I guess the change of ownership had a bigger affect on the food than I thought. Got a cheese and charcuterie board with bland cheese and basic deli meat. Think bologna.
Terrible waitress. Probably new. Needs training. Gave menus - immediately asked if we wanted to order. My friend ordered a drink; then waitress pointed out cocktails on the menus. Brought check while we were eating dessert. We felt rushed. Not a pleasant experience. Too expensive
The service we had was terrible. Two people got their orders wrong. One had an appetizer come out after the meals had been delivered. In addition, the appetizer was missing a component that was listed on the menu. The waiter brought the check before we were even done, and multiple people had wanted to order something else. Water ran out at the table with no refill.
Very good Southern food. Was there for a business lunch. Perfect spot. Wasn't too loud to conduct business and great food.
Service took forever to even get a drink. Drinks we received did not taste good, hash browns were very bland.
Very Good breakfast brunch menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal and good server
I had the Rockfish and it was very well prepared. Not over cooked and very good . The service was good, fast and not intrusive. For American food it’s the best bet on old towne
I came with a large party, took too long for food to come and it wasn’t hot. Had to return a couple things. Food wasn’t worth what I paid. Disappointed!
When we arrived we were told that they did not have a reservation for us, even though I made it through Open Table. Now I get a message that we were "no shows"!!!!
We were seating and waited over 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken. The food was very good, but service was definitely subpar. The waiter did not get our orders right and at the end he ran both our and our friend's check on our credit card. When we brought that to his attention he got an attitude with us.
We may be back, but not sure if we will ever take friends again since this was quite embarrassing since we suggested going to this restaurant.
This is my go-to breakfast/brunch spot when family or friends visit the area. Everyone always love it here!
Waitress/bartender was extremely slow getting to the table to take our order and when we didn’t order fast enough she walked away. Rude. She came back 15 minutes later and we ordered our food, however she completely forgot about my mimosa. I had to ask the young lady who dropped off my food to bring me my drink. I tried to take into account that is was extremely busy in there, but that doesn’t excuse such poor service.
Food was ok, I had the crab cake Benedict. It was tasty but the hash browns that came with it were flavorless. But forget about trying to ask for ketchup. My friend had the waffles which she enjoyed but complained about the four 4 HUGE scoops of butter that they put on them.
All in all the meal was just ok. I won’t be going back.
Stopped in for brunch. The service was slow and extremely inattentive. The food was served to the incorrect people, and there were only three of us. The food was just okay, on the greasy side. This used to be a great place.
Came for brunch while staying at the Alexandrian. We were seated right by the door and had such a cold draft every time someone came in or out. Make sure to request a table in the back. We had to ask twice for milk for our coffee so it was coffee was cold by the time we got it. The food was average at best.
Food and drinks were great, service was lacking. Weren't greeted for 10 minutes and then offered free drinks which were appreciated. The table next to us was greeted by the manager who proceeded to ignore us and never stopped by the table. It seemed like the server was overwhelmed and had no help, very polite and nice but the rest of the staff d idnt seem like they were there to work.
Overall the food was good and the vibe in the restaurant seemed nice.
We spent quite a bit of time waiting for things: to be seated, to get service, to have plates cleared, to get a check. All the while watching our server do other tasks unrelated to customers. It was near the end of brunch so I think we unfortunately came at a bad time when shift change is near and we were perhaps forgotten about.
I'll give it a second try.
Attached to the Alexandrian Autograph Hotel. Highly recommend reservations as the wait can be lengthy. You can do this via their website and Opentable.
It was great, but the main entree took a long time to come out. For perspective, seven of us, nearly a two hour meal without dessert.
I love this place and visit frequently, however, the service seems to be slipping. Our server forgot about us yesterday so we had to flag down other servers to assist with refills, condiments, and even getting/cashing out with our check. My BELT sandwich and mimosa was perfect as always and otherwise a lovely spot for breakfast/brunch.
The entire experience was centered around waiting. We had to wait for the host (mind you our rez was at 9m and they weren't busy), we had to wait to be seated, wait for our server to greet us.
The server came and took our appetizer order but it took too long for a simple order of cheese plate and soup. The soup was watery and the floor manager had to take our dinner order b/c the server didn't come back. The watery soup seemed to be acceptable according to the manager. The fried chicken was tasteless and the salmon was ok.
It was our 3 year anniversary and we were incredibly disappointed. We will not be returning. The manager was apologetic and offered to comp us appetizers if we came back, but it's just not worth the risk or our money.
It was Valentines Day and we had our son visiting so it was a nice evening. The restaurant was busy and our wait staff warned us it might be slow service. The drinks were slow but excellent and the food was delicious. I would say it was worth the wait. We’ll be back on a less busy evening.
