My boyfriend and I went in for our anniversary, the staff was absolutely amazing. Polite, attentive, knowledgeable. I’m a pescitatian so they helped make my menu experience perfect. Cocktails were superve & totally worth trying. We both enjoyed every part of the meal 100%. And the service was nothing less than perfect. We’ve both worked in restaurants before, and have never seen anywhere work like such a team and so fluidly all night long.
It was amazing, we’re gonna make it an anniversary tradition!
The team at Jacobs always work hard to ensure an enjoyable experience; this visit was no exception. They use top quality ingredients that are selectively sourced, meticulously prepared, and then served with a fluid service that almost seems effortless. It was our first time to Jacobs. We came especially because you offer Halal steaks. The entire experience was amazing from beginning to end. I appreciate the fact that you accommodate to different dietary restrictions (i.e. no bacon in the Caesar salad). It would be good if you can provide French fries that aren't fried in duck fat. Hope to come back soon.
First off, it was a tad harder than expected to find the restaurant as the exterior is very nondescript, and with the snow starting to pile up, the little sign outside easy to miss. Once inside though, the decor was modern and nice.
It being my first time, and knowing the cost, I was expecting a more intimate fine dining experience, but that was not the case, as there a several tables of business professionals. Some were actually just having a dinner meeting. So the atmosphere was much louder than expected, especially with a boisterous table beside us. I could barely hear my girlfriend across the table while speaking normally.
Onto the food, we ordered the Caesar salad, a side of Potatoes, half-order of mushrooms and for the meats, a 60-day aged 18 oz PEI bone-in striploin and a 4 oz cut of A5 Black Tajima-Hokkaido striploin. This was plenty for the two of us. The PEI striploin was great, and the A5 AMAZING. I wish I could have afforded more. The sides were alright; the fries were nothing particularly special. The Caesar salad prepared table side was fun, and tasty.
It was my girlfriend's birthday so in the end they had a candle-lit plate with 2 pieces of chocolate. I thought there might have been more, but I guess this was nice.
Altogether the bill was around $385, which was quite steep. The service and food were good but I wasn't convinced that it was good enough to justify the cost. A return visit would have to be reserved for a special occasion where price isn't a factor.
I brought my wife from Colorado to Toronto just so she can try a sample of their Kobe steak. They prepare extremely well and it’s always a treat have a meal st Jacobs. Whenever I’m in town I make it a point to go. My wife also enjoyed watching them prepare our Cesar Salad tableside.
The food was amazing and the service was great. However, our waiter forgot to pack several things in our takeout bag, including the australian wagyu steak which we had half leftover. Lots of money was spent on items that were left behind. I don’t normally check the bag and I have never had an issue in the past. However, this has changed that. We were looking forward to eating leftovers the next day but unfortunately could not. We had a wonderful time at Jacobs for our anniversary but unfortunately this has left a sour taste.
Didn’t find any dish notable except for the muffins at end of meal . The ceased salad was overpowered by garlic (and I love garlic). The steaks we had were fine but felt could get better at cumbrae’s and prepare at home. Desserts were nothing special. $200 per person meal and nothing to really get excited over unfortunately.
Great quality steaks from local to global offerings. Great atmosphere and stellar service. Don't feel intimidated if this is what you're looking for, the staff was warm and there was not an ounce of elitism felt throughout the night. Portion sizes were more than generous as a whole meal; looking around individually you may not think so but at the end of the night more than satisfied.
Of course the level of food, decor, ambiance, and service comes with the price tag so be prepared - but in Toronto we felt this is an excellent value as in we didn't feel it was overpriced for the total package nor was it lacking in any areas where you'd expect better.
This is officially my favourite restaurant in Toronto. The food was outstanding and the service was incredible! Every cut of beef we tried was delicious - my favourite was the 60 day aged ribeye. The service was top notch - our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and gave great recommendations on what to try and how much to order. It was a little pricey but definitely worth the fine dining experience! This is a great place for special occasions. I can't say enought about the service and food!
The restaurant was very nice similar to many high end steakhouses. The wait staff was exceptional and this included front desk as well. The wine list has an extensive offering and many options. The Caesar salad prepared at table side was fabulous! There was a wide range of steak selections and all I would say were very pricey.. we selected an Alberta Ribeye.. while it was good I don’t think it was a great steak. The steak came sliced which seemed to serve the steak more warm than hot.. I would try this location again but would expect a hotter and more flavorful steak.
We went there for my husband's 40th birthday. He's a big steak lover. The service was superb. Everyone was very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered the Cesar salad to start. It was made table side and was delicious.
All items are served a la carte so when we ordered our mains we had to order the steak/chicken and a separate side. This was fine except that the side portions are huge! We could have done without the side orders but they tasted pretty ok. I got the potato gratin and hubby got the baked potato.
The roasted chicken was delicious and my husband's steak eas pretty good. Not the best steak we've ever had in terms of seasoning but the cut (rib eye) was very good and well cooked (medium).
Overall, a good experience and we would go again for another special occasion.
The food and service were excellent. Our server's suggestion of the IEP and wagyu steaks tasted exactly as how he described it.... perfect! Also, the bartender "trina" (I think) made us special drinks that weren't on the menu and were wonderful and exactly to our tasting.
