What Insiders Are Saying
The new West Village outpost of Jack's Wife Freda is the same as the original, with a bigger, more comfortable space.
I celebrated my birthday last Sunday and it was amazing!!! The staff was super kind and helpful.
Food was delicious and fast!
Everyone enjoy their cocktails. Happy to recommend!!
I have been wanting to visit this place the last 2 times I have visited NYC so I was very happy I finally got to go. We had a group of 6 which is the minimum to make a reservation. We went around noon and honestly you could have walked in with 2 - 4 people easily.
The food was great, amazing actually, and I feel like they have something for everyone. The services was superb and friendly.
Highly recommend visiting!
The kitchen does an awesome job of delivering some of the best, freshest tastes in the city. It's expensive considering it has a cafe atmosphere and the noise levels are high. Service is spot on...
Amazing food but really really loud!!!
Went with a group of 10 for brunch on Sunday. They will take a reservation for a large group. We sat at the communal table. Service was great. Every dish was excellent. Loved the Madame Freda and the green Shakshuka.
Adam was AMAZING! Best server I've had in a while and recommended the perfect dinner pairing.
Awesome restaurant great food and great service. I accidentally booked the wrong location and the business was super accomodating
We unfortunately had a wait with a reservation but the staff was kind enough to offer us free drinks for their mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. Appreciate the kindness
Had my birthday at this place. I was 20 minutes late to my reservation. They were so accommodating and took amazing care of my friends that were there before me.
It was an amazing experience. WE LOVED IT!
we were 11 people during the holidays and it was perfect - and that is tough to do!
We came here with a large group of family and two toddlers that we added to the reservation late. They were super accomodating and so nice to the kids - giving stickers, crayons, high chairs and sippy cups. The food was very good and the place is adorable.
We were in the city and made a reservation for 6. The food was great and our waitress was fantastic! Would defiantly go there again!
Great experience as usual.
Staff was amazing! Food was so perfect! Everything tasted so fresh and we will be back next time in NYC! Thank you!
Loved the menu, great options for kids and adults. Recommended by multiple friends and it did not disappoint.
The restaurant was very cute and something that my whole group and I wanted to try! The brunch options and lunch options were great, however, there isn’t much of a choice for vegetarians. Other than that, the service, food, and location were great!
Easy to find, we didn’t wait too long to get a table, really loud, but food is good. Salmon toast is a must try!
The food was incredible but the server KILLED IT. Everything about this place is awesome and I can't wait to go back!!
Very fun vibe. Lots of different things to choose from so something for everyone. The waffle was delicious. Avocado toast with smoked salmon was amazing.
What a fun up beat delicious meal! The staff is so attentive and kind. From age 11 to 81 we all LOVED it here!
I LOVE the food here and the cocktails are especially good too. The servers are very nice and attentive but it’s soo insanely loud that I could barely talk to my friend sitting next to me.
We had a group of 12 for a team dinner and there was something for everyone. Great food, wonderful staff
Tasty food, such nice service, and overall great environment.
Great as always!
Was awesome. Food tasted great and lovely vibe!
JWF was a wonderful place to have a Cousin Reunion, and they wonderfully accommodated our reservation and party of 11. Food was great, service was lovely, and no one nudged us out even though we took up so much space. I will definitely go again, with or without 10 other people! Thank you.
The host was very rude and wouldn’t seat our party of 8, even though 7 of us were there.
They were very accommodating for my large group even though my group kept changing. Great dinner and a great spot for a bigger party.
I took 6 gals with a wide range of tastes to Jack's Wife Freda for their first meal on an NYC Bachelorette week celebration. Everyone LOVED itl! The picky girls were a little scared of trying new things, but they were very pleased once they tasted their food. Everyone dug the super cute atmosphere and loving details. Our server was upbeat and excellent, food came out quickly, cocktails were simple but pleasing. We had: green shakshuka, eggs benny w/beet hollandaise, madame freda, mediterranean breakfast, and duck bacon plus some lovely cantaloupe and watermelon mimosas. Major plus is that the food is pretty healthy and light - you'll be satiated and have a happy belly without feeling like you ate a grease bomb before a long day in the NYC summer sun. We'll definitely return!
Great spot tucked in the W village with quality eats. It is a small space so be prepared for close seating and ambient noise.
One minor note to take into account: friends and I dined here on a recent June evening. It was very hot outside and the AC was either not on, broken, or didn't make its way toward the front of the restaurant. Many of us were very uncomfortable given the temperature outside.
This place is not worth the hype :( unless all one cares about is posting instagrammable pictures
JWF suffers from a common NYC problem: The servers need to focus a bit more on customer oriented service and a little less being cool and hip (I say this is someone who was in the restaurant business for 20 years in New York City). Also, the policy of not seating 5 members of a party of 6 until the last person arrives is a money loser. Think of the drinks and the apps we would have had! Finally, two times I have been to JWF which just screams “fantastic coffee” and only to be denied: first because they don’t serve decaf (precious but I can live with it) and then because the espresso maker was out of commission — at 9am?!. There are a LOT of restaurants in NYC and I like JWF so I will give it one more chance, but that will be the last chance.
Everything was great, except it was too loud to hear people speaking at your own table and there wasn’t any music playing.
Loud brunch. Food wasn’t amazing
Despite reservation for a table of 7, they made us wait for 30min. There is no separate table kept for the reserved groups - it’s still subject to normal turnover. What was extra frustrating was seeing them seat smaller groups ahead of us. Also, we were crammed into a space intended for 5. Food was ok. Nothing to wait hours for or put up with this kind of service.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and overall experience. It was certainly worth the trip from Toronto. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful weekend in NYC.
Amazing, great service too. Thanks Jim!
Delicious, fun place, entertaining server... delightful time!
Their reservations don't hold a table for you, they just put you to the front of the waitlist. We had a party of 7 and made a reservation. We had to wait for our entire party to show up and when they finally did we had to wait another 30-40 for a table to clear out before we could sit down. I don't recommend for large groups if you want a reserved table. The food was great and it's a cool spot otherwise.