Overall the Restaurant is Overrated. the food was OK and service was friendly. it wasn't anything like the web was suggesting.
Absolutely delicious food and excellent service! The chef even came out to check on us. I will definitely be back!
I have been to Jackson 20 several times over the years since I live near by -- the food is OK but for the service has been awful every time, not once did I walk away saying that was great!! They always have an excuse but I am sorry it is the same excuse every year.
Food at Brunch was overpriced, the crab Benedict was bland and required multiple salt applications and the brisket hash was swimming in grease, rendering the bottom layer of potatoes inedible. You pay for the location I suppose. The food was some of the worst I've had at a local brunch.
Very accommodating for our needs with a small child for brunch. Great service. Food was very good
Upscale breakfast. Different take on hash browns- but they could use more flavor
Waiter Aziz was very friendly and got all of our side-orders and special requests correct the first time. Love the pulled-pork barbeque!
Not much to recommend this place. Mediocre food delivered by untrained and slow waitstaff. So many good options in Alexandria: this isn't one of them.
The food was delicious and service started fine. From the time our plates were cleared, it took at least 45 to receive dessert. For a lot of that time, our server was nowhere to be seen. It then took a long wait after dessert to get our check, which only happened after I flagged down a manager to request it. We had our four year old with us, so this made it additionally frustrating.
Great dinner. The endive salad was delicious and plenty to share as an appetizer. My dining partner's salmon was excellent as was my Mc & Cheese with Brisket. We had not eaten here lately, but we will be back sooner in the future.
Great hospitable staff. Delicious food and comfortable setting.
Had a wonderful time at The Jackson 20! Redwan was an awesome and attentive waiter! The food, atmosphere, and service was exceptional!
Great pulled pork sliders!
I used to be a BIG fan of jacksons, i’ve been going there since it firts opened. I have to say that its quality has quite unfortunately decreased substantially. They used to make delicious, well seasoned food you wanted to come back for. The only thing worth the money now is their cornbread and the bar menu. It’s overpriced for its current quality. I’m not sure if it’s a complacency thing or just a kitchen staf thing, but it’s definitely not what it used to be. The staff is always pleasant and they make it the experience better. But as nice as they are, it doesnt quite make up for overpaying for mediocre food, which is sad because it used to be superb.
Incredibly poor service. The place was less than a quarter full and everything took excessively long, drinks, food, check. It seemed like no one was talking any personal responsibility for any of the tables. Sometimes a team approach can work but this doesn’t. Food was underwhelming. I had the ribs and they were pretty pedestrian quality but I did enjoy the collard greens side. The food and service may have been acceptable if it was less pricey but dinner for four with one drink each for just under $200 was a rip off. There are too many better options in old town to ever get me back into Jackson 20.
I was very excited about finally trying Jackson 20 but was quickly disappointed. It was a very cold day, so my co-worker and I decided to have corn & pepper chowder with crab meat. When we receive the soup, it was very cold. We asked for the soup to be heated up, when we received it back it went from being creamy and flavorful to watery and tasteless. Our entrees ( Waldorf Salad and Buttermilk Fried Chicken) were warm but just "ok". The restaurant had maybe three tables including ours at lunch, but it still seemed difficult to reach our server when needed. This was not the experience that I expected. I would not return again.
Great selection of a la carte brunch items; well prepared and delicious. Attentive service.
Well, I've been there before and it was fine, but we went for New Years days brunch and they obviously had some issue in the kitchen. They were working hard but were very backed up. We waited about 50 mintutes from ordering to getting our food. They did take 20% off the bill and notified us of the delays.
I wouldn't recommend ever going during cold weather though. The air comes right through the doors into the front of the restaurant. We were freezing.
Food was barely warm when it was brought out and the service was lacking. I know it was a holiday evening, but we had to flag down a waiter for water and we had random pieces of silverware on the table and a rouge glass. The wine was bitter and my drink was flat and over priced with way too much vodka. The restaurant seemed to continuously get colder and colder as the night went on and we could not get warm. Our desserts were amazing and the main entree was delicious, but too cold when we got it. We would've asked for another entree hot but we had waited long enough and we were hungry. I would like to come back for brunch and when it's quiet to experience it again. Overall, lovely restaurant but we really wanted to get 5 start and got 3 1/2. Thank you to the manager for stopping by and our nice waiter who made the effort to get my husband a fresh glass of wine, even though the kitchen had no more wine glasses to spare.
Food was ok but any positives were taken away by the horrible service. Did not bring entrees out together so I had to send mine back because it was cold from waiting for others to arrive. We had to consistently ask for more drinks even water. I know the manager knew what was going on but did nothing to placate the situation. For something that bad, I would have expected at least an apology but nothing.
I would not go back again.
