About Jackson Fillmore Trattoria
Jackson Fillmore Trattoria is a local favorite for a casual, neighborhood meal. Jack has been cooking up great Roman and Southern Italian food at Jackson Fillmore since 1985. We have a small dining room to accomodate reservations for parties of 3 or more and a dining counter for parties of 2 or those who just drop by. Our wine list is primarily Italian, representing all of the great regions in Italy. Our Bombolotti Sugo de Carne, Carpaccio di Zucchini and Tiramisu are legendary. Check out our website to view samples of the menu and wine list, or for more information about us.

Jackson Fillmore Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
Me and my family love this family owned gem. We take everyone who comes to SF here. They all love it. Great wine and great food. The staff is incredible. They are friendly, welcoming, and are passionate about describing their wine selections and homemade prepared food. It's everything you could want in a trattoria.
It is difficult to write a review about a place that has good food. The reason for not a stellar review is based upon the reason to go out to a restaurant. You want to feel good about the experience of the whole event! I booked on open table and arrived and was told my table is not ready. My choice was wait until when??? Or sit at the counter. Why have a reservation to not get a table? Now all would be ok with the counter but how about a "I'm so sorry". Don't hold you breath! I don't need to feel like they are doing me a FAVOR. So the food is good the experience sucks.
Had a reservation for 5. Were seated in a nice corner table. They brought out bruschetta for the table right away. Good wine list. Does not have a full bar. The food is very good. I am Italian and wish I had gotten the pasta. They make it. Sauces were very good. Very energetic, tight space but worth the food.
What a trattoria should be: Simple, casual, friendly and satisfying. We shared the burratta caprese appetizer which was pleasurable and plenty for 2-3 to share for a light beginning. The penne pescatore was perfectly prepared - fresh shellfish in a mild, light tomato sauce. The eggplant parmagiana was homey with a light punch of pepper . The special of the day pork chop was reported to be delicious and tender. We enjoyed a terrific bottle of Montepulciano riserva and capped our dinner with rich expressos. Service was attentive and efficient, not rushed. We will look forward to our next visit.
Weve been fans of Jackson/Fillmore for 30+ years...it is truly an authentic Italian Trattoria
Right now with tomatoes in season, the buratta, with tomato salad is indescribable. And my go to Snapper with spicy tomato sauce is still the best of the best.
Great staff, we always feel at home at JF.
For a great Italian experience..no need to go to NoBe and stress over parking..there are remarkably lots of spaces on Fillmore street at night.
we went for a Birthday and hadnt been for years. BUt it was great, food was delicious and fun atmosphere. Only thing was we sat by the door and had to get up to close it constantly . Lazy folks coming in would leave the door open. other than that will start going more often now.
I had a very enjoyable dinner here in Jackson Fillmore. The food was tasty and the service was wonderful. Loved our waitress, so helpful and friendly. I also was a big fan of the ambiance in the restaurant. There is a great atmosphere but not crazy loud which was great!
I will definitely be back again!
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner here on a bustling Saturday night. The server immediately brought us delicious warm bruschetta on the house, which we enjoyed while deciding what to order. My husband had a lovely salad if burrsta over perfectly cooked thick asparagus and I had the impressive house salad that was big enough for two. My husband's entree, chicken with green olives and lemon, was absolutely delicious. My linguine with prawns and shrimp was only ok, though, and could have used bolder seasoning. Affogato for dessert was a perfect ending. Love the homey, comfortable energy of this place, which is perfect for couples, families, and small groups.
The food was excellent, as always; however, the service left a bit to be desired: the pasta was brought out at the same time as the main courses, the waiter never came over to the table to ask if everything was okay with the meal, the waiter's manner was a very off-hand when he asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu (even suggesting that we did not want to see it), and the waiter never suggested after dinner coffee. In addition, although we asked for nothing special after ordering, ordered four courses and wine, and left a generous tip, he did not thank us or say anything to us as we left. Disappointing! Not at all what I expected after the gracious welcome of the former host/owner.
I've been a patron of Jackson Fillmore since their opening in the mid 80's. For anyone familiar with San Francisco, NO restaurant survives in San Francisco longer than 5 years unless it is SPECTACULAR. Even though Jack sold his restaurant a few years back (and haven't been here since moving away last year), the food and service are as good or BETTER than ever before. This is easily among my top 5 favorite restaurants in San Francisco. As for what to order, well, you can't go wrong with ANYTHING on the menu. It's all great!
Genuinely one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The menu is awesome, from the staples to the specials. It's consistently delicious. The staff is great and seemingly genuinely care that you enjoy your time with them unlike some of the more recent "must go" restaurants in the city popping up. I ok e this place.
