A bit expensive, but we were served High quality food. I had a scallop dish which was amazing. My hubby had extraordinary prime rib. Sauces were complex and perfect. The bread was home made, very good. Dessert was lovely too. Overall, a great restaurant.
New Year's day brunch! On holidays when they serve brunch, I recommend a reservation. Every item we've had is good. The eggs Benedict, yogurt parfait, and French toast are all excellent. Missed out on the waffles (they were out) but we've had them in the past and they are also excellent.
Food and service were good for brunch. Very quiet and prices were reasonable. Food could have been served a little warmer.
I wish I could give this restaurant 5 stars. I was in town for the weekend and found this place on google for good brunch (chicken and waffle to be specific) so I gave it a try. I was greeted and seated rather quickly and the staff was very friendly. I ordered a sweet tea and was offered tea and syrup from the bar which was no problem. When ordering I asked for the chicken and waffle and was told the waffle machine has been down for 2 weeks but I could get pancakes and chicken instead for the same price. I decided to try them because there was nothing else on the menu that I wanted to try. The chicken wasn’t crunchy and it was salty and I didn’t like the pancakes. The waiter seemed to be upset because I didn’t like it. It was taken off of the check. I paid for the drinks and gave him a $6.00 tip on the $7 check. I really wanted to like this place because it’s nice on the inside. I will try again the next time I’m in the area but dinner. I will rate again at that time.
We have eaten at Jackson 20 before and the food and service was excellent. I don't know what the problem was yesterday because we waited for 15 minutes for someone to take our order only to find out that the waffle machine was broken. I changed my order to the French toast and it came out burnt. My husband ordered pancakes and eggs which was also disappointing. The manager did not charge us for our meal but it was a very disappointing experience. I don't think that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I am certain that I will not dine there again.
Food was fine service was pretty bad. We had to hunt down the waitress for everything. Coffee refills, ketchup, etc. we had to find her and ask. Was just a little odd that she didn’t come up and ask if we needed anything even once.
Excellent Xmas Day Brunch - been here for 2 years in a row, never get tired of it!
Good brunch - delicious! Hostess was so kind and welcoming.
The food here is wonderful! Service was great and the ambience is lovely.
The food was delicious. Much needed dinner after 7 hours in a car. The scallops were my favorite. They make a strong drink too.
We ate Sunday brunch and cannot be more pleased with our experience. Anthony was a wonderful server; the food was excellent; spectacular service. A good spot to dine prior to a show at the Little Theater of Alexandria.
Great experience, i would go again most definitely.
Food and service was excellent!! I was a bit hesitant to try this place after reading some of the reviews but I’m glad I went. As soon as we arrived we were seated. Our server was prompt and attentive and the food was delicious. Will definitely return.
Not enough wait staff in a Sunday morning and our waiter forgot about us
I read the reviews and was not disappointed - it was exactly what I hoped. The food was simply amazing and I would come back for the Sea Scallop dish if it was on the menu - unfortunately it was a chef special, but had two amazing complimentary sides (risotto and a creamy type corn) that set this dish apart. The good thing is that the other must eat dish IS on the menu - their Gnocchi is lighter and airier than any I've ever had. Kudos all around to the chefs! Also - if you like great bourbon, they actually carry Bookers (not always easy to find).
Family friendly and nice atmosphere. Will go again.
Food was pricey and mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered the same sandwich and the kitchen made them both wrong (we didn’t special order). When I mentioned they left the meat off the sandwich and that the bread should not have been rye (yuck), the waiter said I was wrong! I showed him the menu and he said he would check with the kitchen. They didn’t even offer to pay for our meals. Disappointing.
I book with Jackson 20 every year for the Scottish Day parade. I know it’s very busy but my table is never ready...and the champagne is always warm. We book for convenience and the food.
Staff was very accommodating on a busy day with a lot of customers that had last minute requests.
Expensive $50 for breakfast including the tip. Food is good but the service is distracted and not very attentive.
tables should have tablecloth or placemats ! Hygenically Jeopardized !
Great place for a delicious brunch in Alexandria !
We went for brunch on Sunday and the service was impeccable and our food tasted great! I wish I’d caught our servers name, because I would request her every time if I could! The mimosas are only $3 during brunch which is such a steal, especially because these are not overly juicy mimosas.
When we got there they put us close to the bar and then the kitchen. This was not acceptable as we had reservations and it was Thanksgiving. The third location was in the back better but not completely satisfactory. The food was excellent as was the service. I will return but if I have reservations and they place us in a poor location I will leave. The price for dinner was reasonable but 28 dollars for 2 cocktails is ridiculous. I would rethink your prices because I’m ordering only water next time.
