Jackson 20 is a diamond in the rough...the pictures online don't do it justice...and the food was delicious, my waitress was a little pushy could have been a bit more friendly but overall a great place for first and future dates!!
LUV LUV LUV!1
First time for brunch, and definitely the last.
Corn fritters were just tasteless hush puppies. They claimed to have bits of meat and cheese, and all I tasted were globs of cold corn and dough.
My biscuits and gravy were ordered as part of my breakfast, but arrived with my appetizer. Then, when my meal finally arrived, it arrived cold to acconpany my now cold biscuits and gravy. Not to mention that the biscuits were essentially inedible.... the bottom halves were hard and uncuttable, even with a knife.
Service was slow and lazy, brought me the wrong beverage, no silverware, etc. etc... total waste of an afternoon, and a massive disappointment as I really enjoyed my dinners there previously.
Too many other places in Old Town that knock it out of the park. I will not waste my time here again.
Breakfast portion sizes were good. Service was prompt.
Nothing special. Ok.
I really wanted to like this place, the ambiance is great but from the moment I walked in—10 minutes before my reservation—things did not go well. They didn’t have a table ready (fine, it was Valentine’s Day), when I was finally seated, while the server was very friendly, she seemed overwhelmed and at points we had to flag her down. The food was ok, not anything special. It certainly didn’t warrant the almost hour wait for the food to be prepared. They did, however, make a goodwill gesture of a free dessert. Unfortunately, by that time dinner had already taken almost three hours and I was ready to leave.
This was the worst service I have ever gotten. We got seated on time and then waited 10-15 minutes for a server to first come to our table. She took our drink order and it took another 15 minutes to get our cocktails. The martini was served warm and we placed an order for a cheese board. We waited for 20 minutes and never got any food to our table. We told the manager that we were leaving at this point and she comped the drinks and we left. Absolutely terrible service and it was Valentine’s Day on top of it. Never again.
The endive salad was a mess and lacked color. The oil used to cook the mushrooms overtook the other sides which was disappointing because they were good. But the letdown was a “peach and summer fruit” small pie with ice cream. It only had pears. I made the waiter aware and his response was “sorry; I hope you enjoyed it. For the price it wasn’t worth the experience. Good drinks though.
The chef likes onions...everywhere onions
Maybe the food was terrible because the new chef just started. The rockfish was not cooked properly it was hard and stuck to the skin. The cobbler desert was missing the berries. Awful food.
Small menu but entrees don't disappoint, more seasoned appetizers would be appreciated.
All veggie omelette was poorly cooked with only the spinach not completely raw; no seasoning...potatoes were fine.
The food was delicious and the restaurant's atmosphere is very nice. The waiter seemed to rush us through our meal although there were several empty tables.
While the food was delicious, a lot of it was cold. We did come on a busy Sunday morning but I’d expect a bit better food quality for the price.
Our meal at Jackson 20 was good but I felt it was on the expensive side for what we got. The service was good and we never felt rushed (although the restaurant was mostly empty when we were there). Not too long after we sat down there was a fire alarm and we were asked to wait outside for it to clear. I kind of expected some sort of comp (a drink, dessert?) but nothing at all was offered. I would go there again but only if I wanted to drop a bundle on food one night.
NEW OWNERSHIP SUCKS.
No more $3 mimosas for brunch.
No more $35 Large Champagne & OJ deal.
No more Bloody Mary brunch deals.
This place will close.
Went to The Jackson for a birthday celebration brunch, for the giant champagne bottle deal. We learned that as of two weeks before they no longer carry the giant champagne bottles. They offered us a bottle half the size for the same price. Our server was amazing and worked hard to right the experience, we loved him. The manager probably helped handle things on the back end, but was not very empathetic of the situation when we asked if there was anything she could do to help.
Was excited to share Jackson 20 with friend, but I had to bird-dog server and returned wrong drink. I’d also shared service needs in advance, but they were unaware that I needed booster. Disappointed overall. They can do better.
Service was fine and the atmosphere pleasant, if a bit dark. It was weird have all manner of hotel guests parade through the dining room past our table.
I ordered my steak medium but it came well done. In the darkness I couldn’t tell until after the servers had already stopped by to ask how everything was. The side of frites was tasty but consisted mostly of “bottom of the basket” bits and pieces.
Dessert was quite nice.
