Frequent visitor, consistently good
Food was horrible!! I was served pastrami that was cold and raw. The manager told me the cut was just “fatty”. Fat was the least of my concern. I have never seen pastrami served that is part pink and part grey (from age) without a crust of black pepper/peppercorns on the outside. I was then offered to order something else. I was astonished that I had to pay anything for my meal! The manager repeatedly told me that I was served “fresh burgers” and why shouldn’t I have to pay. Please tell me what manager would jeopardize losing a customer and receiving a bad review for $30? That just shows you the immaturity and lack of experience of the management staff. Stay away from this place!!!
Always good but at very busy times we’ve had orders come to the table wrong or forgotten
Went with 6:45 reservations on a Saturday, extremely crowded asked to wait. 10 minutes were seated , server extremely polite and attentive despite huge crowds waiting. Ordered their special prime rib , after co spidering that one third the piece was fat, that left about a 7 ounce piece for the $32.00 charge. Noise level is to the point of painful. I was hoarse the next morning from trying to talk to my spouse just across a 2.5’ table. Would not go again on a weekend.
Our first time there but with friends who have been before. Pearl’s fried chicken was great. The big pretzel appetizer was better than I expected. My dinner companions had specials (lobster ravioli and a shrimp dish.) The French Toast sundae alone would be worth going back for. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Nice, lively atmosphere with plenty of parking in the back. The down side is I am still full 12 hours later.
Excellent food and superior service. We'd planned to lunch at nearby Clyde's but when we arrived at noon to a nearly empty restaurant they said they couldn't serve us until 2:00. I made a reservation at Jacksons for our group a few minutes later. Our waiter could not have been better. And the food was excellent.
Great food, excellent service. Whitney our server was a doll!
Perfect evening for my sons birthday. There were 6 adults and 3 children. Everyone was accommodated nicely and the food was good and served promptly. Have been ther
There is something for everyone on Jackson's menu including breakfast and brunch options. Everything we saw being served throughout the restaurant looked beautifully prepared. The menu has many favorites which made it difficult to choose.
Always a good meal here. A reliable local spot with an ever changing menu and friendly staff.
Food was good. Noise was horrible. Way too loud. We asked if we could be moved to a quieter area and we were told no because they had to set up for a party for the next day. Well this was on a Sunday night. How Many parties are on a Monday morning? Then they found a spot by the bar which was a little better. They should do something about the NOISE!
I would still go back because I do like this place. Just not so happy with this night.
P.S. They never even started to set up for the party the next day.
Loved the décor. Plenty of parking. Server was informative about the beer and his suggestion for me was very good. Food was hot and delicious. Our burgers were cooked true to our liking. Would definitely return.
Went years ago. Stopped after they did not know what type of food they wanted to serve ( menu was all over the place ). Haven't been back since, until last night. Much improved. Food was very good. Menu stuck to one style of food. Would go again. One draw back was no ribs or fried chicken on menu, which is what this restaurant was noted for.
I've been going to Jackson's with my family for many years. We've always had good food and service. Recently 3 friends & I enjoyed a drink during happy hour at the bar and then moved to a table for an enjoyable meal. We split the peanut butter chocolate dessert-- yum!
Ordered a chopped salad with grilled chicken. Chicken was undercooked. Waiter inattentive, food slow to come out,.. not a great meal
I'd been to the restaurant once before for a birthday party, large affair, food was great. This past Saturday for dinner & was very disappointed in the quality of the food. I had the ny strip steak, it was tough. My husband had the prime rib which was tough & served very rare when it was to be medium rare, his baked potato was hard-inedible. Our friend had the Mahi Mahi taco. He said the fish itself was good but the portion was very small & whatever sauce was on there was very runny. Needless to say the waiting had no clue about gluten free & made no attempt to ask for assistance. I had said no onion rings for that reason, when my steak came onion rings were on it. Sorry will never go back.
Always consistently great food!
I always have a tough time deciding what To get.
Great neighborhood restaurant.
