A much higher review would be appropriate if they would have accommodated a request to substitute tomatoes for hashbrowns or toast... 3 dollars seems excessive for an exchange like this. We still love this place but will look for someplace more flexible to customer requests in our future.
I tried this place out for the first time with a fairly large group of friends (7 in total) and the service was wonderful. They allowed us to set up decorations on the table and were very accommodating. Our waitress, Petra, was very kind and constantly checked in with us, ensuring everything was perfect. The food was definitely good but nothing extraordinary, it was also rather pricey (26$ for brisket) but the experience overall was worth the money. The main dishes come in huge portions which is great, however the cornbread did not, and it was a little too dense for my liking but still very sweet and homey. Our food came fairly quickly and all in one wave, so that it wasn't awkward with one or two people eating and everyone else just sitting. The lighting was somewhat dim but the atmosphere was classy yet casual. I would highly recommend for special occasions, big groups, or if you just need some good southern food.
The food and service was excellent. We were there to celebrate my daughter college graduation.
We had reservations for 9 people on Mother’s Day at 6pm. We ordered soon after we arrived and did not receive our salads until an hour and 15 minutes later. We had several diabetics at the table who needed to eat something more than salads so we asked for bread. Over a half hour later they brought corn bread in one very small skillet. The intention I believe was for the cornbread to feed no more than two people. Our meals came out about two hours after we arrived. At this point, the restaurant was about only half full. I had the New York strip steak (the special) and it was tasteless. My husband ordered the lamb chops, and although they were tasty, they were over cooked. Some of the meals were okay, but not great for the money. We were comped several items, including a bottle of wine, but it didn’t make up for the very long evening. I will not be returning.
I like Jackson 20. They have an eclectic menu and the service is good, but the food took quite some time to come from the kitchen. Also, a little surprised the prices of the house cocktails -- a little expensive.
Great brunch to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The service was great for our mother and sister on Mother’s Day. We used to go for brunch when it was a buffet brunch - we preferred that so did my nieces and nephew.
Service was great. The waffles and berries were very good and so was the eggs Benedict. Would definitely return
Went to Jackson 20 for a graduation dinner.
We had a party of seven and the hostess was very accommodating.
The wait staff was friendly and professional.
The food was fantastic in presentation, portion size, flavor and value.
We will definitely dine here again next time we are in the area.
Came home for an event over a weekend and was sent here by a friend for dinner/drinks. The place is beautiful, comfortable, and drinks and food were excellent. Our server, Nick, was professional, courteous, and gave us great recommendations. Location is perfect for an after dinner walk down to the water.
Will definitely return to this place when I come home again this summer and will absolutely recommend to others.
Very good. Had breakfast and vet accommodating to our requests.
I found this restaurant on a Thrillist post about best brunches in Alexandria. I am not sure I will be reading Thrillist any longer... The food was decent, although my boyfriend's meal had bell peppers and one of them still had the sticker on it which he didnt realize until it was in his mouth. He had to spit out.
The hash browns with my meal were terrible. Go to Ted's Bulletin for fantastic hash browns.
The service was atrocious. The hostess was overwhlemed, even though not that many people were waiting, and we waited to be seated despite a reservation and empty seats in the restaurant. Once we were seated the waiter took 10 minutes to even come over to greet us or bring water. Our drinks were empty for 20 minutes, no one came to refill them, and when we finally grabbed a waiter walking by and asked, still no one brought any drinks. It was clear that the restaurant did not have an incentive structure to get waiters to help each other. We asked multiple waiters for multiple things, when our waiter didn't check on us, and none of them fulfilled our requests.
We will not be going back.
Service was great. Celebrated a birthday and everything was perfect.
Our waitress Rochelle was awesome and very accommodating. The food was awesome and so was the service.
We enjoyed our brunch a lot. We were early for our reservation but were seated promptly. The waiter was very friendly and was pleasant when we asked for substations on our meal. We had pancakes, crab cake Benedict and a special omelet. Our plates were wiped clean
Brunch was very good. Service started out good, but at the end it took forever to get the check.
I enjoyed the place very much. The food was great. The atmosphere was lit and friendly. I had once guest with me who didnt enjoy his meal. That type of restaurant doesnt let you change an item if you taste it and is not pleased. He was really upset about that. That was the only issue we had, otherwise it was nice!!!!
Great service! Brisket was amazing!!
I had high hopes for this place but food wasn't great. My eggs were under cooked. I ordered over medium and not only were they closer to over easy but the white wasn't done. I was going to send back but the waiter was nowhere in sight. Hash browns were good, so was the sourdough bread. Ham was so so, but none of it was hot. My friend liked his eggs Benedict. Coffee was very good and strong. I might give it one more shot since it seems to be a reoccurring theme for breakfasts to be served luke warm. Waiter wasn't the best either.
