Thai
Jaiya New York's menu is inspired by the cuisine of Wanne Pokpoonpipat, who arrived in New York City in the 1970's with dreams of introducing Thai cuisine to west. With her creation of the first Jaiya in Elmhurst, Queens, she single handedly changed the Asian Culinary landscape of New York. The dedication and passion she put into Jaiya and its menu, truly expresses the love she has for the art of Thai cuisine. The heavenly herbs and spices transports you directly into the heart of Thailand. Her dedication has not gone unnoticed garnering recognition from the New York Times as well as from Michelin. She oversees the menu at Jaiya Thai-Oriental in Gramercy to this day.

The servers/waiters were very peppy and in a happy mood. They did a good job explaining all the vegetarian options and how they were made. Also did a great job in recommendations and spice levels

Outstanding food. Great dining experience. Beer and alcohol prices are high adding to price of dinner.

Used a different noodle than listed in the menu description and did not make it as spicy as I’d asked for. Bland

My husband and I have been going to Jaiya for years and were excited that there is a location in UES when we moved into the neighborhood. However, each time we went, it wasn’t as good as before until when we went on Monday night this week and it was legitimately bad. The Tom Yum Soup was lukewarm, Larb was extremely salty, our favorite Triple Three Flavor Whole Snapper was overcooked, their most popular Wok basil had barely anything besides sauce and shrimp and even the Drunken Noodles was slightly sour. The food took a long time to come out even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. The meal was overpriced for the quality and they automatically included a 20% tip in the bill even though we only had 5 people and the service was just so-so. We were very disappointed and will likely not go back again.

I have seen many TV ads on local channels, so it peeked my interest.
The food is overpriced for mediocre Thai food. The sauces are very glutinous without distinct spices.
Food was fresh but not favorful, especially for Thai food.

It's very pretty. The staff was friendly and attentive. The cocktails were delicious. One of our four appetizers was excellent, the coconut shrimp. The others went downhill from there. The calamari was only fair. We ordered steak slices, medium rare: they came well done and tasted sour, not quite right. We sent them back. I'd never go again.

Restaurant was understaffed. Relatively empty with no line at the door, but service was as slow as molasses. 45 mins after ordering and the appetizers were no where to be seen. This used to be one of our gotos, but the quality has steadily declined.

The Thai food at this restaurant is probably the most authentic in NYC with a beautiful interior, but it is extremely over priced. To charge $20 for Pork Thai Fried Rice is ridiculous.

I would try many other Thai restaurants that have food as good but without the decor.
This will provide great food at more reasonable prices.

Lovely setting and super fresh and tasty traditional Thai food as well as many house specialty dishes served in unique pots, warmers, dishes that add to the delight of the food contained. So Tom Yum soup served in something that looked like a Mongolian hot pot, my red curry yummy chicken dish served over a warmer- so I could have the sauce as a soup with my sticky rice- divine!

Over priced and small amounts
The drinks were ok
Food was tasty over priced and no sides fish came with sauce nothing else
My brother had a dish that looked like soup of a bowl of graveyard over all I and my guess were unsatisfied with our experience we should have gone to a Carmine’s or an Italian or even Chinese
I spent over $200 for 3 persons and one only had Appetizer this was not worth the money or the time

Food was excellent as always. But even though it wasn’t busy when we arrived, service was slower than usual.
Seems like their prices go up every time we’re there. Will no longer be a restaurant for us for everyday dining, only special occasions. $120 for a two person vegetarian meal and Thai iced tea as the only drink we ordered. That’s steep.

I felt it was overpriced for the food that was served. The noodles and rice dish weca we're not very flavorful. It did not seem inventive either. The waiter did not seem to be very confident when describing the food or taking our orders and it took a very long time for the food to come out. The cocktails were strong though.

The restaurant could provide an excellent meal for our family of six, a mixture of carnivores, vegetarians and vegans, Catholics, Jews and Budhists. The food was as spicy or bland as each of us required, fresh and flavorful. The service was terrific. Yeah, it was a little pricey, which will limit the number of visits we can make. You can't have everything.

Great food and wonderful service. The staff made the evening and some of the food. The Pad Thai was ok and I don't recommend it if you have had great Pad Thai before. The Green Papaya salad , Coconut Shrimp and Basil Chicken were out of this world. The Crab fried rice ( $25.00 ) was good but for the price it should have been excellent.
They ran out of two wines that we selected and we had to go with what was left in the Cabernet Sauvignon wine.
Very Dark Space, more clubby than restaurant, it is exp team;y dark and Im sure some people like it as it is, I did not, Beautiful Restaurant but very dark.

This used to be a staple of mine for thai food in my neighborhood, but the quantity of food and services gone down the drain. It's also an extremely expensive option for the quality of the service and food. The taste of food is still pretty good which is the only thing that may bring me back here - but there are several other much better (and less expensive) options in the upper east side – especially Vietnam (on the corner of 88th and 2nd) which is significantly better food for about half the price.

The place was empty (because it was election night?), so we had very attentive service. Our waiter, Sal, was a Brooklyn native and despite not being Thai, knew the menu backwards and forwards and was able to make great recommendations, especially for one in our group who avoids wheat. The food was very good to excellent. Jaiya used to be in Elmhurst and it was great to find it in Manhattan. The website shows a limited menu, but in reality it is pages long so there are many choices and the chef is willing to tweak the dish if, for example, you don't want it super spicy.

The staff was slow and inexperienced. We had to ask for water and menus after a 20 minute wait. 20 minutes later we had to ask , actually flag down a waiter, to order. 30 minutes after that we asked where the wine was. The waiter was dismissive. The half the order arrived, minus one app and entree. The food is good but the service is awful. After we paid the bill I finally approached the manager the waiter never sent over and she offered us 10% off, dessert or a drink. Too little too late.
