Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was very nice similar to many high end steakhouses. The wait staff was exceptional and this included front desk as well. The wine list has an extensive offering and many options. The Caesar salad prepared at table side was fabulous! There was a wide range of steak selections and all I would say were very pricey.. we selected an Alberta Ribeye.. while it was good I don’t think it was a great steak. The steak came sliced which seemed to serve the steak more warm than hot.. I would try this location again but would expect a hotter and more flavorful steak.
We went there for my husband's 40th birthday. He's a big steak lover. The service was superb. Everyone was very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered the Cesar salad to start. It was made table side and was delicious.
All items are served a la carte so when we ordered our mains we had to order the steak/chicken and a separate side. This was fine except that the side portions are huge! We could have done without the side orders but they tasted pretty ok. I got the potato gratin and hubby got the baked potato.
The roasted chicken was delicious and my husband's steak eas pretty good. Not the best steak we've ever had in terms of seasoning but the cut (rib eye) was very good and well cooked (medium).
Overall, a good experience and we would go again for another special occasion.
The food and service were excellent. Our server's suggestion of the IEP and wagyu steaks tasted exactly as how he described it.... perfect! Also, the bartender "trina" (I think) made us special drinks that weren't on the menu and were wonderful and exactly to our tasting.
A wonderful experience as always. Amazing service, and delicious food. I can’t order steak from anywhere other than Jacobs because it just doesn’t compare. They always prepare it perfectly. The staff are so attentive and always make sure your dining experience is perfect. Always looking forward to returning!
Greatly enjoyed our experience. The service was great and the food was amazing. The couple next to us had an unexpected guest at the restaurant who joined mid meal. The guest attempted to squeeze into the two person table. This ruined the romantic atmosphere and made us feel squished. Given the fine dining atmosphere and the restaurant's reputation we thought an effort should have been made to relocate the group to a larger table.
This was my second time at Jacobs, and it continues to be by far the best steak house I've ever been to. The selection, quality, execution, and attention to detail is impeccable. My wife and I were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, and it was a perfect evening of great food, great service, and perfect steaks. We enjoyed the 140 day aged ribeye as well as a 60-day aged tenderloin, both cooked to an excellent medium. I can't wait to return.
Great restaurant, great service, great concept. Would even rate it Michelin 1 Restaurant, with the exception of our steak which was dry, tough and disappointing.
I respectfully suggest that the principals of Jacobs &Co. visit Peter Lugger's Steakhouse in Brooklyn in order to compare and improve.
Expected greatness from the #1 rated steak house in Toronto....quite disappointing. The rib eye & filet were nothing to write home about. Tableside Caesar salad had so much hot sauce in the dressing it took away the entire flavor as well as burning the back of our throats. Martini for $20? Pity didn't even fill the glass!! Best part of the entire meal?? Cheddar popovers. Don't waste your money.
I was in town for an annual "guy's weekend" with my son to watch a couple Jays games, and wanted to hit a good steakhouse to cap off our trip. There are a lot of great options in this category in Toronto, but my research indicated that Jacobs was considered the best by most.
Wow did this place ever live up to that reputation. Best steak I've ever had, and I've had some good ones in my years. And we didn't even venture into some of the more premium Wagyu or Kobe options. Stayed on the Canadian prime part of the menu, and the standard 30-day aged bone-in striploin was just absolutely amazing.
Got to sit a couple tables away from some famous ball players as well, which my son really loved. I won't drop names, but one of their names rhymes with Mautista. I'd highly recommend this place for a special occasion, or if you just want to try the best steak of your life.
Noisy kids at a function in adjacent room was annoying. I was surprised management didn't offer to ask the annoying children to stop screaming. Perhaps one is afraid to offend nowadays. So, the suffrage is everyone.
I was mildly disappointed that knowing one would easily drop $200 per person for dinner, that there was a charge for parking. They call it valet parking for $20, but essentially the parking is literally next to the building; unless, your car is $100,000+, then they'll showcase it in the sliver of parking along the front of their dingy restaurant front. [Easily missed as it looks very industrial as oppose to an inviting restaurant entrance.]
The food was just ok (IMO, as I have indulged in many different steakhouses around the globe, and the hype finally got the best of me to try for a special occasion; luckily, this was a pre-celebration and I have a chance for redemption).
The portions were generous, but as I consistently heard from one sever (not ours), prices aren't "inexpensive." True, price is very expensive and for what I had anticipated was a let down. Had the screaming not been so constant, I don't think I'd be that upset. One would think management would have offered and apology to other diners acknowledging that there is a problem, but it isa sensitive issue and they have to the best of their abilities tried to resolve the issue. Unfortunately that was not the case and I am not one to suggest how a business is operated.
Hopefully others will find this place to be their gem.
Overall the food was ok, but certainly not worth 300 $/ person. The keg has better steaks for a much lower cost, which leads me to wonder why this establishment couldn't make better steaks. We started with the steak tartare; it had a nice flavour and texture, but the crackers were quite stale and threw the balance off. For the main, I ordered a rare steak. It was very tough and I found that I had difficulty cutting through it. I had the mushrooms and duck fried fries as sides which were overly greasy and took away from the flavour. The cocktails were nice and the sommelier suggested some nice pairings.