Loved the food, the cucumbe cocktail was fabulous and the variety on the menu was a foodie’s dream. The only thing that was the problem was there were some flickering in the lighting over our table. Overall, food was magnificent. Brisket was a bit dry and that was the only complaint.
The food and the service were terrific. Our server was very attentive to our group of 8. I plan on going back very soon!
The service was a little less than I expected given this place has good reviews. It's located in an Ideal spot right up the street from the Old Town waterfront. Try to sit in the courtyard if you can. Food was good but not great, but I'd give it another shot
Good brunch and reservation capabilities were nice. However, some menu details weren't shared which would have influenced order. 30 min wait for food.
We enjoyed the brunch - a good mix of breakfast, lunch, and southern choices - and would readily go back.
Made a reservation for 9:30 AM on a Saturday for a brunch date. There was no seating available and had to wait 10 min past our reservation time. Then we were told we could sit at a bar top table now or wait another 15-20 min for a regular table. Decided to go with the bar top. My wife and I were seated and promptly ignored for close to 10 minutes. No “I’ll be right with you” or “ let me get your drink order”. After finally getting our drinks it took another 15-20 minutes to get our food ordered. Waitress continually ignored or walked right past us. We never got our waters refilled or asked if we wanted to order more cocktails during our entire time there.
The conflicting part of this restaurant is that the food was very good and the atmosphere and location are all great. But their service was nothing short of a travesty. On one hand I want to go back for their declicious brunch, but then again if I wanted to get ignored or treated like an inconvenience then I can just go to a local fast food restaraunt.
Food was delicious, the server was kind and responsive.
Excellent food options and great environment for a business meeting. Waitstaff was great.
The food was great. However for this to be listed as "fine dining", I think is not quite accurate. It seemed like an upscale chain restaurant due to the noise level. I was expecting a more romantic scene. Because of the noise (couldn't hear each other talking), we sat outside. Turned out really nice with the great weather, if you like to eat outside.
Every dish we ordered was excellent. Good service, nice atmosphere and kid friendly. Good price point too, especially for the quality of food. Will definitely go back.
Menu included wide range of food options and great signature drinks. Or server Nick was very helpful and had a great sense of humor!
Sunday brunch... today’s special was $3 mimosas. Eggs Benedict was great but the brisket hash was not my fav. the eggs were over cooked, onions were under cooked and the brisket was in big cubes so it was hard to eat in a bowl when you probably needed a steak knife and plate to actually eat it. It also lacked flavor. Very bland but overall I would go back and try other items. The people next to us loved their Bellinis and omelets
Great experience! Food and service were great! Will go again.
Nice restaurant, and a good menu. Several dishes our group of 5 had were very good. I had brisket, which was supposed to be slow cooked and tender, but it was tough--overcooked I believe, and not very tasty. So, a mix around the table of very good to average. The wait staff was very friendly, but a bit slow. I had a craft cocktail that was a version of a bourbon smash, and to be honest, I'm not sure I ever really tasted the bourbon. It doesn't have to be overpowering, but when I can't even tell it's in there, I would not rank that as a good cocktail. I'm still recommending the restaurant, but it was not one I would rave about and tell people they "must go" to it while in town.
Our repeat restaurant for Easte brunch/breakfast depending on time of Church service. Great for the kids and menu selections are satisfying and delicious. We do not like buffets so this is perfect.
A very disappointing evening. Party of twelve. GM originally said they couldn’t accommodate us - too crowded. We decided to divide into two groups of six - a boys group and a girls group. Went online and was able to confirm two tables of six. GM saw reservations on line and CALLED ME ON MY CELL PHONE to tell me they weren’t going to be able to put any tables together and that we’d be “spread all over the restaurant!” (Big clue: irritated GM - pick another spot.!) Many tables empty at 7:20 when we arrived. One set of tables for 16 - said they were expecting a large group. Two sets of six tables together. One set up front. Said we could have one but not the other - a party had specifically requested the other table. Host Chris said again we wouldn’t be able to sit together. Put one of our groups up front and the other in the back. Rocky table up front which they couldn’t fix so they moved the Group to the back. Food for one table came out at 8:50. The other table got food at 9:02. Over an hour and a half after we got there!!! Restaurant still with many tables empty. Spoke with the group at the second table up front. On our way out. They told me they had definitely NOT requested any specific table and they didn’t even like it! Spoke with the host Chris who said “I do what I’m told.” GM showed us we wouldn’t sit together if he could help it. (Rocky table enabled move - and they sat no one else at that table all night.) We’re showing them. Will never set foot in this restaurant again!!!! Will stick with Old Town favorites: The Warehouse. The Fish Market. The Wharf. The Chart House!
Ambience was great. The food was lovely and cooked perfectly. Would definitely come to Sunday brunch again.
Excellent food and service! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
