Jacques Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
Ordered the hangar steak, which was the best I have ever had. Perfectly rare/medium rare served with a mustard-based sauce on the side. French fries accompanied the meal and were delicious dipped in the sauce.
Fantastic. Only improvement would have been to serve it on a warmed plate. It cooled down pretty quickly.
The food and service at Jacques are generally dependably good.
On this particular night they forgot two ingredients on the beet and goat cheese salad (no goat cheese! which they brought on our request).
In addition the entrees took a VERY long time to come which seemed odd early on a Friday of Labor Day weekend on the upper east side (many people are away so things are quiet).
We still had a nice dinner and they gave us an additional glass of wine due to the wait.
These small glitches certainly won't stop me from going back.
A very enjoyable dinner. Food was very tasty and was prepared in accordance with our specifications. The waiters were friendly and polite, if occasionally not around when we needed something...It was the perfect place to have a cozy dinner for two on a rainy night. Very, very pleased.
We arrived early for our reservation so we sat at the bar to have a drink. Our bartender (I'm not going to spell her name right but I think it was Yulie - she's from Poland) was awesome as was the manager (who jokingly told us his name was Omar Sharif). We decided to sit at the bar to have our dinner. My daughter and I split the steak and my mother had red snapper. All were delicious! We had a wonderful night. The drinks, food and service were all excellent. My daughter has moved to the upper east side so we'll be back next time I come to visit!
My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary at Jaques and we're very happy that we did. The dining room was beautiful and the service was excellent. We ordered the hanger steak and the scallops. The steak was delicious and the frittes were perfectly cut and yummy. The scallops were excellent too. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. We will definitely dine there again.
This lovely restaurant was selected as a place for a group of friends to get together after a long time apart. It's perfect for such occasions. The only wrinkle in our experience was the long length of time between placing orders and receiving them. I would recommend this restaurant highly.
What a Wonderful old NYC French restaurant. My wife had the in-season Soft Shell Crab she said was fabulous. I had the Steak Tartare which I loved. Tradional old restaurants in brownstones in NY are getting harder to find. Omar's attention to a request we had, and Julia's great service were a big plus. Thank you both. Don't miss Jacques.
Not our first time at Jacques Brasserie, but it has been several years.
The service was wonderful and the food as special as always.
We were there early on a Sat. Night - 5:45 ....perfect time.
We came for the mussels and the onion soup which did not disappoint.
We will return some day soon.
I passed this place a few times and always meant to give it a try. Finally went Memorial day weekend for brunch with a friend. When we arrived it was not crowded. Very nice tables outside. The restaurant started filling up after we arrived. Very nice French menu and great spicy Bloody Mary's. They were very accommodating and the service was very good....filling water glasses constantly. I would definitely go back and try dinner.
For Mother's Day we had 6 adults and a baby who stayed in a baby carriage. They gave us a great table that had room around it for the carriage. Despite the holiday the service was excellent and everybody was very cheerful and accommodating. We were not rushed despite the packed house. There were quite a few babies so it was really a nice scene for Mother's Day. It's certainly a welcoming place for families. The food and drink were very good as well.
