Jack's Firehouse Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I talked our daughter and her family to Jack's tonight. We wanted to treat the kids to something special but it had to be in a family-friendly atmosphere. Jack's fit the bill in every way. The Smoked Meats will great and my non-meat eating daughter loved her stuffed salmon. Indian we were stuffed to the gills and happy as clams. The service was friendly and attentive. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
From the ease of moving our reservation for 10 people up 2 hours, to the delicious food, we had a great time. We were all extremely pleased with our choices.
But what truly made our visit, was our fun and wonderful waiter, Stuart. He was so sweet and attentive, without being a stalker. Even went out to let some of our group who had stepped outside for a smoke, that our food was ready, so it wouldn't get cold on them.
He also led the other patrons in singing happy birthday to me.
Any restaurant can have good food, but to have a staff that makes a special evening even more spectacular is priceless.
Stopped in for lunch after a trip to the Art Museum with friends. Nice table in the back. Good selection of beers. A couple of nice specials on the menu. The soups were good and very thick. Nice, crunchy french fries. We will keep it on the list to go back again.
Wanted a local place to bring a client for lunch. Thought this would be easy, and how bad could it be? The service was good. The ambiance was nice. The clam chowder was very tasty, and the smoked chicken on the salad was good. But the spring mix on the lettuce salad was rotting, and the $5 piece of salmon on the Caesar salad was small and overcooked. Kindly, the manager and the waitstaff were nice about the spring mix, and comped the entire salad. Maybe if a customer orders something other than salads, they will be happier than we were.
Went with 8 people on a busy Saturday night and food was well prepared and service was impeccable. Nice Southern inflected menu with enough options for some picky kid eaters and vegetarians. Strong, large, delicious cocktails for the grownups and festive atmosphere. Fluffy biscuits to start and free tasty chocolate chip cookies to finish were a nice touch. Would definitely come again.
What a lovely find. I made the reservation mostly because of the location (across the street from Eastern Penn). The servers and bussing staff were so attentive. The food was excellent, and the establishment more upscale than I'd been led to believe from the reviews on Google and Yelp (which do NOT do this place justice). I've already recommended Jack's to a couple I know planning a visit.
3 of the 4 of us were happy with our meals. Our friend ordered a steak dinner and her food was not served hot. It was returned to the kitchen, but was still not very warm when it was returned. She was not very happy. Their hot cider drink is amazing! They were very accommodating about splitting our salads which we shared. Our chicken with bacon mac and cheese was delicious!
My cousins and I went to Jack's on Saturday night. Although we do not usually meet in Center City it was a midway location. The appetizers, drinks and dinner were excellent. There were 6 of us and we all enjoyed our meals. We had steaks, fish and vegetarian dishes and we all thought they were excellent. I had steak and it was prepared exactly as I like it. The biscuits and cherries are always a treat, as are the chocolate chip cookies after our meal. Our server was the best. She was pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed. I definitely would return to Jack's for dinner again.
We went for brunch and had an excellent experience. We have a baby of several months and it's a good place to take an infant. They are spacious enough to accommodate strollers, high seats, etc. and it's also noisy enough that nobody will notice if she/he gets a little fussy.
I got the catfish sandwich which was excellent; crispy on the outside and moist on the inside like it's supposed to be. We shared calamari as an appetizer which were solid, although I wouldn't say they were amazing. My dad and my wife both seemed to really enjoy their entrees as well. For dessert we had their chocolate chip pecan pie which is an excellent idea and was good though I'd say the chocolate overpowers the pecans a bit.
Overall I definitely recommend this place for brunch and it seems like it would be good for any meal. The location is great and the place looks fantastic.
As always, Jack's Firehouse is a great spot for a casual dinner. We took our visiting son with us last week and he loved the place, especially the charm of the architecture. The noise level indoors was a big much, with several large parties seated in there, so we opted for a table that was somewhat indoors as well as outdoors, allowing for us to have good conversation without yelling. Service was excellent. My son said the crab cakes were delicious. It's kind of hit and miss as to whether it will be quiet enough for conversation (after all, the bar sits right in the middle of the restaurant, and it is always packed), but if you don't mind the occasionally over-the-top decibel level, the food will make up for that. Portions are large, so you won't go home hungry.
The "Jack's firehouse is situated across the old Eastern prison so one can not says it is scenic but it is historic and a very interesting place. The food was good not as spicy as we would have
Liked but the shrimp were excellent. The service was very friendly and ambiance happy and
Casual. They kept the decor from the firehouse making it eclectic.
