This is not the Jackson 20 that was managed by Kimpton. Marriott's incarnation is a shambles. Servers do not "get" service and the cooking quality has greatly diminished. When we asked for more coffee the server came by and just poured partial cups and we had to ask for more - the more coffee he brought was extremely bitter - somebody is not paying attention to the task. Food was just OK - don't think we got the advertised Applewood bacon but something poorly cooked - scrambled eggs were rubbery but the French Toast was good. Nobody ever came by to ask how the food was. Server seemed more interested in moving us out versus "serving." Don't anticipate being backed even for the $5 weekday specials.

Our server was pleasant but we felt like she rushed us. There were plenty of open tables and we made it clear that we were not in a hurry.

The food was just not that high quality. A lot of it didn’t taste fresh (super hard cheese on the cheese board) or was over cooked (chewy pulled pork in the bbq sliders). The atmosphere is lovely, however.

The waiter was one of the worst servers I have ever had at any restaurant. I had to ask repeatedly for things and he still forgot to bring them. He was so bad a new person on their first night would have been better. The salad came out after the entree. The appetizer came out without plates or utensils. We ordered the shared BBQ platter. The ribs were burnt and the brisket was dry. The waiter dropped utensils on the floor and plates. The restaurant also ran out of glassware and did not bring us more to drink. When the bottled water was dropped off at the table it was placed directly in front of me between my plate and me as I was taking a bite of my food. Very awkward.

Not a good experience at all. The only reason this place will survive is because it is located in a hotel. $165.00 for 4 people (2 glasses of wine and one appetizer) was not worth it at all.

I had company visiting me from California, so I brought them to Jackson 20 for dinner. It was my very first visit there and they did pretty well except for the Field Pea Hummus which was very runny and a bit blah in taste---I DO NO RECOMMEND and WILL NOT ORDER AGAIN. I worked for a private chef for eight years and HUMMUS is NOT runny. It is CREAMY. We also had the Farmers Beet Salad which was just fine. Then we had the Rockfish which was outstanding with an extra side of collard greens. I give this meal FOUR out of FIVE stars because of the blah, runny hummus.

The food was very good and the service good enough. But the wine list bis limited and the wine are horribly overpriced. A sauvignon blanc that can be bought at Total Beverage for less than $10 priced at $60.00? Serously?

One of our old favorite places to eat in Old Town has gone down hill. Maybe the change in hotel owners caused the change in Jackson 20. $9 draft beers and $20 salmon dinners with canned corn don't cut it for Old Town. We won't be going back but we have good memories of the old Jackson 20.

I would recommend Jackson 20. We enjoyed our time and our food while were eating brunch and celebrating a birthday. However, there were a few hiccups. First, after we asked for 2 more minutes to look at the menu, it took at least 20 minutes for our waitress to come back. We also ordered scrambled eggs and bacon for the toddler and instead they brought pancakes and bacon. It’s understandable that there can be a mistake or someone misheard, but when the guy brought it to the table and we told him it was supposed to be eggs, he questioned us like WE got it wrong. Finally, someone in our party ordered the brisket hash which comes topped over easy eggs. For her, the eggs were half of the reason she ordered it. When the hash came out, it was topped with scrambled eggs. She asked for the over easy eggs and they came, but they didn’t come until we were finished and leaving. With all that said, I would definitely give it another shot.

What can I say? This place is an Old Town staple. I don't think there's anybody that frequents Old Town that does not eat here numerous times per year. The menu and drinks are always changing. The staff is A Cut Above. The food is always topping itself as some of the best food I've ever eaten for the price that is charged. If you are trying to decide between Applebee's and Ruby Tuesday's, you are seriously short-changing yourself when you can have this type of food for around the same prices. Girls also love this place. Excellent for dates.

The food is great, but the service was poor. It seemed like there was a lot of staff, but no one really had it together. It's a shame this has been a favorite neighborhood spot for us, but since the new managements things have gone down hill. Food is really great, but poor service is a huge turn off.

