The wagyu steak tasted absolutely stunning!
Fantastic night with vintage wine and delicious meat
Great place, definitely recommend to friends and family.
Excellent service!! Our server was very helpful with explaining the differences between each steak options. We loved both! The mussels were better than what we were expecting and we didn't have to wait too long. We will definitely come back!
We have been regular customers for 6 years, always great service and great food! I personally have referred people here because I respected the concept, embraced in this restaurant, of serving amazing steak in Canada. This was the first time we have been disappointed! We love prime beef cooked on the bone. Tonite was off! TBone was ordered medium rare, delivered medium+ and was already sliced! Clearly they knew it was over!
Our server gave us options, recook steak or carry on! Decided to carry on as were getting full! Side vegetables were excellent, Caesar salad was excellent! Steak was ruined!!!
We were comped 2 glasses of port and charged full price for the steak! Probably won’t be back!
Everything was perfect. Yes, it is very pricy but it is worth it. I’ve been here twice so far. The food, drink, service, music and atmosphere... everything was so satisfying.
When I go to the restaurant like this, what I most focus on is service. The quality of food is something that has to be(and obviously) good and something already proven. What takes the restaurant to the next level is the quality of service. The hospitality of servers and other staffs who interact with guests takes important part of measuring the quality of service, but what makes real difference is in details.
I’ve noticed the host intentionally slowed down as she walked us to the table and checked us after the stairs. I’m not sure if it was for giving us time to see the display of steaks aging in the room or just making sure she wasn’t too ahead of us, but I can definitely feel that they are taking care of guests. Even at the front gate they warn us with the last step. I can see that they are trying to make guests feel welcomed and staffs are paying attention.
Server had the full knowledge with the menu and explained every details as it comes. He asked us how are we doing at the right time with polite and appropriate attitude. Other staffs were also really helpful and the service was amazing. I can see they are well-trained and working as one team.
The food was fantastic. They were all perfectly seasoned. Nothing was too salty or blend(Surprisingly, it is quite common mistakes that fancy restaurants tend to make). They served three different salts but I didn’t really need them. Also I didn’t expect the portion would be this generous. The popovers and muffins were also great.
I was sitting at the bar alone on my second visit. The bartender was friendly and helpful. He tried to make cocktails to my preferences. I had a good conversation and he even told me he can grab a taxi for me.
I really enjoyed the times at Jacobs steakhouse and definitely going back.
Service was absolutely good.
Steak was lower than my expectations. Honestly, it’s not better than other steakhouse based on the much higher price. But the sides dish were tasty.
Highly disappointing. First they didn’t have any bone in ribeye’s. Service was average when one would expect a restaurant of this “caliber” to be spectacular. My ribeye was over cooked and I was never asked if it was cooked to my liking. Last, the minimum tip % was 18% which seems unreasonable when an everage meal without wine is over $100pp.
Exceptional service, food and atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit.
Great service great food!!
Liked the food. My boyfriend had their celtic ridge farm ribeye and I had the Bass since I'm not a steak person. The Caesar salad is a must-have! We both loved it. Best I've had and I would highly recommend the Flourless almond and coconut cake!
The bass was ok.
It was louder than I expected for a Wednesday night.
The service was good but a little snooty to be honest.
Overall the experience was good though.
Would recommend they have parking available for customers and/or validated parking.
Outstanding! A must when visiting TO. Great steak and awesome wine list
If you like steak, they have one for you. Soup to nuts the best place to eat a steak in town.
Unfortunately when we arrived for our anniversary dinner the neighbourhood had just suffered a power outage and Jacob's was not able to prepare any food. We were at a loss as to what to do but the staff stepped up and made arrangements for us at their sister restaurant. They even had someone personally walk us over. In the end we still had a fantastic time. Thanks Jacob's for saving our evening!
My wife and we’re spending the night in the city and went to Jacobs after hearing great things about it . We were very impressed with the great food and table service and will defiantly be going back !
The service was amazing and that's about it. Really expensive for a really underwhelming steak dinner. The portion was big. The waitress made a great suggestion of ordering half size side dishes for 2 people.
It was so amazing and the wagyu beef from japan is a must! Be prepared for a hefty bill. For two : which included 4 shrimp cocktail, 4 oysters, Caesar salad made table side, 4 oz A5 wagyu from japan , 6oz lean wagyu from japan plus almond cake and sorbet = 546. There were a few drinks in there too.
Still amazing experience and will do again
David the server was incredible !