Lastly the music was poor. An upbeat jazz would have matched the mood and decor much better.
Our server disappeared off and on throughout our visit. At times, we had to ask other employees for help, but communication was really, really poor and we could not get the help we needed. There was an older gentleman who was a server and we ended up getting him to help us after we couldn't find our server for over 15 minutes to ask her for water. He brought water to our table for us, but was confused why we didn't ask our server for the water. All in all, not a great experience and we would likely not choose to return. Definitely need to work on punctuality of service and overall communication.
They team knocked it out of the park, from the service to the food! It truly was sensational.
Food is good — but nothing special. Offers convenient location to King Street shops and waterfront activities.
Chef Brian is back and has launched a brand new menu! The chicken noodle soup on a cold night was perfect. He has added a pizza to the Tavern Bites menu. Who knew that the best pizza on King Street is NOT at a pizza place!
Great atmosphere and vibe. Bar and drinks are great place to meet. All food was perfect but the pizza was fantastic.
Great service and food!
The hostess looked absolutely terrified to talk to anyone. I made a reservation but the hostess said she couldn't seat us for another 30 min because she didn't reserve a table for us. We sat at the bar which had a bartender who became a waitress too while we were there. The only time she assisted us we had to walk across the restaurant to get her to come over. It literally took an hour to get our food. Everyone was waiting for a long time. There's only like 10 things on the menu and its all breakfast food...
We went for brunch and it was busy, but so busy that we had to get up to find staff to refill our coffees as we waited over 45 minutes for our food is not acceptable! Staff was lined up in the kitchen while the poor hostess was seating people and taking their orders. When we finally did get our food one order was completely cold and we had to go back to the kitchen to ask for butter. Forget staff being proactive to ask if everything was ok. We will not be going back, the food wasn’t anything special either.
kitchen backed up,angry patrons going into kitchen area to complain about slow delivery of food, ( it took over 45 min to receive our order), server checked on our drinks once during our stay.
My husband and I have gone to Jackson 20 many times and have often enjoyed it. We have never had a bad meal there in terms of food quality. However, we have seen a decided decline in the quality of service over the past year. This occasion was particularly bad. We went for brunch and, while they were busy, it seemed more of an issue that the staff and management were completely disorganized than there was a problem with their being busy. The person who was our server (at least we think she was our server) was also the host when people came in and that meant we went very long periods with no check in. Other servers appeared to pick and choose which tables they would check on with no apparent set assignment and other tables (ourselves included) seemed to only get some service when you could successfully flag someone down. Some of the staff also just seemed to stand at the pass in the kitchen area rather than tend to customers. Some customers took it upon themselves to get their own coffee refills. It took 25 minutes after we were seated just to get coffee and water. It was over an hour by the time we got food - and the whole time we were served by different people. And it was an extra wait for the check - we could have walked out and I doubt anyone would have noticed. By the time someone came for the check, they had to ask us who took our order because they did not know.
Sometimes things go wrong - staff are unexpectedly not available or other problems occur. I have seen other places handle it better by communicating holdups to customers and providing assurances. On this occasion, it seemed like all staff wanted to avoid any communication with customers.
I rarely write-up complaints like this but we want the restaurant to be aware it has got to improve its service. We would like to still come here but the service has been getting worse for some time and this past Monday was really not good.
It was a nice restaurant but the food wasn’t that great. The taste was not worth the price.
Service was very slow despite only half of the restaurant was occupied with patrons. Food was just not good.
Overpriced and the food was only passable. I would not go there again.
They were painting, slow service, limited menu! Server was nice, but 2:00 hours for salads was bad. Had to ask for the check. Not what I expected at all. Definitely not a locals place.
They handled our group of 8 with ease. The food was tasty and the service was very good. A good time.
My friend and I had a 1:45 pm reservation for two. This was our first time dining at Jackson 20. The dining room was quiet with only a few tables occupied with 3 larger parties of about 4-8 people. We were seated promptly by the hostess. We sat at the table for about 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by ANY of the serving staff. When our server, Ali, finally came to our table, he asked if we were being helped and we replied "No". Then he took another 5 minutes to bring water to the table. When he took our orders, he was very abrupt and did not explain the menu at all. We saw that another table had champagne for mimosas (which was not on the menu) we asked about it and he leaned in and said "Oh that's $45". We didn't ask for the price, we were just inquiring about an option for mimosas. When our food arrived it was very good-Chicken and Waffles and the Crab Cake Benedict. We would return to Jackson 20 for the food, but the service was subpar. Please train staff to be more sensible and knowledgeable when dealing with patrons. Thank you!