Lovely brunch. Our waiter was the best. Very attentive to our needs. Service was a little rushed. Food was very good. Good value. Would highly recommend Jackson for brunch
Courteous service and accomodating kitchen staff for my guest special meal request. Delicious strong coffee. Made an advanced reservation and was provided a window table. Convenient parking both on the street and in nearby garages.
I would recommend this restaurant. The only problem that we had was how much cold air was coming through the door. Everyone was freezing at our table and the service was a little off. But to his defense I think he was a little overwhelmed. If anything we would probably come back when the temperature is warmer.
Everything was wonderful! Awesome and attentive server, delicious food, no wait time, lovely atmosphere! Highly recommend for Sunday breakfast! We will be back!
Took advantage of Restaurant week menu and found a great value. Service was most pleasant and attentive. Food presentation and quality was awesome.
A bit expensive, but we were served High quality food. I had a scallop dish which was amazing. My hubby had extraordinary prime rib. Sauces were complex and perfect. The bread was home made, very good. Dessert was lovely too. Overall, a great restaurant.
New Year's day brunch! On holidays when they serve brunch, I recommend a reservation. Every item we've had is good. The eggs Benedict, yogurt parfait, and French toast are all excellent. Missed out on the waffles (they were out) but we've had them in the past and they are also excellent.
Food and service were good for brunch. Very quiet and prices were reasonable. Food could have been served a little warmer.
I wish I could give this restaurant 5 stars. I was in town for the weekend and found this place on google for good brunch (chicken and waffle to be specific) so I gave it a try. I was greeted and seated rather quickly and the staff was very friendly. I ordered a sweet tea and was offered tea and syrup from the bar which was no problem. When ordering I asked for the chicken and waffle and was told the waffle machine has been down for 2 weeks but I could get pancakes and chicken instead for the same price. I decided to try them because there was nothing else on the menu that I wanted to try. The chicken wasn’t crunchy and it was salty and I didn’t like the pancakes. The waiter seemed to be upset because I didn’t like it. It was taken off of the check. I paid for the drinks and gave him a $6.00 tip on the $7 check. I really wanted to like this place because it’s nice on the inside. I will try again the next time I’m in the area but dinner. I will rate again at that time.
We have eaten at Jackson 20 before and the food and service was excellent. I don't know what the problem was yesterday because we waited for 15 minutes for someone to take our order only to find out that the waffle machine was broken. I changed my order to the French toast and it came out burnt. My husband ordered pancakes and eggs which was also disappointing. The manager did not charge us for our meal but it was a very disappointing experience. I don't think that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I am certain that I will not dine there again.
Food was fine service was pretty bad. We had to hunt down the waitress for everything. Coffee refills, ketchup, etc. we had to find her and ask. Was just a little odd that she didn’t come up and ask if we needed anything even once.
Excellent Xmas Day Brunch - been here for 2 years in a row, never get tired of it!
Good brunch - delicious! Hostess was so kind and welcoming.
The food here is wonderful! Service was great and the ambience is lovely.
The food was delicious. Much needed dinner after 7 hours in a car. The scallops were my favorite. They make a strong drink too.
We ate Sunday brunch and cannot be more pleased with our experience. Anthony was a wonderful server; the food was excellent; spectacular service. A good spot to dine prior to a show at the Little Theater of Alexandria.
Great experience, i would go again most definitely.
Food and service was excellent!! I was a bit hesitant to try this place after reading some of the reviews but I’m glad I went. As soon as we arrived we were seated. Our server was prompt and attentive and the food was delicious. Will definitely return.
Not enough wait staff in a Sunday morning and our waiter forgot about us
I read the reviews and was not disappointed - it was exactly what I hoped. The food was simply amazing and I would come back for the Sea Scallop dish if it was on the menu - unfortunately it was a chef special, but had two amazing complimentary sides (risotto and a creamy type corn) that set this dish apart. The good thing is that the other must eat dish IS on the menu - their Gnocchi is lighter and airier than any I've ever had. Kudos all around to the chefs! Also - if you like great bourbon, they actually carry Bookers (not always easy to find).
Family friendly and nice atmosphere. Will go again.
Food was pricey and mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered the same sandwich and the kitchen made them both wrong (we didn’t special order). When I mentioned they left the meat off the sandwich and that the bread should not have been rye (yuck), the waiter said I was wrong! I showed him the menu and he said he would check with the kitchen. They didn’t even offer to pay for our meals. Disappointing.