Had a birthday dinner at the restaurant. Was disappointed as we have allergies in our family. The server was knowledgeable about what could/could not be ordered based on allergies. Unfortunately they fry pecans in the fryer and therefore no fried foods were possible for those family members. Even with this hiccup- the night was enjoyable.
Went with another family with teenagers for NYE. Everything was delicious and kids had a nice evening too! Definitely will go back.
Recently I booked a family luncheon at this restaurant. The day before the party I was informed by the manager that I had cancelled the reservation 2 days before. I had not done this and had 30 people arriving in less than 24 hours. So be careful at Jackson's that if they get a better offer your reservation gets cancelled!
This is one of our local restaurants we go to quite often and we are never dissapoisnted. Great food and drink with fantastic servers and service.
Christmas Day was not a good day to dine in the only restaurant open in Commack !
Steak came out rare. I sent it back, it was still rare.
They were very busy so I'll give them a pass this time!
a very nice neighborhood restaurant, friendly staff, good food
It was Christmas Day and I needed a place to have an early dinner with a friend. It was nearly impossible to find a place that would be open. Luckily, Jackson's was and I was set. This was my first visit but I knew enough people who had eaten here and recommended it. And it was very good. The menu wanders in a few directions with a nod to New Orleans, Italian-American, and all American. I ordered the French onion soup as my starter; strong, beefy, salty, cheesy. It delivered. My friend ordered a special, NY strip steak with 3 shrimp on top (surf and turf) that took a riff on oreganata flavors. She enjoyed the steak, which was no less than 8 ounces. I had a standard dinner selection, rigatoni a la vodka with chicken. It was huge, with shreds of spinach scattered throughout. It was tasty and meant for big eaters or for people like me, who like to take home food for at least two more meals. It's a fun, casual place. We were dressed up a bit since we were invited elsewhere for dessert. But we never felt uncomfortable. I plan to return.
Great selection of unique craft beer.
Usually a great dining experience. Was just ok this time. The order probably would have come out correctly if the waitress had written it down.
Food is very good. It's a family restaurant so the noise level is a little high. The service and staff were very friendly. Would go back again.
Honored reservation Came a little early and was seated Asked for a table in a quieter area and they accommodated us with out a problem although the only negative about the restaurant is that it is very noisy on a Saturday night Good food and the Pecan crusted chicken is delicious and plentiful
My family & I went for an early dinner. Only a few tables were filled & we were looking forward to a nice meal. I ordered a build your own veggie burger, my daughter ordered a grilled cheese, my son ordered pasta, & my husband ordered a variety meat platter. For an appetizer we ordered the baked pretzel platter along with lobster egg rolls.
The pretzels came out & they were hard as a rock, we could have broke a tooth on them! We told the waiter & he took the plate away yet had the audacity to leave them on the check & expect us to pay for them. My daughter's grilled cheese came out burnt as well as my burger. We will never go back here with so many other options why would we? If Jacksons wants to continue to be in business they need to get a new chef!!
Service was good our server must have been New because she was clearly nervous but she did a good job. We did not get her name. The food was good, too noisy not easy to carry on a conversation.
We had a great dinner with friends. Food was great, drinks were perfect and the server was friendly. We would go back any time. We did not feel rushed and we seated at our reservation time.
We decided on Jackson's for this fall's Restaurant Week. The menu listed on-line is what intrigued us, with interesting choices for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. They were all enjoyable. Only draw back was the booth area where we sat was rather dimly lit. But the service was great, and the menu choices definitely me our expectations. Would go there again.
Unknowingly we went during restaurant week and even though our waitress was extremely busy she was still attentive and very friendly. I had the blackened mahi tacos and my friend had the fish and chips....we both were very happy with our dishes. They made a good cocktail as well.
Food is always fine the place is good for a casual dinner. Service was not as good as it usually is
Love this place. Really would like to see them update their menu. But food is very good
Food was awesome very loud
This is our go to place when the girls get together. the food selection and quality is excellent. they know we are catching up and we are never rushed out.
Jackson's is a favorite "go to" place for us. Consistently good food and service.
This was such a great find! Perfect for families and casual dining. The mahi tacos were delicious! Our waitress was great! Love this place :)
