Stopped here for brunch before our guided tour at Eastern State Penitentiary. It was absolutely delicious. I got the filet mignon eggs Benedict on a biscuit and it was perfection. My husband got the pulled pork and said it was a little too salty but not
Poor food and worse service. Took 15 min for the server to show up, and 35 minutes for the food to appear - which was a mixed blessing given the poor quality. Place needs to shape up or close.
The service is always an A+. We brunch here every time my mom visits, because it’s her favorite!
A FIND for Philly museum visitors. Great menu. Superior service. Delicious food. And delightful extras—especially those biscuits with cherries. Yum!!!
Food was expensive and over cooked. No one in my party really enjoyed their meal. I was embarrassed that I took out of town guests there.
very disappointing....had always wanted to go to Jacks and when we finally did, found the found very average.....and the atmosphere was somewhat dingy and felt dirty.
My wife and 29 year old son and I had dinner at Jack's last Saturday night. Knowing Jack's barbeque background, we ordered ribs, pulled pork & crab cakes. Everything was delicious. We told the waitress that we had to get to a show at 8, and she was very accommodating and quick. Can't wait to go back.
Me & a co-worker had the pumpkin soup & the catfish sandwich. Both were excellent.
The homemade biscuits were very good, too.
I thought the food was very good, and the people were extremely nice.
An average place overall - ok food, weird tasting drink (the Strawberry Bellini). However, there was a mouse scurrying about the dining room so we got our food packed up and left pretty quickly.
This is the coolest little place. I've been for dinner before and have absolutely loved it. I went out on a whim and tried brunch there. The food was ok but I think I will stick to dinner or lunch. A wonderful little gem, however, that everyone should check out.
We made reservations for 11 am on Sunday after the CHOP walk. We were 30 minutes early. The staff kindly say us by 10:45 before the bar and restaurant opened. Service was great and food was delicious. Recommend the pulled pork with corn chips appetizer as well as the calamari. All six in our party ate or shared everything ordered. Will definitely go back!
Always enjoyable. Loved eating outdoors. Food and service is terrific.
Jack's Firehouse is always a good choice when you just want some good comfort food in a casual setting with friends. This last time, the burgers were perfectly cooked, the crab cakes were deemed "excellent" by one of our group, and the vegetarian risotto was a hit with another. Service was spot-on and friendly, as it always is.
For the first time, we ate on the side patio. Other than some biting gnats, it was very comfortable and cozy, with its twinkling little lights in the trees and moderate noise (which allowed us to have a good conversation without yelling across the table).
At this time of year, it gets a little crowded at Jack's, with the old Eastern State Penitentiary and its "Terror Behind the Walls" haunted house events going on through Halloween, directly across the street. So you might want to make a reservation.
The restaurant is easily walkable from the Parkway and Art Museum area (+/- 10 minutes from 22nd and the Parkway or the Kelly Drive side of the Art Museum). There is usually street parking to be found.
Seated quickly...waitress nice and helpful...ware glasses dirty...salad bland...crabcakes and mashed potatoes cold/room temp and bland...best thing were the cookies at the end....very disappointed...not what I expected!
Overall, we had a very good experience. Good food and good atmosphere.
The food, service, and atmosphere were amazing. We will go to this restaurant again.
Very nice place... Food was great and so was the service. I would recommend.
One of the best restaurants in Fairmount. Food is consistent and excellent! We have dined here many many times and will be back.
overall great experience whether I'm going for a night out or business lunch. Never disappoint.
Great local establishment Great service and fun people! Try the mojitos and crab cakes!!!!
This place is a neighbor hood gem. We had a great time celebrating my birthday. I had the tea cocktail and it was so delicious. The food has a southern flair. I had the catfish sandwich. It was a very large portion! The fish and chips was enjoyed by my 12 year old.
I had the brisket sandwich and it was amazing! I also tried the Big burger and it was cooked perfectly!
The bread is extremely fresh and is made in house. Great place for brunch
I took my wife to Jack's Firehouse for a date night with high expectations and in hopes that this could be a go to spot since it's in our neighborhood. My food looked great but was tasteless. The chicken didn't seem to have been seasoned with anything, not even salt and pepper, and the same goes for my bacon mac and cheese which seemed like box craft mac. I doubt we will go back there again, and will most likely try some of the other restaurants on the block.
Excellent food and a great casual vibe. I had the ribs and fries, but they also served complimentary collard greens. I felt like I was back in the South!
Love this place. Always a good spot for taking out of towners.
It was a wonderful night with friends. Food and drink delicious. Waiter was the best. Quick, friendly and very attentive person. Would highly recommend. We sat outside on a beautiful night. Thanks to all.
A nice find very near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, well priced and nice menu.
Looking for a close by spot that wasn't a chain. We caught them about two hours before close. Got nice seats outside on the patio. The biscuits were tasty and all the food came out timely. My daughters salad looked at tasted delicious.
HOT 🔥 date😝
Flies around us. Hope they weren't in kitchen. Nice waitress. Food average.
We enjoyed our drinks and the Calamari appetizer at Jacks. The bbq sampler at $40 however was just borderline ok. Chicken was rubbery, pork was average. Fries tasted old and dry. Ribs and the brisket were the best on there but doubt we would spend that much again for BBQ.
We had a delicious meal after spending a few hours at eastern state penn for Father's Day. The biggest problem (not your fault) was there was a black lives matters protest right outside for the duration of our meal. Needless to say, my husband, a Philadelphia police officer was very distracted. Otherwise, we had an enjoyable meal.
Went to Jack's Firehouse for Mother's day - were delayed in making a reservation so by the time I called around, there were almost no restaurants with seating available in Philadelphia. We had been there years ago and I remember having a pleasant experience, so I was happy with the reservation.
My experience wasn't quite as nice this time. To be sure, the ambiance is very cool. However, the food was mediocre at best (and I'm not that picky), and the service was definitely very slow and not terribly attentive. I was still grateful that we were able to get seating anywhere in the city for Mother's Day, but I probably won't be back - there are much better restaurants in Philly than this one.
We ate here once before, and enjoyed it. I was slightly disappointed by my entree (pecan-encrusted catfish), but our shared appetizer (pulled pork on corn chips) and sides were delicious. The complimentary biscuits and corn muffins, with a tart-cherry conserve, were warm and fresh, and the fries are first-rate. It was a surprisingly warm, sunny afternoon, on Mother's Day, and we were able to enjoy dining in the open air. The service is fabulous; it's a friendly, inviting place.
Awesome food and service! Everything was delicious. The waitress provided excellent service.
I have been coming to Jack's for a few years now and it is one of my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia! Such friendly staff and amazing food. Never disappoints!
Great place! Server, Luke, the best! Needed to unwind and relax. We weren't rushed. Food was great! Drinks were great! Will be dining there again next time we're in Philly!
Jacks firehouse great place. The ribs were awesome.loved the sauce, ribs fell off the bone.pulled pork nachos yum.will b back.
Extremely good food. A little pricey but we'll worth every penny. The service was excellent and this will definitely be a place we'd come back to again and again.