The pimento ravioli was incredible. The cornbread wasn’t as exciting as it sounded, and a bit dry. Our service was terrible. He was never available, took waaayy too long every step along the way. Our reservation was at 5:30. The place was about 25% seated.... Looking around while waiting for everything, we noticed we weren’t the only ones feeling like this was an irritating problem they have... my opinion is that there are tons of other cute, local farm supporting places in Alexandria that you should try instead

Jackson 20 is one of our favorite brunch places to hop in after church. Their $5 (used to be $3) mimosas and regular priced bellinis are the perfect match to the brunch menu. The only downside of eating on their beautiful patio is the wait staff tends to forget about the customers. It took us about 15 minutes just to get water. Other than that, I recommend this establishment located right in the heart of Old Town Alexandria.

We were staying at the Alexandrian overnight after a five hour drive, and wanted a simple breakfast before continuing on. We were both more than satisfied with our meals. She had the buttermilk pancakes, substituting sausage for the bacon. She said they were some of the best pancakes she ever had, and I agreed! She could only finish 2 of the 5 on the plate. Like many others, I opted to try the B.E.L.T. It was off the charts good! Delicious coffee as well. Can't comment on the many reviews complaining about the service, as it was not busy when we went. But I was totally impressed with the meal we had.

Critical But Candid: We used to eat here consitently prior to the change in ownership but this is the second time in as many weeks that the food was not prepared properly. The first time, two weeks ago, our party received steaks ($39 each] that were overcooked [ordered medium and rare - received well]. One person from our party sent their steak back and then received another steak that was also well done [cooked through]. My wife and son each ordered baby back ribs on this visit and they were smoked to the point of being inedible [We own a smoker and I've done this several times when I was learning]. Regardless, the price [meal, drinks, and tip] for 3 of us this time was around $220 which is a lot when the food is not very palatable. On a high note, our waitress, Petra, was very lovely and the bar staff was extremely friendly as usual. Please get the food quality up as we enjoy the location and establishment.

Very unimpressive: Ordered bagel and lox from Brunch menu, but waitress offered toast because out of bagels. There is a bagel-baking chain a couple blocks away! Toast served dry--had to wait to ask for jelly or butter. Ham was also dry, but nothing could be done for that. Finale: Asked for ice for our table-water because it had none and we were eating on the patio where it was warm (80 degrees). Waitress said: "The water is cold already, taste it." And she then walked away. Never brought ice! Later, when she brought the bill, she asked if we wanted anything else. I said just ice, still, for our water. She responded that they were short-handed today, and still never brought ice, even when she picked up the credit card or brought it back. Will not return

Although I had a reservation, the wait time was ridiculous. There was a lady who had the crab boil special that walked out and told everyone at the door to leave. Some of the people left, but I thought that the service would be better if we didn't order the crab boil special. Once I reminded a server of my reservation, someone came out and seated us within 15 minutes. The server was all over the place didn't check on us often, but when it was time to pay he was very attentive and showed up quickly. It was my first and last time at that establishment!

We went for brunch on Sunday morning. The atmosphere was really nice, but the server seemed like he didn't know the menu. When we got the food one of the girls meals were wrong so she decided she didn't want it anymore -- they did get the whole table mimosas because of the incident. The system went down and we waited over 45 minutes to get a check, and once we did get a check they over charged two of us at the table. We might have just came at the wrong time , but needless to say, we wouldn't come again.

Food took forever to come out and they got the order wrong (the restaurant wasn't very crowded). They did take 20% off the bill to try and make up for it. Food was average. It was the second time we dined there. First time was pretty mediocre but we decided to give it another chance in that it's very close to our house, but I think we're done...

This was my third visit and, unfortunately, the least satisfying. While the food was fine the service was below par from start to finish. We ordered cocktails which took a very long time to arrive and though they were listed as house specials the quality of the drinks did not justify the $14 price tag. We both ordered salads which were fine but when the server removed the plates he asked if we wanted dessert even though we had yet to receive our entrees. Once we had finished our entrees - steak and kielbasa - I did order dessert - strawberry pie. After 15 minutes it had yet to arrive so I just asked for the check. No apology from the server. Upon leaving a manager asked how things had gone and when I mentioned the no-show dessert he just shrugged. Is this standard customer service?
