The food was excellent and the service superb!
Delicious food and a warm welcoming place. It’s a noisy and high energy neighborhood place and that felt so good after a year of isolation. The manager was so honest and direct, recommending that we share a salad because it was large. He seemed to really care that we have a great experience there.
Love this place! So good to see everyone
This is a local restaurant we have enjoyed many times over the last 30 years. It is our go to eatery in San Francisco and we love it. All of the staff are great and make you feel like you are eating at a friend's house. Food is delicious along with its local flavor.
Prompt response to reservation. Great ambience, great servoce. great food and wine, a great evening. Thankyou
Jackson Fillmore is back and service is great, food is pricier but wonderful welcoming feeling from the manager. Great neighborhood spot for many yeaars.
This restaurant was a suggestion from a friend. So glad I listened. Both the food and service were excellent. I will definitely be visiting again next time in San Francisco! Do yourself a favor and try them out.
The menu prices seemed high and not aware everything was ala carte
We absolutely love this restaurant so much! Thrilled it has reopened, and with all of our favorite faces and foods
Glad to see Jackson-Fillmore is open, but the restaurant needs a little help with service and food. Everyone was pleasant, but service was inconsistent (sometimes very attentive, sometimes almost being ignored). Food was okay - some things better than others - but definitely not great. I ordered the arugula salad, which was drenched with dressing. The veal chop was greasy, tough, and didn't seem like a good cut of meat. The chop is also served with arugula; I wish our server reminded me of this, as I would have chosen another starter. We'll wait a while before we return.
We had three dishes. The two pasta dishes were overwhelmed with sauce and very heavy. The veal chop was great.
Still good food overall, but the restaurant has seen better days. I think it has gone from a neighborhood gem to a neighborhood hangout/dive? Was there on a busy Saturday night. Good energy, but not a good greeting when we arrived and the staff kept leaving the front door open on a freezing night; one lady sitting near the door had to jump up and close it at least half a dozen times. This is not a special occasion restaurant, it is a place to have a glass of wine and some pasta. I had remembered from years ago and was disappointed in the direction it has gone. Pretty good wine list, however.
I absolutely love this spot. I recommend the zucchini and almond appetizer, and the chicken noci and salmon with white bean and avocado for your main. The staff is so friendly. Vibrant place, once of our favorites.
First time in 30 years the experience wasn’t its usual 110%. Only mention because I’m sure it’s a one off, but in case management sees this as some recent trend and mine isn’t the only less than stellar comment, they can fix it. The food just wasn’t as insanely great, right down to the complimentary bruschetta! Still love you!
As extraordinary as ever- delicious and maintained a unique ambiance despite sidewalk seating
Best experience ever and food! We absolutely loved the manager and enjoyed talking with him! He made a great wine recommendation and took great care of us!
Always a treat. Best Italian food and ambience/experience in the city. Feels like visiting Nonna!
I love the staff! They're all so nice and welcoming. Because of the Covid restrictions, we were seated outside on the corner. They brought out a table and chairs for us as soon as we arrived.
I don’t think we caught them on a good night. Our experience was pretty bad. They were out of a lot of things and rather than telling us what wasn’t available from the beginning, we had to find out when we ordered. Some of the staff were very kind and tried to apologize while others appeared frustrated by the smallest request. Very disappointing.
Overall good home cooked Italian food. The restaurant ambiance is a cold empty restaurant but we also went during COVID. Hopefully we’ll be back in the new year and have a different experience
Great food & great service- excited to go back!
Been going Jackson Fillmore for years; it’s a very special restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff is terrific. I’ve never had a bad meal. Hopefully they’ll be able to hang in there until indoor dining is allowed again.
Menu was authentic...Great grits!! Cornbread also terrific. Nice to enjoy cuisine of New Orleans here in S F..TKS a bunch...
Snapper Diavolo + Bombolotti + Zabagilione Freddo = Good time
I love this restaurant and want it to stay in business—the food is delicious and it's incredibly reasonably priced. The service was a bit rushed, however. I'm sure they were trying to turn the table, but we were basically in and out of there in an hour, which was a bummer as we were trying to enjoy our date night.
My boyfriend and I went for dinner and we CAN not wait to go back. Everything was so Yummy! The staff were so nice and very friendly.
Lively, neighborhood hangout with great Italian food. Sat at the bar and watched the show as the tiny kitchen delivered great meals. Loved the Spaghetti Carbonara. Fun by-the-glass wine selections.
My favorite place in San Francisco- incredible experience every time I come
We found out about Jackson Fillmore Trattoria by driving past one night. It's such a nondescript place that it's easily missed! After reading various reviews online we decided to give it a try last weekend. One thing to stress is to be sure and make reservations because even with a reservation there will be a wait. Our wait was only 15 minutes since the entire place was packed! But the wait will be endless if you don't make any reservations at all.
It's such a small place that every area is taken up with either tables for two or tables for 4 to 6. There is a bar and it was also full with diners who chose to eat there instead of wait I suppose.
As this is a popular place and all tables were filled be aware that you will be seated extremely close to other tables so conversations are overheard. And the noise level was extremely loud that it's not a place for a quiet meal.
The menu was only one page. We ordered their salad of baby greens with salami and freshly shaved cheese and fried calamari. The salad was excellent, but the calamari was a tiny portion.
Once seated the server will bring an amuse bouche of bruschetta with tomato and it was lovely.
We opted for a bottle of pinot grigio. The wine list is varied and actually inexpensive for SF. The server will also bring a jug of ice water which was really appreciated.
For mains we ordered the penne pescatore, zuppe de pesce, and the linguine with prawns. The portions are rather small for the prices charged in all honesty. The penne pescatore was great tasting as was the zuppe de pesce except the latter had no pasta or anything else to accompany the lovely seafood and sauce. However, the linguine with prawns was a rip off as it contained bay shrimp and not prawns. Also the sauce was still spicy even though we requested it to be 'mild'.
Desserts (affogatto and choc. cake with custard sauce) were lovely.
Good for a try yet it's too noisy and chaotic, the food just mediocre for the prices.
Food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful!!
A SF native recommended Jackson Fillmore and we’re so glad that she did! Though the restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside, this is yet another example of not judging a book by its cover.
We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and shown to two seats at the bar. The entire wait staff was friendly and sitting at the bar, we got to talk to some other patrons which was fun.
The food is authentic Italian. Beef meatballs in a delicious marinara over polenta. A perfectly prepared red snapper in a spicy fra diavolo sauce. Tiramisu.
This place is the real deal and one we look forward to returning to on our next visit.
Nice neighborhood. Small place. Casual atmosphere. Edible food. Disappointed.
Fantastic neighborhood place. Great service. Consistent menu.
Just always the best
Best Italian menu in San Francisco. Most of the dishes are proprietary and one of a kind. The wine list is wonderful. It is not inexpensive and the ambiance is a bit bare, but the service is perfect and comfortable, and the dishes are extraordinary and for all that, the restaurant is a great value.
J having been in the same spot for at least 3 decades. The place is COMFORTABLE, easy and very friendly. However, the food is nothing special at all, zero atmosphere and over priced, too. The service (however) is excellent and brisk. The portions are generous. All in all a good standby when you’re in the mood. Just don’t go with any culinary expectations.
Best food for the best price.
Lousy food. Crude cooking. Overcooked gummy pasta. Dried out chicken (overcooked) inedible spaghetti carbonara. Wines were rough in a part of the world where good cheap wine is easy to find & put on the menu. Another air ball. How this little place survives is a historic mystery.
