It was just awful. Two other groups without reservations were seated before us and got drinks before us. After waiting 18 minutes we asked the hostess if we could get a server. Asking the hostess again (who was texting on her phone the whole time) if we could get could please get a server or least place a drinks order. After 30 minutes a busboy was finally sent to the table to take our orders. Later, an actual server came by and had to retake our order as the busboy didn’t understand the menu (nor should he have to) and he made excuses that it was short staffed despite no less than four other servers walking around and that it was busy despite several open tables. We were really looking forward to sharing this place (we’ve had positive experiences and really talked this place up so it was really embarrassing) with a friend for her birthday but it was just a mess from beginning to end.
The service was slow and half the orders were wrong. Luckily, they were able to fix it very quickly so maybe it was just telling the food runner to take the wrong stuff. Tables were dirty surrounding us - no prebusing. It seemed like rather than pick up stuff off tables on the way back to the kitchen they were waiting for the bus service to do it. Waiter seemed rushed to bring us our check like he had somewhere else to be.
I really enjoyed my visit. The food was perfectly seasoned and came out in a reasonable time. Shrimp & Grits, Oysters, Cheese Ravioli, Grilled Salmon, MAC n Cheese and cornbread were all DELICIOUS!! our waitress was very knowledgeable about the items we wanted to try and her recommendations were on point. I’ll definitely go back!
Overall the menus looked appetizing. When asking to order they were “OUT” of many of the staple items. ( From wine to 4 things on the menu). Was disappointed in not being able to order anything that I wanted. I even asked the waiter, “what do you have left?”
This is a Hotel restaurant which I generally avoid but this is a good one. Especially great for breakfast or weekend brunch.
Food is good but this is the second time it took over an hour to get our food. You need more servers.
Gathering with some out of town guests for breakfast. It was a fantastic time and by reserving online we were able to be seated within the first 10 minutes of arriving.
I was disappointed that breakfast was no longer being served since this was a holiday (July 4). I love the breakfast at this restaurant but find the lunch and dinner to be ordinary and nothing special.
Basic food. Terrible service.
The food was delicious in a casual but classy environment. Good service and decent value. Highly recommend.
We made reservations for 1:30pm on a Sunday and ourselves and 6 other people had to wait 10 minutes to be seated and the service was horrible thereafter. It took the waiter 5 minutes to serve us and they didn’t even want to serve us. The lady told us, “ I can’t get you a high chair because I have to take care of the front.” I responded and told her it’s just right there I will get up and help myself. It was extremely hot in the restaurant. This is our second time going to JACKSON 20. The very first time they would not even serve us. We waited over 20 mins and by this time brunch was over and they were closing down to switch to dinner. I said well maybe they were having a bad day so I wanted to try them again and I will say I AM NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!
From the host (smiling and very friendly) to the waiter being very attentive and on point with keeping close attention to providing water and coffee refills. You can tell that the waiter had experience!!
Love their selection for brunch! Especially their fried green tomatoes! Yum
Great for breakfast will come back for another meal in the evening
This has the potential and location for a great lunch spot and they advertise some interesting sounding special events. However menu is not very interesting and service was very slow at lunch both times, not good when people generally have limited time for lunch. Also too cold inside.
Jackson 20 is located right within the confines of the Alexandrian autograph hotel very convenient. The food is always on point especially the brunch. The staff is very attentive and friendly. My place to go when ever I am on King street. The collared greens and the corn bread skillet is to die for as are the barbecue ribs.
We really like the breakfast/brunch menus. The food, drinks and service are good. As a bonus, it's a nice room - you can hold a conversation without having to yell at one another.
Jackson 20 was overall a good experience. The staff was fairly attentive, the food prepared properly and it was tasty. The menu was diverse but not particularly large. Wine and beer selection was adequate.
Loved the atmosphere at this place! Would definitely recommend and will go back!
