This is probably my sixth visit to Jado and it gets better every time. That night happened to be my birthday and the staff including thechef made me feel so important- it was the perfect ending to a stressfu day.
Thanks so miuch Jado Sushi
We visited Jado Sushi twice within a three week period. We found the food to be very good. We ordered both sushi and cooked selections and generally enjoyed everything. The drinks from their cocktail menu were quite good as well. The service is not nearly as good as the food and drinks. On our first visit, the server billed us for items that we had not ordered. We pointed out the problem and the incorrect charges were removed. On our second visit, we did not receive everything we had ordered. Also, the wait staff began clearing dishes before everyone had finished. They actually reached across me as I was putting food into my mouth to take a dish. I asked the individual to wait until we were all finished - something they should have known. As we were leaving the young ladies at the door were too busy staring into a computer screen to thank us for coming. In sum, Jado Sushi has good food; just be prepared for amateurish service.
Great food. We felt very rushed. I wish open table didn't give the option to make a 10pm reservation since when we arrived we were told to hurry and order because they are closing.
I've been to Jado several times and have had a great dining experience each time. The sushi is impeccably fresh an delicious. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable and our server was friendly and offered great suggestions for drinks and dinner. I will be back.
Sushi was excellent. Would have preferred to see a Sake list where most of the selections are not from a nuclear accident site...
I love love this place! The food is excellent! I love all the non sushi options so much, I sometimes don't even get to ordering sushi... Some favorites are the Miso Glazed Sea Bass, Short Ribs, Lobster Tacos,
This started out as our neighborhood sushi place but has quickly graduated to one of the best for the price in the city - it used to be a bot overpriced but now is fairly prices for the level of fish and creativity - this is due mostly to the new chef (formerly of Sushi Yasaka) who has transformed the menu into something both experienced and adventurous sushi and omakase lovers as well as those who like to stick to the basics can both enjoy. It is such a treat to have this type of sushi uptown!
Jado Sushi was Excellent as always! I have yet to have a bad experience there. My niece is a Sushi maniac and she calls Jado her favorite new spot. The Glazed Short Ribs are incredible fall off the bone amazing and the Tempura Ice Cream is a work of art with a great surprise of Tempura Fruit to complement it.
I was pleases with the food and the ambiance.
I was there on a "first date" and I highly recommend
it for that.
The sushi was very tasty and the portion size was good.
The service was top-notch. Very attentive wait staff.
I would highly recommend.
For truly an amazing dining experience, head up to this harlem gem
The real deal. Third generation sushi chef from Tokyo. Very special atmosphere. Inventive, fresh delicious omakase.
A blessing to have such great sushi and wonderful service here in Harlem!
This remains one of the best Sushi restaurants in the city.
One of the best sushi restaurants on Manhattan. The seafood is of the freshest and the nigiri sushi servings are large. Wonderful fresh crab, lobster and Uni - large selection of fish. A terrific range of premium cold sakes. Attentive and friendly service. Amazing western desserts like chocolate souffle.
I will say the restaurant is very nice as far as ambiance, nice and quiet. Nice for a date.
Jado Sushi is one our favorite places on Harlem's new Restaurant Row - always delicious, and a varied menu that includes way more than fish.
My boyfriend and I came here for the first time on a Friday night. When we arrived around 7:45pm, the place was relatively empty and service was decent. 30 minutes later the restaurant began to fill up, and suddenly - we saw our servers about every 45 minutes. It was terrible. The food came out insanely slow. My bf ordered dessert and we had to wait almost an hour for it to arrive. Would not come again.
Loved the specialty rolls, and you must have the lettuce wrap. The house tea is on the house and is just right. I'll be coming back to try dessert!
Hiding in Harlem Jado has some of the freshest sushi in NYC. Then they layer in other modern dishes and exquisite desserts and its a real "10". I have eaten here about 20 times, and they have all been very good experiences.
I can't praise enough the quality of this Sushi. I have eaten at a number of Sushi establishments and Jado tops the best of them both in terms of quality, flavor and freshness and in terms of presentation. It's a restaurant I visit every week.
