About Jacques Brasserie
Jacques Brasserie is a relaxing sanctuary deep in the heart of the Upper East Side. Low key and inviting, this two-room restaurant and bar serves classic French dishes amongst dark wooden walls adorned with vintage poster advertisements and bohemian scenes a la Toulouse-Lautrec.
Open seven days a week, Jacques Brasserie serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
Our chef creates everything in house, producing classic dishes such as French Onion Soup, Escargot, Steak Frites, Poulet Roti, Salade Nicoise and our most popular dish, Moules Frites.

The food and ambiance were fine. We especially liked the apple/arugala salad and the bouilliabase (sp?). But the service was very lax. We had to keep hailing the waiter and busboy for everything from taking our order to bringing bread to bringing the check. It became annoying.
Four friends gathered for Christmas lunch at Jacques Brasserie and we all left satisfied, well-fed and considering a return. We ordered from the special holiday menu and the standard menu and all the food was well prepared and nicely presented.
The staff, from the hostess to our server enhanced the holiday spirit and were efficient and friendly.
Very disappointing culinary experience this evening. Green salads were fine. However, the kitchen was very slow in sending the main courses and we had to wait over 30 minutes for one chicken and two orders of moules. One dish came out with cold over cooked moules. We sent it back. The maitre D didn't even come to apologize. We skipped desserts. Overall, poor management, not worth coming back.
Ordered the hangar steak, which was the best I have ever had. Perfectly rare/medium rare served with a mustard-based sauce on the side. French fries accompanied the meal and were delicious dipped in the sauce.
Fantastic. Only improvement would have been to serve it on a warmed plate. It cooled down pretty quickly.
The food and service at Jacques are generally dependably good.
On this particular night they forgot two ingredients on the beet and goat cheese salad (no goat cheese! which they brought on our request).
In addition the entrees took a VERY long time to come which seemed odd early on a Friday of Labor Day weekend on the upper east side (many people are away so things are quiet).
We still had a nice dinner and they gave us an additional glass of wine due to the wait.
These small glitches certainly won't stop me from going back.
A very enjoyable dinner. Food was very tasty and was prepared in accordance with our specifications. The waiters were friendly and polite, if occasionally not around when we needed something...It was the perfect place to have a cozy dinner for two on a rainy night. Very, very pleased.
We arrived early for our reservation so we sat at the bar to have a drink. Our bartender (I'm not going to spell her name right but I think it was Yulie - she's from Poland) was awesome as was the manager (who jokingly told us his name was Omar Sharif). We decided to sit at the bar to have our dinner. My daughter and I split the steak and my mother had red snapper. All were delicious! We had a wonderful night. The drinks, food and service were all excellent. My daughter has moved to the upper east side so we'll be back next time I come to visit!
