Jack Dusty Coastal Cuisine and Crafted Cocktails Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten here before and it was very good. However this time it was disappointing. my wife's salad favorite was removed from the menu. She got another but it had ingredients that were not listed and she could not eat. I had the sea scallops which were tasty but you only got 3 tiny scallops for $40. I was still hungry after I finished. Very sad.
When we checked in at 4:30, the hostess/manager took us to an obscure table way off to the side. We asked her if we could have the four-top in the corner by the window (there was literally no one else in the restaurant), and she said that they had reservations at 6:30, would we be gone by then. Not a good start. Our waitress was fine. Drinks were good. Our dinner took a LONG time to come out (now there were two other tables occupied). Once our dinners arrived, the hostess/manager came over and apologized for the delay (we had not complained), and comped our drinks (good move). We left the restaurant around 6:00; still only about three tables occupied. Then we waited 15 - 20 minutes to get our car from valet parking.
Three of us ate here recently for a birthday dinner. We sat outside which was pleasant. It was a very busy night and the service was fair. The food, however, was very disappointing. The fried green tomato appetizer was good, but the entrees were not. Two of us had burgers. How can a restaurant charge $18 for a burger that is nothing more than a bun and meat patty that isn't hand formed, nor made of high quality beef, and is tasteless and dry? No creativity whatsoever. It's pretty difficult to make a bad burger. The beet salad with chicken was fine but, again, no imagination at all. The wine prices are laughable. They charge per glass what you would pay for a bottle at any retailer. Absurd! This restaurant has the potential of being a great spot due to it's location, but it is not up to the standards of Ritz Carlton.
Wonderful ceviche appetizer, delicious tenderloin with creative and delicious sides . April was fantastic. Great manager attention to the small things we needed and any corrections. Really appreciated the small things they did to make our evening wonderful. The Brie and atmosphere is wonderful - quiet, peaceful and understated elegance - typical of the Ritz recommend the tenderloin over the ribeye and the ceviche over the tuna poke ( which didn’t have much flavor)
I had the cornbread crusted fish which was superb. The brown bread served with the meal is to die for. Their version of french fries were excellent and served uniquely. The other two said their entrees were great as well. Beautiful casual environment as you would expect from the Ritz Carlton. Staff were professional and efficient. Can't go wrong with this one.
We enjoyed New Year's evening at Jack Dusty. The service was excellent and the food was even better. My wife had the Cioppino and said it was excellent. I had the New Year's eve special (steak and lobster) and it was also excellent. We have had dinner Jack Dusty about half a dozen times and it is always a special treat. One of Sarasota's finest restaurants,
Booked a month ahead on Open Table and was offered a bar high top table even though multiple standard tables were available.
Hostess at front desk quite rude and waitress seemed lacking in knowledge.
Cocktails were very good.
Food not acceptable- beet salad tasted like it came out of a can and ahi tuna was served as 2 tasteless slabs.
Tuna was cold and had no flavor. Grouper en papillote lacking in spice or flavor.
Manager did offer to give us a complimentary meal in the future but we haven’t decided whether to try this restaurant again.
Nothing short of the “best” place in Sarasota to enjoy for dinner and any special occasion. First class service from start to finish. Great atmosphere and nice vibe for anything from cocktails to dinner. Our server, Arielle was off the charts the best server you could every request.
Wonderful experience! This evening started out shaky , but was saved by outstanding service, food and a complete investment by the hostesses. Not only would I return to this place repeatedly, but I would highly recommend it. The people that work here care about you having a wonderful experience. That is HEART that you cannot buy. Great job everyone...my family and I truly enjoy Jack Dusty as a family favorite. Happy New Year!
Excellent! We arrived for Christmas dinner at 3:30 - not realizing the dinner service started at 5. Our waiter, Preston, immediately arranged for us to order off the dinner menu. He also made great suggestions for cocktails and was thoroughly professional and accommodating throughout the service. The meal was delicious and the setting on the water is beautiful. It was a wonderful dining experience overall. Highly recommended.
Arrived 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Hostess was too busy answering phone and would not seat us. Other staff was scrambling to find and set tables. Then sat us 30 minutes late. Restaraunt looks tired and does not live up to online description. Food is mediocre. Ho hum hotel food. Not up to Ritz brand promise. Table service ok. But amateurish. Have Gold Club membership but won’t be back. Too bad.
The staff is always kind and courteous. We went fishing and they cooked up the fish we caught. It was amazing. Our 3 children always have a good time and they will go the extra mile to accommodate their "picky" food requests. And the hand crafted cocktails are a must for the parents! We love this place and we go back every year we are in town.
The service at Jack Dusty is always good, as is the food. It's a fine local option. But the restaurant overall is feeling very worn down. If a little more attention was paid to the quality of the furnishings and the cleanliness of the walls and floors, I think the experience would be greatly improved.
Great for everything. One of my favorite places in the area. “The Siren” is a favorite drink for all of my friends. I love it for their weekend brunch buffet, a relaxing lunch on the patio, and drinks with dinner after work, special occasion, or date.
Have dined here a few times. We were able to get a table outside. The weather was perfect for the evening. Only complaint I have is the guy playing his guitar and singing was a bit too loud. I assume it was from where he was set up which was in the covered area of the dining area. The acoustics don't seem to be the best area unless the amps are turned down some. Couldn't really enjoy the conversation with my husband. The waiter was great as was the food. Also, we would have stayed longer but there wasn't any room to sit at the bar and have another cocktail.
We will return.
I really wish this would have been a good experience. We took or friends here before going to a musical at the Asolo theater. The service was extremely slow. We actually needed to get up and go find our server and check on our food. It came out cold. Our clam chowder had a film on it from setting so long. I really loved this place but this was so disappointing I don’t know if I can talk my wife and friends into trying it again. The dinner was nearly $300 and I really can’t believe the service that the 4 of us got.
I would like to hear from the manager as to why it wasn’t the experience that we were used to from the past.
Staff was extremely nice and made a special occasion noteworthy. Food was a delight and the wait staff very attentive, however most of the tables are outside seating.
Only negative was the noise level. There was a very large party (more then 10 people) standing close by waiting to be seated and they were LOUD.
Despite the noise, this is a place we would visit again.
