Since opening in 2004, Jackie's restaurant in Silver Springs, Maryland, has been receiving awards and pleasing customers. Owners Jackie Greenbaum and Patrick Higgins converted an old auto mechanic shop into this great bar and restaurant. The industrial decor is appropriate yet still warm and inviting. The award winning wine list is just one of the things that keeps customers coming back to Jackie's restaurant.
Adam Harvey, the chef at Jackie's restaurant, creates his dishes using locally grown, high quality, organic ingredients. Appetizers like truffled cheese fries and pork riblets are popular. For entrees opt for something simple, such as sea scallops or branch out with something unique like lobster risotto. The tiramisu eclair makes the perfect dessert. Brunch is also an option at Jackie's on Sundays.
A good time was had by all over the past 11 years!
Too bad our last night at Jackie's was a disappointment. We knew it was fried chicken night (which has great food!), but we didn't realize that you can't even order extra sides. This meant that we had to order a chicken dinner for our vegetarian friend, and she couldn't even eat the kale because it had bacon! Then, to make it worse, they wouldn't even give us an extra biscuit or more potato salad. Very disappointing. It felt like they were being very stingy.
We've been going to Jackie's for more than 10 years to celebrate birthdays, etc in the neighborhood. We were sad it was leaving, but now we feel like we're ready to move on. Hopefully Jackie's new restaurant will be more customer friendly, especially for vegetarians on ANY night.
We hope you are reincarnated in downtown Silver Spring at some point in the near future. We will miss you so much!
Our server was friendly and helpful. We hope another great restaurant will occupy this space in the near future.
Jackie's will be missed - glad I had the chance to enjoy it one last time. Food and drinks were fantastic but service was slow and not very attentive even though many tables were empty. Looking forward to the new restaurant opening!
Glad I got to visit one last time before Jackie's closes! Great food, great ambience, plus we got to hear a good bar band at Sidebar next door. Sad to see this place close its doors.
Great food, wonderful service, delightful ambiance. Jackie's, PLEASE DON'T CLOSE!!! We love you!!!
My latest meal at Jackie's underscored why I will miss it when it closes it's Silver Spring location. The Truffle Cheese Fries were the devil's temptation. The sea bass was perfect. Think I have to get back one more time before the end of the month.
Poor service. Waited over an hour for food - on the chicken special night. People seated after us were served before we were. Waitress was awesome and apologetic, but could not motivate the kitchen staff to get our food. She offered to have the manager come over - that took another half hour. He was gruff, rude, and pretty much dismissive. He basically told us if we weren't happy to just leave. No charge for the dinners but it still left a bad feeling. I guess when you are within two weeks of closing you don't feel you need return customers.
Excellent food and great service, including rearranging for a wheel chair. Fun and fine food!
We loved the biscuits and the interesting atmosphere. Too bad they will be closing this location soon.
We've been coming to Jackie's since moving to Silver Spring about a year and a half ago. In an area where the number of good, unique restaurants is wanting, Jackie's is a highlight. Don't just try the food, be sure to check out their cocktail menu as well. But do it in the next couple weeks. Sadly, Montgomery County has proved to be such a challenge to deal with that the owner has decided to close this eleven-year-old restaurant and focus on a new project in DC. Let's make it clear: this place is always busy and gets plenty of business. They're leaving because the county government here is incapable of creating a restaurant-friendly community. Bummer.
The food, device and ambience was simply excellent. We enjoyed every bite! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food and service was so wonderful that we decided to return on Sunday for brunch....another magical experience.
The food is really good. It is not often I go to a restaurant where I can leave and say that was perfect! Normally, if with friends, I go for ambiance rather than food. The ambiance is welcoming, kind of edgy, with a different and tasteful decor. The bar is a real bar. Kind of dark, cozy, and a great place to meet up with friends.
Obviously I am a fan. I will miss it, but can only imagine the next one will be just as good!
We have had the same waiter a few times who is very professional, funny, doesn't hover. The chef always hits it, and the owner is there. Nice touch.
Jackie's continues to deliver - better schedule a visit soon.
We are so lucky to have Jackie's Restaurant in our neighborhood! It is a wonderful overall experience. The food is fabulous--so special!
Am so sorry that Jackie's in downtown Silver Spring is closing.
We had a great time at Jackies. Food was great and there was plenty of it. Service was good and the price was right.
The good at Jackie's was excellent. Braised kale, potato salad, fried chicken, and biscuits were all well above average.
We will miss Jackie's - we have been long-term fans. Looking forward to trying her new location in DC.
