The lush landscaping, new patio, and the ample parking help make Jacmel Inn a culinary oasis worthy of a 60 miles drive from New Orleans.
The menu has evolved over the years while always using fresh Louisiana Seafood, cooking techniques and dishes derived from traditional Louisiana culture and for 31 year serving great steaks from Iowa corn fed beef.
Our executive Chef Josh Garic creates our menu, which evolves seasonally. Our dinner with a winemaker series is very popular with our customers for the past 20 years.
Our ambiance is a blend of Caribbean, nautical and New England Inn. Guests will feel comfortable dressed casually or dressed to attend a symphony.
The upstairs dining area can seat up to 50 people. The side porch area can seat up to 20 people. The bar dining area can seat up to 30 people. With a brick privacy wall, the patio would make a great location for a private party if weather permits. Other features of the patio are a covered pavilion, umbrellas, fountain, and bar area that has music. The features create an ambiance found somewhere in Europe.
Our favorite restaurant in Tangipahoa Parish. Service is excellent, ambiance cozy and quiet. Drinks are well crafted. Very good scotch collection. Flavors are fresh and delicate and delicious. Chef’s fish dishes are superb.
I've dined at Jacmel for many years. The food is consistently good. Crab cakes are excellent & always have been. Jumbo lump crabmeat & very little fill. I thought the addition of beans (kidney??) on top was a little strange. Did not compliment the crab cake. I would highly recommend Jacmel.
I've always loved eating out at this lovely restaurant! I will always come back!
Fantastic dining experience! If you've never been or if it's been a while, you are missing out. First and most importantly, the food was outstanding. My fish was perfectly cooked. My pet peeve is overcooked fish. Here, the chef cooked it precisely as fish should be cooked. I could not have asked for it to be cooked better. My wife's steak was cooked exactly as she ordered it. She absolutely loved it. The butternut squash soup was delicious. Our waiter was very courteous, prompt, and regularly checked on us without being a bother. The restaurant is a beautiful, old late 1800s home. We dined in an area with a softly burning fireplace. It made for a lovely evening. But, I have to go back and compliment them on the wonderful food. Fantastic! It was a short, easy drive from Covington-Mandeville. It was nice to get away from the usual crowed places in our area. We are planning to go back before the end of this month. Yes, it was that good.
We met for a family get together with company from out of state. The food is always excellent, but is very meat and carbohydrate heavy. The food is also very rich, with a lot of butter and cheese used in both the appetizers that we had and the soups/main dishes. The flavors are excellent, but for those of us who are mindful of what we eat the vegetables that come with the meal are small to say the least - the vegetables are mainly as garnish for the meat.
I was really looking forward to this place. I reserved a table a couple weeks in advance for my 4 year wedding anniversary. We both ordered Ribeyes- one medium well, one medium rare. They were cooked correctly, however, they were so tough! I am a big eater and I never don’t finish a meal- I did not eat more than half of my steak, neither did my wife. The asparagus was delicious, the fried potato was weird. Our soup and salad (that we paid $9 a piece for) were the only good part of it. The bread pudding was disappointing. We were just not satisfied at all and will not be returning.
The only saving grace was our server, Trace. She was awesome. We tipped her $35 for the two of us, but are very disappointed that we paid $180 (including tip) for a meal that we were not satisfied with whatsoever.
Wow! The burger at jacmel is awesome!
the crab cake appetizer was delicious ! The cocktails were well made. We ordered steak which was perfect. We did not care for the potato side dish....it seemed below the standards of the rest of the meal.
Otherwise an enjoyable was had and I'm sure we will return.
My daughter treated me for my 82nd birthday. She spent 12 years in Switzerland and 20 in Australia, and was a graduate of New York Culinary Institute but hasn’t lived in US until recently. She approved!! Me too, but it’s been a favorite of mine for years.
Place needs painting. Waitress was ok. Food not as good as last time. Disappointed
Service was great, food was very good, BUT just thought the serving size for the appetizer and the dessert wasn’t quite enough bang for your buck. Other than that, very cozy, safe environment and definitely worth knocking off your bucket list, at least once.
My husband and I had a reservation on Thursday for date night! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. Before our date night I recently went on Sunday with all of my girlfriends. Food and service was great as expected, but there was one thing that made me feel very uncomfortable. Our server was fixing a minor and very simple fix to our food, when the owners wife interrupted her and tried to embarrass her in front of the table. The server we had was great and did everything she was supposed to in the proper way. I am not sure why the older lady felt the need to interrupt her to 'lecture' her about her service right in front of our faces. If anything about service was wrong, it was what the owners wife did to the server.
I have been visiting Jacmel's for over a decade. I have never been disappointed in anything I ordered there.
