Jacky's Waterplace Restaurant (Downtown, Providence) Ratings and Reviews
Made a reservation for 4 at 830pm, front desk was rude, unwelcoming, and snobby, they said our table wasn’t ready it would be just a few minutes. Went back to front desk and to manager twice, we were not seated until 915pm - a 45 minutes wait with a reservation. The waiter was friendly but forgot a few things. The food was delicious and the view was perfect.
They did a great job accommodating my whole family (including two children 7 and 5). The server was excellent, especially after my daughter spilled a whole beverage at the table. The team took care of it immediately and didn't make my daughter feel embarrassed. Regarding the food, I feel there is no much mediocre pan-Asian cooking around that this was an excellent departure. The duck was excellent, as was the sushi. The canal view was also a very nice touch.
While we had to wait a while for our 8pm reservation, it was well worth it. It was obviously a very busy night there, but our server was attentive and apologized for the length of time it took for the food to be served. The food was excellent. I had the seafood egg drop soup, which was full of delicious seafood. Even better was my husband 's miso sea bass. Our table was at a window overlooking Waterplace Park and in an area quiet enough to catch up with the friends we dined with. A very enjoyable evening.
We were the with a group of 16 year old girl celebrating a birthday. I ordered a varied amount of appetizers and encourages them all to try something new. To my surprise they gobbled up most of the 10 appetizers (which were varied and quite good) and then ordered entrees but most were too full to enjoy the generous dinner portions. But that is what they have containers for......Overall really good service, nice atmosphere and just a great all around experience.
I've been to Jacky's Waterplace Restaurant before and had nothing but good experiences. The service is prompt and efficient and the food is delicious. They have a wide variety depending on what you feel like to eat. The overall restaurant is neat and kept clean and the greeting hostesses are attentive and help you right away.
We have been many times! It's always consistently great! We had theatre tickets and wanted something good and quick and that's what we got! Have never had a bad meal! Beautiful restaurant with great views! Great value for your money! Highly recommend this restaurant! A must in Providence!
I made reservations weeks in advance that would coincide with waterfire and requested to have seats to see it with my family. They were not able to accommodate my request. It was a fantastic meal. Very loud in the restaurant. Easy valet parking. We left the restaurant and were able to see waterfire later (though not the lighting) while waiting for our car.
This is my favorite restaurant. We frequently dine here for special occasions, date night or a simple quick bite with friends. Unfortunately, the past 2 or 3 visits were a little disappointing. Once we are Sat we've had to wait a very long time just for someone to greet us. After that, everything about the service is just mediocre.. takes a while to receive drinks, server not personable, for the money we are spending and we just feel like we are a bother to the server is upsetting. Food is always amazing, never an issue with that. Both of us being in the industry we are very understanding, but as it kept happening we figured we would share our experience knowing the importance of feedback. Next time we will think twice about choosing your location with these experiences in mind.
We like the environment. The room temp was at the freezing level. Appetizers (sushi and cabbage) were good. Wine selection was extremely expensive. Entree food orders were not great! General tso's chicken was covered with a thick layer of very sweet sticky souse, salmon had a thick, sweet souse on which made the fish taste horrible. Teriyaki chicken was again too sweet. Duck was the only meat with no souse on, which was edible. We enjoyed the place due to good chat with friends, but food needs to be improved.
One of my favorite restaurants in RI. It has a great bar. Not noisy. Great for work events, anniversaries, birthdays or just a get together. You can be dressed up, business casual or nice jeans. I don't recommend shorts and flip flops but almost anything goes.
