Jackalope Ranch Ratings and Reviews
Some reltives were in town visiting and we decided to go to Jackalope Ranch because everyone has dinned here before and think it's a fun place. Unfortunately it was also Valentine's day, so the restaurant had a limited menu due to so many reservations (over 500). The patio dining was very fun and the service was also great, especially with so many to wait on. My disappointment was mostly with the limited menu, also the portion control was too severe, everyone left still hungry.
I will return, as I like it there, just not on such a busy day.
Our reservation, six people, was for 6:00 PM on a Saturday evening. Parking was difficult because the parking lot was packed. We had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. The hostess did not have enough menus to seat us immediately. She appeared to be frustrated and certainly was not welcoming. We ordered an appetizer when we ordered drinks. The waiter assured me it would be served well before our meals. Our drinks arrived and still no appetizer. After about 45 minutes, two servers rushed up to our table with the Calamari appetizer, our side salads, AND our main meals. They disappeared as quickly as they arrived. The service was very disappointing. The food was alright but for the price I have certainly had better. We probably won’t be returning very soon.
I was very unhappy. My hubby and I sat down, started to look at the menu when the server came over and asked if we wanted a drink. We said yes but weren't sure yet. She proceeded to mention Margarita or our Mojito are both very good. So we each took one. Then looking over the menu we notice the Mojito is a 24 oz mojito for $19!!!!! Slick! My bad for not asking how much before I placed the order. The Margarita was $14. Both were not that great at all. Then when we ordered our food, we ordered the fries with it. She asked us if we wanted seasoned fries or sweet potato or truffle fries. I chose the truffle fries. Guess what - an additional $2.50. Which she never said there was an additional charge. Maybe it was just our waiter - Tina. But she was sly and we were not happy. I don't know if I'd go back there. And I just told some of our friends and they may not either. Anyway - buyer beware!
Dined here Friday evening to celebrate our family's January birthdays (four of them!). We were a group of 6. This was my first time here; it was recommended by a family friend. Everyone really enjoyed the food and the ambience. The place is large with wonderful inside and outside dining facilities. The bar is spacious with gorgeous woodwork and décor. Outside is beautifully landscaped with waterfalls and gardens.
We had an early dinner inside and took photos outside (the patio was packed and looked liked fun). My husband had the prime rib; the rest of us ordered off the sunset menu (3 courses) - Dad had the BBQ ribs, I had the sea bass, and everyone else had the tri-tip. All was delicious. What made the evening extra special was the superb service we received from our waiter, Lyle. He was personable, attentive, patient (it took awhile for all members to arrive and decide on what to order) and anticipated our requests (always one step ahead of our needs). Lyle truly made the dining experience memorable. Thank you, Lyle!
When we left there was live music on the patio. We really wanted to stay but needed to get home because of early work schedule. We vowed that we will return soon. There are many more items to try on the menu!
We were celebrating a birthday with a party of six. Nice scenery. Service is quite slow. We ordered drinks and then waited 45 minutes for our entrees. We asked our server to check status and he told us be patient as our guys are doing the best they can. The prime rib was over cooked and difficult to cut. They knew our wait was long and gave us a free ice cream. We patiently waited for our waiter to stop by with the check. This was another 15 minute process.
I have been here 4 times in the past year with company.
On one occasion we waited a half hour just to get a drink in the bar. That same visit customers were walking out because they waited 3 hours for there food! Not good.
Second visit we tried the back area which is the Chop House. My friend wanted to give it another try. Unfortunately the octopus or skid was horrible. And my friend was very disappointed.
I was just recently there again and the Pork chop was so tough that it was like taking a hack saw trying to cut it.
Do not recommend this place for food. The service is poor, they didn’t check back to see how everything tasted. Very unhappy ☹️
We were 4 adults a n 1 child seated in a very noisy bar area. It was 1/2 hr. until we got drinks. My 4 yr old grandson was trying his darnnest to behave and we finally begged the waiter to bring him some food even when we had to wait longer for ours. We were finally some food an hr. and a half after arriving and did not get drink refills until we were almost through with dinner. My baby back ribs were tough and difficult to cut even with the sharp knife. My son in law ordered the brisket combo and they forgot the brisket. Our waiter kept saying they had big parties to serve but honestly I made these reservations a week before for my daughters birthday which the waiter never mentioned. He did give us 2 desserts for having to wait so long. I would have preferred a better location and dinner.
Always a nice selection: carved meats, salads, fresh fruit, shrimp cocktail, omelettes, breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, desserts. Our ONLY food item that was not fantastic was the carved brisket, which was a little dry.
Patio seating is very pleasant with rock waterfall. Inside decor is unique and well done.
Our server and the other wait staff were very attentive - clearing plates quickly, keeping champagne and water filled.
We were of course disappointed that the prices had been raised since the last time we were there. That may explain why they were pretty empty.
