CLOSED!! Despite the fact that OpenTable will take and confirm reservations, you should know this place closed on February 1st.
CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED
Jack's Restaurant CLOSED on Feb 1 -- despite this -- Open Table is still taking reservations for it!
So, in brief, do not go to Jack's (have I mentioned it is closed?) AND DO NOT RELY ON A RESERVATION CONFIRMATION THAT YOU GET FROM OPENTABLE SINCE THEY APPARENTLY CONFIRM RESERVATIONS AT RESTAURANTS THAT NO LONGER EXIST!!!!!
Although it is still accepting reservations, as of Feb 2018?the restaurant has been closed by US Marshalls and is no longer in operation.
This is a joke right? We arrived and the restaurant was permanently closed. Sign in window saying it closed February 1. No notice from open table. A terrible way to find out
This is a real gem. Fresh ingredients, interesting menu, and well prepared, reasonably price (for NYC) food. Attentive staff. Great place to meet a friend for lunch. Ask for booths or tables near the front.
Great food. Great pre theater
Quiet, clean and comfortable. So accommodating and friendly, good food and good prices. An oasis away from Times Square...
We always enjoy Jack’s when we are going to the theater. The service is excellent, as is the food. Drinks are great too! It can be a bit pricey but we don’t do this every day so it’s worth it.
We eat at Jacks for our Wednesday Broadway matinees and it never disappoints. Today we had their black bean and bacon soup, with a tuna burger and a sesame crusted tuna salad. All was excellent and considering it’s location, Jack’s is a great value.
It was a slow night (Monday) so things were quiet and not rushed. Everyone was happy.
Convenient to my job. It is white table cloth dining with excellent waiter service. I like the menus. You can have a hearty ample meal of just a wonderful salad. The waiters take very good direction if you have special needs or require speedy service.
Cosy restaurant, good food, friendly staf. A restaurant I can visit again.
Very accommodating, wonderful New Years Eve experience!!
The food was good! The service was a bit slow but overall it was nice.
Tapas and appetizers were very good, as was the sirloin steak. Pasta dishes were bland and unspectacular. Stick with the Tapas
Collette was our server. She was great - very friendly and the service was excellent. Food was delicious. On a 5-day trip to NYC during the Christmas season this was a great spot for a wonderful dinner with friends.
Nice place to meet with friends, food was okay. Ordered tapas to share. Portions were good size food wasn’t anything special.
Some of food awesome, the tapas all good. We were ignored by server to the point of seriously rude although we didn't not complain abou food. The shrimp salad was the worse food I've ever been served. The shrimp way, way over cooked and the dressing was (seriously) just straight soy sauce. Yuk. Fish and chips likely good but hsd been pulled from fryer before batter was fully cooked so that seriously lowered quality.
Excellent service and delicious food. The hostess accommodated us when we mentioned preferring a booth. Will be returning!
Very reliable place for dinner before a show, near but not actually in the Times Square area. The food is very good as are the drinks, and service is prompt but not so fast that you feel like they are pushing you out.
Good location. Can have a conversation. Good food and service.
One of the best joints in NY. Great food and service. Going back soon!
Great pre-theater menu of 3 courses for $35/person and they got us in and out in an hour so that we could make our 7pm broadway show.
Great lunch and excellent service. Food was fantastic and quickly served! I've been to Jack's before and its a great place!
The service was excellent from the minute we walked in the door. Three members of our party had the chicken pot pie which was absolutely delicious. The best I have ever had. Someone else had the Shepherd's pie which he said was very good and another friend raved about the lobster ravioli. Three of us were visiting from out of town - some of us had been there before - it is reliably an excellent dining experience.
Great Place! Very comfortable, the lunch menu could have had larger selections
It was a wonderful surprise. The atmosphere and staff made you feel very welcome. They went out of their way to please and satisfy your needs and special requests. (I have food allergies which can be a problem. Nos here. They went out of their way to take care of my needs,) AND IT WAS DELICIOUS! Would definitely recommend it to friends.
Did a web search for brunch place close to theater. Took a chance and was rewarded. Delicious brunch! The Croque Monsieur was excellent.
Better than average for the price and area. Food was good, Service was exceptional. Everything in the theatre district is overpriced, but Jack's provides quality food at a reasonable price for the area, with a Nichols New York vibe.
Great choice for dining near the Theate Disteic. Everything we have eaten there has been excellent
I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to dine at Jack's given the NYC restaurant scene - but if in Times Square, and if perhaps seeing a show at the Nederlander Theatre, Jack's is the perfect pre or post dining spot.
Food was quite good, as was the service and ambiance.
ps My friend loved the chicken pot pie, and I enjoyed the steak salad.
After reading all of the positive reviews of this restaurant I was shocked at how bad the food was. The restaurant has a moderate noise level and the atmosphere is fine. The wait staff was nice. However, we had a reservation for Sat night at 7:30 and yet there was no steak left to order!!! Their were six of us and both the appetizers and the entrees weren't hot enough. The butternut squash soup, the mussels and the cod were all luke warm. The only meal that was hot enough was the salmon that is served in a steamer basket. I asked for my lamb chops medium and they were were before rare and also cool. This was a get together with friends I hadn't seen in a long time and so it was even more dissappointing. I could never reccommend this restaurant.
I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. The steak on the steak salad smelled and tasted like ... dog food? The mashed potatoes were tasteless. The butternut squash soup was so spicy (pepper, I think) as to be inedible. I went for a birthday pre-theater lunch and would not go back (except perhaps for fries and a drink at the bar because of theater location). Service was fine, but that really counts for little when the food is so bad.
It was fairly good. The food took a while to come out and the waitress didn't smile. The food was delicious though and I love the atmosphere of the restaurant!
Nothing over the top but everything was good. Great with location for pre-theater
We tried a variety of tapas, the Thai chicken wings were my favorite.
Convenient to theater, great wait staff, good food, and wine.
Found Jacks on Open Table and it was close and convenient to where I work. The food was good and tapas style offerings were very good. Overall, it was a good find.
All service staff are friendly and attends to you immediately
Perfect choice for lunch or dinner in the theatre district. Their tuna burger is amazing.