The bar at Jackson 20 is outstanding, Katie and Mark are always outstanding in providing excellent drinks, amazing service and conversation. In a town with great bartenders, they are the best!!
Little overpriced, but the food off of the brunch menu was good (although the oatmeal was a little soupy). Also would be nice if they offered alternatives to bacon or sausage, without charging you additionally, for those that don’t eat pork.
This was my second time at this restaurant. For some reason, the ambiance that i felt the first time was missing. The food was strictly average. My honest request is to keep up the reputation this place has had for a long time. I am not one who would like to complain but i want to come back to this place again.
Re-encounter with old friends
We made a reservation for the restaurant since the website said it was open we arrived to find out it was closed.
Funny waiter. Crispy ny strip..
I rarely give bad reviews, but I have to say their brunch was disappointing. Hash browns were an unappetizing gray color and had no flavor. Eggs were okay. Staff were somewhat unfriendly. It's a shame because the location and the atmosphere are very nice. Hopefully, they will improve.
Always a pleasure visiting, Jackson 20. This visit was a first date, we only had drinks. But, the bar was nice and we didn’t feel rushed or pressured.
A much higher review would be appropriate if they would have accommodated a request to substitute tomatoes for hashbrowns or toast... 3 dollars seems excessive for an exchange like this. We still love this place but will look for someplace more flexible to customer requests in our future.
I tried this place out for the first time with a fairly large group of friends (7 in total) and the service was wonderful. They allowed us to set up decorations on the table and were very accommodating. Our waitress, Petra, was very kind and constantly checked in with us, ensuring everything was perfect. The food was definitely good but nothing extraordinary, it was also rather pricey (26$ for brisket) but the experience overall was worth the money. The main dishes come in huge portions which is great, however the cornbread did not, and it was a little too dense for my liking but still very sweet and homey. Our food came fairly quickly and all in one wave, so that it wasn't awkward with one or two people eating and everyone else just sitting. The lighting was somewhat dim but the atmosphere was classy yet casual. I would highly recommend for special occasions, big groups, or if you just need some good southern food.
This is a great spot for a friend's get-together, take mom and dad to brunch, and so many other ideas. I enjoyed the food, service and friendly atmosphere. I left feeling pleased with my decision to reserve time to dine at Jackson 20.
Brunch with colleagues.
The food and service was excellent. We were there to celebrate my daughter college graduation.
We had reservations for 9 people on Mother’s Day at 6pm. We ordered soon after we arrived and did not receive our salads until an hour and 15 minutes later. We had several diabetics at the table who needed to eat something more than salads so we asked for bread. Over a half hour later they brought corn bread in one very small skillet. The intention I believe was for the cornbread to feed no more than two people. Our meals came out about two hours after we arrived. At this point, the restaurant was about only half full. I had the New York strip steak (the special) and it was tasteless. My husband ordered the lamb chops, and although they were tasty, they were over cooked. Some of the meals were okay, but not great for the money. We were comped several items, including a bottle of wine, but it didn’t make up for the very long evening. I will not be returning.
I like Jackson 20. They have an eclectic menu and the service is good, but the food took quite some time to come from the kitchen. Also, a little surprised the prices of the house cocktails -- a little expensive.
Great brunch to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The service was great for our mother and sister on Mother’s Day. We used to go for brunch when it was a buffet brunch - we preferred that so did my nieces and nephew.
Service was great. The waffles and berries were very good and so was the eggs Benedict. Would definitely return
Went to Jackson 20 for a graduation dinner.
We had a party of seven and the hostess was very accommodating.
The wait staff was friendly and professional.
The food was fantastic in presentation, portion size, flavor and value.
We will definitely dine here again next time we are in the area.
Came home for an event over a weekend and was sent here by a friend for dinner/drinks. The place is beautiful, comfortable, and drinks and food were excellent. Our server, Nick, was professional, courteous, and gave us great recommendations. Location is perfect for an after dinner walk down to the water.
Will definitely return to this place when I come home again this summer and will absolutely recommend to others.
