This was our first time at Jaiya after seeing many good reviews about it. A friend from Vienna, Austria, was visiting and wanted Thai food. She lived in Thailand for over 5 years (on and off) and LOVES the food. We all loved the food, service and wine at Jaiya and will surely be back. We only live a few blocks away! Thank you.
We were a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their dinner. I liked the atmosphere a lot and at the time it was not crowded which was nice. Thought the service could of been better. Over all I would highly recommend Jaiya-UES.
The service was completely abysmal. It was impossible to get anyone’s attention. There was no silverware on the table when we sat down. Our food came and by the time we flagged someone down to get silverware, the food was cold. There was a hair in my food and when I pointed this out to the waitress she told me she would bring me a new one but it would take a while. By the time I had my food, everyone else at the table had been done eating for 10 minutes.
The food was great. I plan on coming back. We had a great time. I'm telling my friends and the family.
Favorite Thai restaurant! It’s a beautiful place and we always enjoy coming here. Service is excellent and so is the food.
appetizers and soups are amazing. main course absolutely sucked. and we were a party of 11 and practically ordered everything off the menu - and not a single one of us were satisfied with the main. i ordered the most basic masaman curry and it was miserable ... and for the price... forget it.
the service was terrible.... because they already included it on the chi they didn't care at all i suppose.
the soups and appetizers were good - everything else sucked.
Sal was very helpful when it came time to ordering our food. He explained what was on the menu and was polite.
Food was good service was ok. I would go back again
Went for Valentine's Day and the table was not cleaned off when we sat , watress did not introduce herselfit was like ok are you ready to order like a fast food place .,.. had to ask for water drinks took forever and even when asked to clean the table off because it was dirty it never got cleaned off and food got delivered on top of a dirty table ..... food was ok but watress was awful
Authentic Thai food , understaffed expect to wait well beyond your reservation time , if you don’t mind waiting and can put up with average at best service the food is worth it
While waiting for food to come out we had our drinks and appetizers. I ask can we get some utensils. She came back and told me that they are washing the utensils right now so I told her so how are we going to eat the appetizers. so then she bought 4 big spoons and said that’s all we have right now. When our entrées came out I asked again can we have some folks to eat with. She bought one for for the table mind you there’s four people at the table. Then she brought one more. To cut the story short there’s four people at my table and there was only two forks bought out. No knives nothing just two forks for four people. The other two people had to use big spoons to eat there food. I have never in my life had to deal with a situation like this before. Mind you it was Valentine’s Day. I will never go back there.
The food was awesome so that wasn’t the problem. I took my mom out for Valentine’s Day. It was packed. We finally got seated. We weren’t given any napkins, utensils, or menus. We waited about 10 mins than finally had to ask for menus and was given only one to share. Than it took another couple of minutes waiting for someone to get our order but at that point we just had to ask for someone to take our order. After someone took our order we were served water that had particles floating in it. We told the waitress and she gave us another glass of water. Not once did we get an apology from this waitress. This made our experience awful because of this service. It was really disappointing to have to deal with that. On the other hand the food was great but I’m not sure if I would go again. Maybe we’ll try the other Jaiya restaurant! Smh...
I showed up on time for my reservation for two and had to wait 25 minutes for a table. Many other parties were also waiting for their tasks and had reservations also. The was no communication to any patrons about the delay we were all just told to wait. Once I was seated at a table it took another 20 minutes for the server to notice us and to just to get a glass of water. We ordered cocktails that took at least 20 minutes to be made. The food came out in a reasonable time after ordering and was delicious and the presentation was great. Good food but bad service unfortunately. I can't say I recommend.
Waited 20 mins for drinks. 45 minutes before the waitress, at my girlfriend's questioning, admitted our order had been "lost". Walked out. Absolutely terrible front of house orginazation. As a former waiter I found the service appalling. Wonderful way to ruin Valentine's day. I should've stuck to the 1 star reviews. That said, Wa Jeal across the street was excellent and we recommend it highly!
