Jack Dusty Coastal Cuisine and Crafted Cocktails
Great service, marginal food and small alcohol pours. Expensive for what you get.
Nothing special. Expensive options
Always great food and service.
A go to place for a great meal and experience in Sarasota.
Pricy for quality
Tried it twice - won’t go again .
Outdoors on the terrace was a perfect setting for Sunday lunch. The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was great and service was good.
Good food but not up to par with other restaurants at other Ritz Carltons. View was limited, small harbor view, expected more waterfront based on website. Service was good. Overall needs to up the quality a bit for the price they're charging.
Food was marginal but nothing special. The restaurant has lost what was special about Ritz Carltons. Not the level or quality expected from RC.
Our experience was just a bit underwhelming. It’s not quite to Ritz standards, especially in ambiance. Our server Jeff was very nice. Cocktails starting at $15 and up was pricey. The food was well prepared and presented, but not a knockout by any means. The view was ok but often blocked by building structure from many tables.
Helen was an outstanding server. She clearly had been assigned too many tables but was professional and personable in taking excellent care of us. With a big smile. She deserves a raise.
Hostess staff was horrendously disorganized and had no concept of the Ritz-Carlton service-based approach. I showed up at 6:55 pm And was told there is a 45 minute wait without a reservation. Meanwhile plenty of tables were open. Got on Open Table and made one for 7:15 returned to the hostess and let her know that I’m checking in for a 7:15. She condescendingly says, “We will honor the 7:15 then.” Sat me at a table of high server traffic and I proceeded to watch multiple customers all night complain about why the hostesses were being so difficult.
Birthday breakfast Food and service was spectacular!
Going out to dinner with my family is a weekly treat for us. I must say this was the best experience we’ve ever had. From our server to the food to the attention of details was second to none.
Perfect lunch outside
Food was delicious and service was outstanding. Outdoor venue was delightful. Noise level was more than normal due to high rise construction going on at an adjacent site. However once completed the venue will be even more lovely.
Tomato Basil soup was too salty and the bouillabaisse was so so.
Waiter was excellent and very helpful
Very noisy young children at a nearby table
Our favorite restaurant in Sarasota!!! Outstanding food and service. Ambiance that achieves the perfect balance of upscale and cozy.
We made reservations for inside, but only outside or high top offered. High top seats for dinner were okay, but not super comfortable. As usual, the bread was yummy. I had the braised pork and it was delicious! Service was just ok. Started out good, but decreased. To get another drink and coffee, we had to ask for service, after waiting a long time with empty drinks. So non-Ritz service this evening. Bummed😏
One of our favorite places in Sarasota for a date night! Always amazing food and excellent service.
Food was well prepared and Filet was high quality
Drinks were expensive
Love Jack Dusty!
Friends. Family. My husband and I.
Lunch or dinner.
We’ve always had a great experience there!
This is a first-class restaurant with exceptional service and top-notch food. Everything we ate and drank was delicious and well presented. They have several unique drinks on the menu that are worth exploring. For the food, I got the onion-crusted grouper, which was flawless. This place is not cheap, but if you value high-quality food in a beautiful setting with excellent service, this is a fine choice for dinner.
Some recent reviews of Jack Dusty were not so great--finding the food and/or service were not of the quality they had experienced on previous visits. Happily, this was not the case for us. Our service was impeccable and the food was as wonderful as its always been.
Food was very disappointing. All 3 fish dishes overcooked
Had an excellent meal and an all-around great experience. The best evening out in two weeks of traveling. Will definitely return. Thanks much!
Love Jack Dusty’s! Food is always amazing, the bar is great but when sitting with another couple for dinner I don’t want to feel as if I’m in the bar hearing all the drunk screeching women.
Something needs to be done to divide the bar from a nice quiet dinner.
Waitress was chilly at first but then warmed up. Not the typical Ritz-Carlton experience could be much better and should be.
Not a review to be disseminated, just a comment—
One of my dinner companions is Cuban: he was thrilled with the special, which had wonderful and authentic flavor. We stayed to talk probably too long and appreciated not being pestered by our waiter, who was also excellent.
For the first time in many visits every element of the appetisers and entrees chosen by my wife and I was at best average and at worst poorly cooked. Hope it was just a blip as this has always been a good seafood restaurant.
Excellent restaurant. We’ve been here many times and always enjoy!
Food was terrible. Great for those without taste buds!
Food was great. Only issue we had was our credit card through front desk was declined. Seems the Ritz-Carlton triggered a fraud alert. Spent 45 mins trying to get them to use my card. Finally they were able to submit. My credit card company said the transaction was manual and they entered the wrong expiration date.
The setting is very nice and the service was excellent. For a Seafood Restaurant, they only served Mahi
Mahi, Cobia and Grouper. No Salmon or Swordfish. I ordered the Cioppino which was very disappointing.
Broth was just OK but the shrimp and tiny scallops were totally overcooked and tough. No reason to go back.
We love Jack Dusty. Unfortunately, my birthday dinner was pretty awful. It’s the first bad meal I’ve ever had at JD. I didn’t want to complain during the birthday dinner with my husband, but my filet was terrible. I barely ate but a couple bites. Turns out my husband had a terrible steak as well. We discussed it the next morning and couldn’t believe it. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen on 1/14/20, but we were hugely disappointed. Such a bummer of a meal that we have decided to go somewhere else to celebrate again.
Great food and view. My wife had fish tacos, which were great. She also loved the mimosas. We had an excellent brunch.
As always - service, food and ambiance was exceptional
Jack Dusty is our “go to” location and it rarely disappoints. The staff, food, and overall dining experience are always first class. My only complaint or overdue recommendation is that someone or somebody take ownership of the outdoor lounge area. It looks old, tired, and rarely at its best!! There is no dedicated server to get drinks and nobody maintains or cleans the tables and seating area when guests depart. The lanterns are never lit, glass is dirty, and its an overall poor presentation for a Ritz Carleton. We love to gather here after dinner, grab a drink, and enjoy the outdoors and a fire pit. With each visit we see noticeable deterioration and the area is ignored or neglected. After a major event, several parties tried to sit and get waiters for drinks, none came and everything was up for grabs.
Chic yet laidback ambiance with a limited yet satisfying menu. The seafood platter is a great value. There were five of us but the one for two was more than enough for us as a shared appetizer.
Aldo the fried green tomatoes topped with crab was a table hit as well.
The service was professional but a touch frosty. But it did not ruin the overall experience. Lovely spot.