Had a wonderful experience trying the different types of steaks that were well recommended by our waiter Michael who was very attentive.
Awesome place to go to. Food was amazing and super tasty. If you just want to go for drinks they have bars and a piano loft. Overall one of the best fine dining places in Toronto
Food and service for our anniversary was fantastic!
They even helped us with our stroller lol
Entire staffs were very attentive. Entire meal was on point with execution and taste. Definitely will come back for more intimate occasions.
Was very disappointed there was no shrimp available. Sadly one of my daughter's was only interested in the shrimp.
We were pretty clear that we felt sad but later saw shrimp at another table.
It was our first time here and our server was so helpful and informative. Such a wonderful experience, would highly recommend for special occasions.
While living in TO, had visited Jacobs many times and had always considered it one of the best, not only steakhouses, but restaurants, I had ever visited. So after an absence of nearly two years, was excited for a reunion. The greeting, table and initial pleasantries were all on par. Cocktails were excellent while I searched for a decent wine, which despite a very well stocked list, didn't offer any good values. Mid level wines were subject to heavy markups and wines by the glass were uninspiring and seriously overpriced. Shrimp appetizer and traditional popovers were very good. Caesar salad was first rate, but plates were warm and lettuce room temp....but dressing fantastic. Steak menu offered something for everyone and didn't disappoint. Dessert and coffee to finish. Service was initially a bit hurried, but the server seemed to adjust as he realized our relaxed pace was not meeting his expectations. One last point....an upgrade or maintenance of the HVAC system would be in order as the room was unpleasantly warm. Overall, a very pleasant experience, but when back in town, not sure I'll be drawn to Jacobs over other steakhouse options, given the cost and small, but important misses I wouldn't expect.
A late celebration for my “15th anniversary of my 25th” birthday and a new job. Had an extraordinary experience from the host(esses), our lovely server David, the other servers, the unbelievably delicious food and the overall atmosphere. We will most definitely finding ourselves back there to celebrate future endeavours and milestones or maybe just to enjoy a date night. Thank you for an unforgettable dining experience.
It was an excellent experience as always. The consistency of the experience from the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out, is truly impressive.
It was great place for steak fans
Wonderful time with my lady. We find three or four high end dining experiences everytime I visit her. This was by far the best yet. We look forward to many years of enjoying this magical place.
We dined to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful dining experience and we would definitely recommend it to our friends. Food was fabulous.
I really wanted a 5-star experience today to celebrate my husband's birthday.
Based on reviews as well as a nearly $500 bill for two, I thought we'd get that!
Yet for us, we only got a 4-star experience.
The ambience was good. It was relaxed and proper.
The staff seem pleasant as well.
The food was definitely good, and while it may well be the best steakhouse in Toronto, it didn't compare to Sparks or Lugers or even Gallagher's in NYC.
Despite that fact, the final bill was comparable or even more expensive than those greats.
It started out well.
The bread was abundant, fresh, tasty, and hot.
To start, we ordered the Caeser, made by a very pleasant salad maker in front of us, as well as beef bone soup.
The soup was excellent and the caeser was good. We liked the salad making ritual more than the salad though. There wasn't really anything too special about the taste. The Cobb salad at the ritz is far tastier.
We got potato purée and snow pea leaves as sides and ordered 2 ribeyes.
Here's where they started to lose us.
The plates were served very moderately warm, not hot like every other restaurant. While they explained they switch out the plates so your meat doesn't keep cooking, the meat itself was not hot. I suspect it was sitting for awhile before being served to us.
My husband requested It be flash heated, which they did no problem.
They seemed to be cooked more like medium well than the medium rare and medium we requested. Mine was actually a bit dry.
Now for dessert. The pecan brownie was extra tasty. It was excellent. A little off-putting was that at other high end restaurants, they comp you dessert for your birthday. This was not the case here. That does not compare favorably for Jacobs & co when it comes to other restaurants.
If this were a $250 meal it would be five stars. At double the price, it gets only 4 stars. It didn't hit on all points for us.
it was yummy
The food was amazing, which we expected. But the service was even better. We sat at the bar and our bartender, Carl, was fantastic.
Outstanding service and steak selection. Very comfortable atmosphere.
Came here to celebrate my birthday. The food and service was absolutely phenomenal. If you have a high appreciation of meat this is the place to go.
Our waiter was quick with us and quite blunt. A bit disappointing
Food was delicious, easily some of the best steak we have ever eaten, the service was good, it just was not outstanding, which we would have expected, but still one o the best places to grab a steak i nthe city