Excellent food but unfortunately HORRIBLE service!
We had a lovely time on Valentine's Day at Jaiya. The food was delicious and our waitress was attentive. Since we have eaten at Jaiya before we thought it best to come early as the noise level in the restaurant increases dramatically as the night goes on. We arrived 6:00 and ate our meal in about an hour. When we left the restaurant the noise level was high and there were lots of people standing by the door waiting to be seated. We felt lucky and smart to have made the reservation when we did. The duck curry and baked shrimp were delicious. And you must try the flaming ice cream. It's awesome! Overall we had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!
My first time here and I will be back. Food delicious and staff very friendly and great service.
The food was not great. Service was good. I have had better Thai food for way less money.
This was one of the greatest eating experiences I have had in years, the ambience was terrific the service was wonderful and the food was outstanding. I can't wait to go back again.
Excellent food, really no complaints. Wanted to order a bottle of wine but they were out...asked for two other bottles but they were out of those as well. Weird service too, I think we had at least 5 people take care of us...
Between taking our order, serving, drinks, the bill, I'm not even sure who I left the tip too. Overall though, great food and good atmosphere...would definitely go again.
A true gem in the upper east side. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect. Highly recommended.
First time. Christmas night. Very nice. Tasty food. Fair Price
Very pleasant food excellent music a bit loud at times. Sometimes hard to get waiters attention.
Not my first time here and I am sure going back. There is always some new taste waiting for you and the stuff is super nice.
Food and service where great. 2 drinks appetizer main and dessert brought the final bill came to 325 for 4 people without tip. A bit obscene for what I received.
Friendly and amiable service. Unfortunately, the food was terrible, salty and tasteless. I had a stomach upset after having the Larb.
Consistently good size portions, well prepared and very diverse menu.Have been there numerous times and never disappointed.
Food & drinks were good- pineapple fried rice & Pad Thai. BUT they were out of items on their daily special like Fish & then they were out of plum sauce for another substitute dish. What? And then they had to cancel a steamed fish because their steamer was not working- What What? Then they had one of us stand while fixing something behind our table and wanted wanted her to be seated at the side of the table mid meal. When we asked for one drink for that guest for the inconvenience, the manager lectured us that they could not do that and furthermore when they want to offer something, they will come up with the idea themselves. Right.. great customer service. The customer is never right philosophy! Good luck with that.
Very Creative yet delicious menu !
Service was bad.. took ages to get drinks.. I forgotten. Added 20% gratuity automatically.
Started out good but service was extremely slow to the point of over an hour wait for entrees. Everyone around us was served.
They didn’t take a penny off the very, very expensive bill.
A big disappointment. On a scale of 1-10, a 2. Menu was hard to understand, wait person not able to explain dishes or the pricing. very confusing. No one was there, restaurant was dark. We each had a glass of wine--bad pour. I asked her to fill up the glass, which she wouldn't do.
Won't go back.
the atmosphere was exceptional, the food was just okay
It was the four of us ladies who went there for our friend's birthday. It was okay, I wasn't so impressed with food and staff. No one was mean or rude to us it just wasn't as welcoming and inviting as we expected. Me especially, I eat slow and we wanted to chat and catch up and we felt like we were being pushed out. Also when we tried to take pictures near the buddha statue the staff just kind of worked around us instead of giving us a few seconds to snap a photo. The food was just okay, I've read great reviews but we all agreed that we had better Thai food.
Great date spot, awesome service, great food. Overall great time.
The food was terrific and the service was excellent
It's my Go-To Thai place we always come back here! Favorite place and make sure your served by SAL he's alwys so pleasant and certainly is very informative about what's good on the menu!
We have been eating at Jaiya for the past 7 years and they always deliver i consistently good Thai food (only complaint is the lack of consistency in spice level of medium spice - sometimes it’s too hot)
It was not as luxurious as advertised there seating area is very small there waiting area there is none this was not at all different to any other food I have I didn’t get that thai Asian feeling from there food the service was good and on point