While I'm not a sushi connoisseur, Jado's sushi is fresh, tasty and delivered with beautiful presentation.
In reality, sushi was VERY good (we order the sushi platter for 2) but we had a couple of setbacks...
-Space was a little tight having people/servers hitting me every time they walked behind my chair.
-Being 8PM they already had run out of gyozas.
-Service was just OK.
We will probably go back for a second opportunity.
Beautiful presentation! The edamame came lightly salted with a lime that we didn't use. I ordered the short rib bento box it was filling & left me with a to go treat; it consisted of two tender short ribs, diced chicken and shrimp fried rice, miso soup or "Asian" green salad and a drink. The miso soup had good flavor and was garnished with a plantain but, it had the largest piece of tofu I've ever encountered. For dessert I had a green tea panacotta; it was refreshing, the green tea had a flan like texture with a pear purée and berries on top. My friend had a plum wine which was heavy yet sweet, the scallops and a salmon avocado roll, all good. The ambiance was nice, the restaurant was busy but not crowded plus the servers were attentive.
Harlem now has a great sushi restaurant with delicious sushi and rolls! The drinks and appetizers are the most memorable. Highly recommend the calamari and glazed short ribs.
I feel bad about this review because I love Jado but tonight was an off-night. Food was not good and service was sloooow. Looked like they were short-staffed for a full house. Really too bad.
Cute restaurant and great location. Great service. Menu is different so be open to new things. Love the different spin in sushi rolls.
Sushi was fresh and the service was good. I enjoyed the ambience and it was very romantic. I will definitely be back.
A friend introduced us to Jado Sushi 3 months ago,and we just loved the atmosphere, the food, and the service. It was populated with lots of locals and seemingly, lot of people like us who had journeyed up town for a dining adventure and happily found a gem on a broad friendly avenue and good transportation options. Our second visit was even better. Enjoy
I've been here several times and enjoyed myself each time. The service is very good unless there is new wait staff learning the ropes, but that's normal and to be expected.
The Jado Rice is huge and fit for two (at least). The Spicy Ninja is a must try. It was delicious.
Price point is great service and quality EXCELLENT
Wonderful addtion to the neighborhood
Service is awesome. Sake choices are awesome. Food is great. If you like sushi and want to try something more interesting than a California roll, this is a great place.
The food is really great and has a large choice ! Would recommand it to anyone who loves sushis !
I'm a regular here at Jado Sushi. The host, David, is so friendly and welcoming. Our servers, Mario & Jeffrey, are also very welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. I'm not sure who the bartender was for any time we've been, but the drinks (especially the Hibiscus Pom Margarita) are ALWAYS good. If you didn't know, the happy hour starts at 5pm and goes to 7pm... 15% off WOOHOO!
fyi- The bathroom mirror is great for selfies lol.
Besides offering a great sushi and sashimi plates, which are my favorites when dinning at jado. They also have good drinks and sake. My favorite is the passion Mojito. Regarding the food I really enjoy the sashimi platter for $28.00 and the presentation is as good as it fresh taste.
Notable saki list, innovative sushi and terrific service
Harlem restaurants are on the rise, and Jado is leading the charge - its excellent menu, both food and drink, and great vibe make it a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. And while it is pricy, the variety of innovative Japanese dishes (with and without fish) ensure that everyone will have a great meal.
Excellent restaurant. Wonderful food, service, and ambience
Reserved on OpenTable and requested a "romantic table in the back" and got the front table next to the windows. The restaurant was incredibly loud as well.
I suggest that they put in noise absorbers on the ceiling, and tell OpenTable to withdraw the option of table seating requests.
Fantastic bento box and interesting sake selection. Deafening at dinner. Could not carry on a conversation.
Jado is a rare find in Harlem. There are very few authentic Japanese restaurants in Harlem and Jado is one of them. The food was served in a very appealing way and the combinations were stellar. I will definitely return to Jado.
