Jag's Steak & Seafood Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience for our anniversary "date".
Everything was great the food, the setting, and the staff went beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We commend everyone!!
We recommend Jag's for any of your dining/entertainment needs.
Thank you so much for a memorable experience!
We waited almost 20 minutes for someone to stop by our table after the bread and water was dropped off. We flagged down a waitress who had walked past us at least 5-6 times without saying a word, and asked if she could get our server that we hadn't seen yet. I'm not sure if it was always supposed to be her or if she covered for someone who wasn't doing their job... but she ended up being our server.
Everything was just SO SLOW. We ordered a drink, and pretty much ordered the rest of our food at the time the drink was dropped off. Our reservation for two people was 7:30 and by the time we finished our meal and paid, it was after 10.
The food was just average. Everything was really salty. I'm talking CRAZY amounts of salt. On everything. The bread crust was covered in huge salt chunks.
They brought out a nice dessert menu to choose from for our anniversary, which was nice. The rest was just average at best.
First time at Jag’s and we were very impressed! Our server, Monica Dawson, was friendly and attentive to our needs without being overly bothersome. We ordered the dinner for two, expecting the portion sizes to be somewhat smaller than normal but we had more food than we could eat. Congratulations on the newly remodeled setting! We will be back!!
Fantastic restaurant! The atmosphere was welcoming, not stuffy. We did not go to the bar but it looked like a friendly place. The steaks are always great as well as the shrimp. This was a birthday celebration. They have a special birthday plate for the occasion. Our server was Randy. He was right on time, did not interfere with conversation. It was a very special and delightful evening. Thanks to the whole crew.
The service was slow but it was not the servers fault. She had to do her own table clean ups and re-setting it afterwards. It would certainly help if the servers only had to worry about taking care of their customers.
Also, the cheese on the french onion soup was burnt around the edges. It probably was quickly prepared since the original order of soup was for one that they were out of even though it was on the menu and it was only 5:30PM. Not sure how they could run out of it when they had just opened at 5:00PM.
This was my first time to Jag's. We met some friends from Springboro. They wanted to visit a good steak and seafood restaurant without having to "drive to the river." We all enjoyed the atmosphere; we were even a little shocked to see a band playing the bar when we left because we couldn't hear them at all from our table.
There was bread on the table when we arrived, but after the four of us consumed it, there was no offer from the staff for more. The server asked us if we wanted a drink other than water, and I said I would get back to her with a wine selection. There was no suggestion or question of what type of wine we were in the mood for, or even a suggested pairing for the food we ordered. I ordered the Big Oscar with a medium-rare filet. When the plate arrived, the food three items on the plate were shuffled toward one end of the plate rather than proportioned around. Not a big deal, but for a $65 plate I expect more attention to detail. The seafood atop the steak was well-prepared and tasted great, but the steak was more medium than medium-rare and the first few bites of steak were rather dry. The server came to the table to ask how the food tasted before I tasted the steak, and didn't ask again the rest of the time we were there. Our water was refilled regularly, but we were never asked if we liked our wine or if we wanted a another glass. The server returned once we completed our meal to ask about dessert. I skipped dessert and ordered coffee. The taste of my wife's creme brulee was good though.
Good restaurants north of Cincinnati are hard to find. I may return for a special occasion but this first visit didn't make me want to come back right away.