Our server Mary Beth was fantastic. Such a sweet, personable and knowledgeable person. The food was excellent and the timing when it was brought out was spot on! Thanks Mary Beth. Enjoyed talking with you. This was our first meal at Jacmel Inn. Did plenty of wine and Whiskey tastings but never dinner. We will definitely be back. Best steak ever cooked to perfection!
First off, ask for “Julia”. She was an excellent waitress. Pretty older building with a cool old bar, little rooms with lots of wood, windows , fireplaces.
Candle and linens on the table but not stuffy.
We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs. Yum! My husbands French onion soup was delicious and done as it should be- ( very plentiful/ so he could only eat half his entree!) I had the half crispy duck- ssooo good! Would recommend - and also plentiful. My husband had the rabbit and recommends that as well. Ps: delicious homemade bread from nearby bakery.
Our service was perfect from beginning to end.
Great dinner! Will be back!
Trace was in training and did an awesome job. Look forward to having her serve us again.
Food was very good. Nice atmosphere. They appeared to be understaffed, because the service wasn’t up to par. Don’t plan on returning and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great food, atmosphere and service... romantic as well
Great food and great service
Went with family from out of town. Great experience. We live close by and we always go. It’s our favorite
Jacmal 's was an outstanding choice for our anniversary. It is located in an old house and gives you a very cozy and romantic atmosphere. The food was outstanding. I had panroasted redfish and my wife had the shrimp over grits. My wife normally does not like fish but she tried mine and thought it was delicious enough to try more. Highly reccomend this restaurant.
Another amazing meal at Jacmel our favorite local spot. The menu has stabilized with some great iconic dependable dishes. The Duck is crispy and tasty and the best I have ever had. My wife had the fish special and it was perfectly cooked and the presentation was attractive. This restaurant has such a romantic and quaint atmosphere. The service is good and non fussy. The wine is reasonably marked up. I highly recommend Jacmel.
I had the opportunity to have dinner at Jacmel. I had read several positive reviews but as a hospitality professional myself, I always need to experience for myself new dining. I was impressed with everything about this evening. Service, food and environment were all superior. I will be back in the future indeed and would highly recommend Jacmel to anyone that will listen!
Lovely restaurant with great food. No complaints. Good wine selection .
Will definitely be returning very soon.
Great atmosphere with great service by all staff. The happy hour was definitely worth it an tge calamari was exceptional.
Anniversary dinner. Very romantic setting. Appetizers where great. Filet was so tender. Highly recommend.
My 5th at the restaurant and it just keeps getting better. I am always happy with the selections on the menu that is constantly evolving and just keeps getting better
This place is a hidden gem. Alex our waiter was great!! He fit it with the whole group and all of our shenanigans!! Would recommend to anyone. Can’t wait to go back for dinner.
The atmosphere, especially the lighting, was very nice. The food was truly outstanding for a small town restaurant. The daily soup was corn and eggplant. Very good. Had the daily fish special, grouper, which was also very good.
Food and service were great. Great atmosphere. Quiet. Thumbs up all the way around.
Always enjoy Jacmel. Christopher waited on us and was very pleasant and down to earth. Food was great as expected; never any surprises with the quality.
A wonderful place for dear friends to meet for lunch! Delicious crab cake appetizer. One of us had crab and shrimp pasta which was very good. Nice broth and veggies. Three in our party ordered the burger. They were not asked how they wanted them cooked, and all came out extremely rare with the middle being raw and, to them, inedible. They mostly ate the toppings, although found the bacon to be very fatty. Very disappointing! They would have enjoyed them had they been cooked to medium or even medium rare. Service was good, except for server neglecting to ask for doneness of meat. Will try again when back in Hammond. It’s a lovely place and other dishes were good.
We went for lunch on a Thursday and all three of us had a very nice meal. We shared crispy fried oyster appetizer, then each of us had a different entrée (veal parmesan, Jacmel burger and pan fried grouper. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the entrees.
The restaurant is a throwback (in a good way) with classic wood decorations, walls and floors. The noise level was very low, allowing us to have a pleasant conversation. I'd suggest it would also be good for a business lunch.
I’ve loved Jacmel’s my whole life but over the last year this restaurant has changed management and thereby declined in customer service and ambiance. Food is very good but the charm is lost when simple services (like a “no separate checks” policy) and building maintenance is overlooked. Hopeful things will be turning around with the new management .
The crab cake appetizer is the best we've ever had with lots of crab and little breading. Great atmosphere, good food and wonderful service.
We were there for graduation. Food was amazing. Staff was great. We will be back.
Dinner for my youngest daughter. She graduated from high school! Great way to close the book on this phase of life. The waiter was extremely nice. Food was excellent. Served hot and timely. Thanks to Jacmel Inn for being a part of a wonderful evening!
Friendly staff, excellent food, and quiet ambiance.
Great food but not cheap. Flavors were incredible.
