thai food.
Hostess was rude/indifferent. Told me she couldn’t find our reservation. Then offered to seat us next to the supply closet. As we were waiting someone went in to retrieve a mop. Disgusted, we asked to move to one of the open tables or we would leave. Hostess said “ok” took the menus and walked away!!
I treated my daughter for her 14th birthday, since Thai food is her favorite. She had a great time and enjoyed every bite of her meal.
It was a fun and cozy. We were able to talk and hear one another. The tables were nice and the seating was spacious. I will return again and again.
We were at Jaiya and ordered pad Thai, found a hair in the food to which the manager said she will not bill us for that but when we received the bill some other food items we ordered had their prices increased on the bill. Luckily we noticed it. Also we had our 6 month old baby with us( we called before to check if they accommodated babies which they said yes) and they didn't give us a high chair and also gave us a place to sit which couldn't fit the infant car seat, on requesting another seat they asked us to wait 30 -45mins. That Was very unprofessional and upsetting.
But Apart from that the food tasted good and the ambience was good too.
The food was amazing as usual, but the service was pretty bad. I ordered a Diet Coke with no ice- 10 mins later it came with ice, so I asked for another one with no ice. Our food arrived, no sign of the Coke. I asked again for a Diet Coke with no ice, and it finally arrived (with ice again!). I finally ended up cancelling my order altogether, since we were already half way through our meal at that point.
It was my first time. Our son ate their previously and recommended Jaiya. We went to celebrate Father's Day for my husband and son. The food was excellent. Will definitely go again and bring friends. Our server Sal, was wonderful, he knew all about the menu.
