Jag's Steak & Seafood Ratings and Reviews
The ambiance was upscale and cozy, though your attire doesn't need to be overly dressy, which was great. The food was EXCELLENT, we had a filet mignon and the salmon and still rave about it. Our server was excellent and was able to craft a sangria on the sweeter side per my request, which was delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone!
This was our first time to Jag's after always hearing how great it was. We came to try it during Restaurant Week, and it did not disappoint. The Restaurant Week menu seemed to be very representative of the regular menu, with a few surprises, and at a good value. The cheese plate and chicken tender appetizers were a great start. The burrata mozzarella salad was a unique presentation which separated out the components, so that one could create their own perfect bite. We upgraded the 5 oz. Filet to a 12 oz. New York Strip steak and it was fabulous! Perfectly cooked and curiously topped by crispy mushrooms, providing just enough interest to the familiar. My husband added a Chocolate Mousse cake that was perfect as well. My husband remarked at the end of the evening that we had found our new "name of another upscale steakhouse restaurant" for special occasions. We enjoyed wine by the glass with dinner, and the prices seemed to be pretty inflated. One other minor gripe, the need to pay $4 for Valet parking. My husband is in a wheelchair and when we arrived at 6 pm both handicapped parking spaces were occupied. The close parking spaces were all blocked for the valet, so we were forced to use the Valet. When paying those prices for dinner, it should not seem necessary to charge for the valet, especially when they should probably have additional handicapped spots, or at least not block the closest spots for the valet. Other establishments like Capital Grille, Carlo and Johnny's etc. do not charge for valet. Other than that a perfect evening.
This was the first time my wife and I visited Jags. We've wanted to come for years and finally got around to doing it. We loved the dining experience except for three (significant) issues that I will mention later. The live music was fantastic. The ambience was excellent. The service was attentive without being pushy or rushed. The cocktails were wonderful, and the early courses of the meal were amazing. That said, here were the issues that overshadowed an otherwise perfect meal: 1) we were seated next to a door to a patio where people went outside to smoke. It was warm outside so every time the door opened, a wave of heat and disgusting cigarette smoke enveloped our table, 2) hair found in my wife's asparagus soup (thankfully, discovered before eating). The server was very apologetic, but no comp was offered, and 3) my filet mignon was completely overcooked. I was surprised that these details were missed in such an expensive restaurant. However, I'm willing to give Jags another chance... someday.
Cindy D. is an excellent fine dining professional. It was our 13th anniversary and I noted a few special items in the reservation which she carried out. Dinner was wonderful and she helped us have a wonderful time. The manager also stopped by to ask how we were doing and congratulated us on our anniversary. We will definitely be back.
We decided to try something different instead of going to the same old restaurants that we always visit. This time it was to celebrate our 25th. wedding anniversary. Since we had never gone to a buffet at a steak house before ( nor have we ever heard of such a thing ) we thought that this would be an ideal time to try one out. We were not disappointed. Everything was great. From the food to the service and from the live music to the atmosphere. The buffet was very nice. Each Friday evening it has a different theme and, therefore, different food. Though the buffet doesn’t offer the variety you would find at a regular buffet it still did not disappoint. The service was top notch as we never found ourselves wanting for anything during the entire meal especially refills. Our servers were very nice and courteous. Since this was our first time for being here they really took the time to explain how the process works and answered any questions that we had. The live music was a nice touch with the piano bar. And the music was not so loud that you couldn’t carry on a conversation with the person across from you.
Overall the dining experience was much nicer than we originally thought it would be. A very nice change of pace for the occasion. We will be back again.
Came for a birthday meal. Service was very good. I would highly recommend the sea bass and raw oysters. Steak was also good and close to some of the best my husband has eaten. Parking was limited so I would suggest that you take advantage of the valet service they offer.
We made the trip from north Dayton and are so glad we did! The food was amazing, Jennifer was great and the atmosphere was perfect for our anniversary. We shared the lobster bisque, I'm already craving more. My husband had a filet and lobster tail, his filet was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. My ribeye was fantastic and had awesome seasoning. We will gladly be back and can't wait to bring friends to enjoy as much as we did.
We celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary this Saturday at Jag's and we were so pleased we picked this restaurant to celebrate our special day.
Our server was outstanding-she was very polite, attentive and authentic.
We had multiple people stop and wish us for our anniversary in a sincere manner.
The food was absolutely delicious...we had the Special of the day which we really enjoyed...the filet with scallops, mashed potatoes and asparagus.
The highlight was we had our 'First Dance' song played by the person at the piano and he did a great job. We also enjoyed the ambience in the restaurant.
Overall we had a memorable evening :)
We always enjoy going to Jag's and this visit was fabulous! Although it seemed it would be busy with a group in the adjoining room, it was no problem for these guys. The service was perfect and the food was remarkable. We loved the special dessert too, the pumpkin bread pudding. Wow :D
Our waitress was a mess. She would not listen to what we were asking and would just leave the table before we were even done saying something. She spilt water all over the table next to us, brought us two cocktails that were wrong, and by the time she brought my cocktail she spilt half of it. We ordered shrimp cocktail that she dunked completely into the cocktail sauce so we had to dig it out. Thank goodness our entrees were delicious otherwise it was not a very good experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
